When i see these videos i just want to cry because of the stark contrast between the governance obaseki left behind and what we have now. See how the man single handedly made the retail sector a booming area ,look at what he did for the creative arts and industrial sectors,see investments here and there.People don't realize what the issuance of Cof Os in 3months plus an independent power station like ossiomo power can do in a state.I learnt that market square, ford mart benin mall,etc. all run on ossiomo line.
The other departmental stores in Benin City, besides Phil Hallmark (2 outlets), Market Square (3 outlets) Ford Mart and Shoprite, are Stop and Shop (Nadia Bakery) opposite UNIBEN Main Gate in Ugbowo, and JARA Mall with 2 outlets at Second East Circular junction and BDPA. People also easily forget we've had a shopping mall in Benin City right beside Precious Palm Royal Resort for years now, with the 4-screen Filmhouse cinema, called Voen Shopping Mall. The missing ingredient that kept Voen Mall from becoming popular was the lack of a departmental store like Shoprite or Spar.
The voen Mall situation has always baffled me. It has everything to make it highly sought after but I believe only the Film house Cinema in it is what brings majority of people there. The location might be another factor for the low patronage. Thanks for the Compendium.
Market square should add cinemas and allocate more stores, like add saloons and libraries . And what are the chances of these investments finding it’s foot in Major towns outside Benin City , cus i no distance time we would start hearing na only Benin development for they happen, well i feel some people don’t know the Benin some of them do talk about is Oredo , ikpoba okha Egor , Ovia North East from Uniben upward and part of Uhunwonde from Eyean, well litano you should bring up this topic of these outlets find foot outside Benin or should i say moving to Edo central and Edo north , me I like to advocate for these things to spread round , well I don’t know maybe these place don’t have the targeted market for these outlet and more to come but , i just want to know why , easy kada nd maybe jara or market square or phil hall market can take a bold risk and see how they explore other places in the state .

Are you not a Nigerian man like him? I left Benin City for the United States about 30 years ago and I'm seeing massive transformations all over the city, including world class malls.
