In my time in I was a Production Supervisor, a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI, aka In-shop QA Rep), Tool Petty Officer, Calibration and IMRL Petty Officer. Part of why I made E5 at the 4yr mark with the first 3yrs being spent in training then at a shore station. But if you want to see an insane tool program, take a look at the NAMP, Navy and Marine Corps Aviation Maintenance Program. Yeah, aviation, we break a tool and can't find EVERY piece, shop production stops all the way up to flight operations stop with a recall of all the birds in the air. Yeah, that was fun to think about.
In the UK The Sunday Times would be considered a more respected paper than The Sun or The Mirror which are effectively ‘populist’ tabloids… I believe TST has now moved to this format for compactness but it is by far a more intellectual read than the other two!
Actually, the contact is 81 degrees to to the right of your heading so that would be the starboard beam and not the starboard quarter which would be about 45 degrees to the right of your heading.

Fine on the starboard bow..
1:08:41 Fun fact: Volatile doesn't mean explosive. It means that it readily evaporates at normal/room temperature.
