      I'm rooting for Italy but I was so scared to face Brazil in the final (Italy had better chance with USA). Brazil is the only team that beat Italy in VNL 3-2 (and in the World Championship semifinal in 2022).

      Egonu 25 Orro 26 Sylla 27 Farh 23 and the missing Pietrini 24
      It Will be hard for the others teams the next years😊

    I don't know if it escaped me, but I didn't hear one of the main factors for Italy's success, namely the dream team of coaches wanted by Velasco, namely Massimo Barbolini and Lorenzo Bernardi (who surely would have refused the proposal from anyone else except Velasco)

    • @MCB3007
      @MCB3007 Месяц назад +1

      Actually, the French TV commentator mentionned this during the final. It certainly helped Italy to win, look the difference with Brazil: no one helped Zé Roberto Guimarães to make better and bold decisions during the semifinal against USA (Roberta out, Macris in; more balls to the middles, etc)...

    Italy woman did the right thing when playing the VNL2024. They used the whole potential and tested them against the best teams, as a result, they got the gold medal.
    Italy men didn’t use their main players and didn’t have a chance to asses how they would respond against Poland or France in the VNL. They should have used the starters.

    after the cska moskau that dominated the world volleyball for seven years i don t remember any other team that was so dominant in any international competition, maybe like cuba when queen Mireya Luis played .Luis had 110 cm vertical leap , insane. But aside from that the whole team was convincing ,serve reception defence attack.
    I think the trainer Velasco did a great job ,more or less with the some players he obtained a dominant team without week spots .It is not easy ,tall players are usually bad defenders but it wasn t the case with this Italy . I am really impressed 😊. After the vnl was clear that Italy was the rising star ,but results were above expectations.Against Japan in the vln final italy scored 17 points more than Japan ,in Paris against Usa 20 points more than the americans. To put it in a perspective France won the man vnl 2024 against Japan scoring one point less then the Japanese. Only the scores differences really tells you how good they were.the final result 3 0 means not much .But the fact they have lost only one set plus the huge scores differences is illuminating. It s statistic it is not an opinion.
    I don t want to talk about racism but i always wondered why in the us male team there are not african americans while in the female team is not the case. Cuba is exactly the contrary.

    1 question, and then analysis:
    1) what was with Everett playing civ6 during the match? Did he actually watch it live?
    2) I do think there was a different energy when cook/plummer were on the court and they actually seemed like the made a small push. It would've been interesting to see if that combination made a difference in subsequent sets. Further on that point, Carlini and Thompson were also on the court at the same time. Thus, I think this speaks to the somewhat ineffective coaching and system of Karch. He was unwilling to switch out to Carlini even when Poulter was getting completely read and ineffective. 11-0 in blocking completely backs me up on this too. But Karch insisted on sticking with it and the double sub. So he was unwilling to think outside the box. Add that Rettke never got off the bench in the touranment and in terms of blocking and height, she could've made a difference even a small one. She deserved to get off the bench, esp in that beatdown. Not saying in any way shape or form that it would've made any difference, but it would've been nice to see and to have a coach willing to completely shake up his thought process.
    All that said, Italy was by far the better team and completely deserved this gold. They were the best team from start to finish.

    • @RockAddicted7
      @RockAddicted7 Месяц назад +1

      I like Rettke but she's good in attacking but not in blocking (same as Lubian, Velasco said she needs to improve blocking). With her height, everybody is expecting her to block as much as Korneluk but unfortunately she's not (that's also why she was benched so many times in Vero Volley). Can't wait to see her next year in Eczacibasi, she may continue to improve and be in the starting six in LA2028.

      Kudos to Italy! They did great! But one week before this match these two were cussing out the coaching and players of USA. And after this goose egg of a game they’re all sunshine and rainbows about it?
      You can be critical of your team without taking away from how well the other team performed.

      On this formidabile fundament the construction and the execution are easiest of course with Egonu and Sylla despite the absence of the strongest slashers Elena Pietrini

    Do you think the quality of the US women national team will improve (or 'drop') in the future since all the players (except for Plummer) will be playing in LOVB? I would also like to know why Frantti is not in the usavolleyball website anymore (along with Bajema), I bet she was so disappointed not being in the Olympic roster this year...

    • @disguyb
      @disguyb Месяц назад +2

      It will improve by default because of the talent that's been wasting away on the sidelines will finally get an opportunity due to some of the older players retiring - not because of anything Karch does or a new volleyball league. He didn't leverage anything from AU or PVF anyways. Bajema and Franti not being on the roster anymore isn't a surprise because damn near everyone who isn't Karch's favorites only play 1 year for the team basically as a fill-in until he gets his loyal pups back, a complete waste of time and development. That and the fact that there's constantly like 40 players on the roster means nobody has gotten consistent opportunities to develop.
      The "young" players on the roster are already all around 26-27 and haven't really even gotten an opportunity to play outside of Plummer now who was only forced into action because Karch's horrendous plan A of starting Larson+Cook again completely blew up in his face. It's no wonder why we've been robbed of seeing the likes of Madison Lilley and Mikaela Foeke, or why other elite prospects aren't even on the roster. I wouldn't want to wait and do the grunt work for Karch for 6-8 years before getting finally getting an opportunity to play either.

      @roland97008 Месяц назад

      @@disguyb agree. The ladies from the US dont really have to go overseas and a lot of times the options are bleak for many of them to continue to play so any outlets to keep playing is good. It's going to be an interesting next quad to see what other talent develops and hopefully we can build a better national team pipeline in the future for players after college.
