Thanks! I kind of went down a Gar fishing rabbit hole 😂 Hopefully I can get back on the kayak sometime but it looks like these winds are not letting up anytime soon.

Thank you! To be honest, I almost went in for a swim. I had secured the rope around his torso and went to grab his tail to lift him up. He had a burst of energy to make a run and I almost went over 😂 all of this happening in the dark too. But it was a full moon and I seem to catch my best at night lately.
I know you were tired as hell after that 😂, and yeah man as long as you got your drag set good you'd be surprised how light of gear you can use to catch big fish.
Man I was tired lol, mostly the landing process in the dark and he would keep running all over the place. I was super lucky he was hooked on the top jaw just barely. I just picked up 2 additional medium heavy rods with 50 lb and 65 lb braid set ups. I'm having a hard time finding 100 lbs mono line. I'll have to find something online.
@@chiroangler I had the same problem heaviest mono I could find was 80lbs, which tbh is good enough. Trilene Big Game mono is what I use and its pretty damn good. Guess you're gonna start fishing for bigger game with those new set ups then haha.
@@KillerAssassin2000 😂 I got to start somewhere lol, I'll have to keep looking around for that mono leader line. There's a few places I know big gar run so I want to try my luck. I also got some heavy duty rope and bigger circle hooks.
Congratulations! That was very light gear to bring in such a huge gar. Just ordered a Pelican Getaway thanks to your reviews, getting tired of roof loading a heavy kayak especially in the summer months.
Thanks! I was telling the guide from my previous trip that I landed a big fish because I learned so much from that session. I just picked up another Penn rod spooled with 50 lb braid to try and practice. I'm glad you picked up the getaway kayak, its super lightweight. You will have to adjust the tension cables to loosen, but overall its a great kayak. I'm waiting for the weather and wind to settle to get back out there.
Impressive catch!!! Congratulations!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
What a beast. Great video, scenery, and content 👍 Keep it up!!!
Thank you! I try my best to get some good shots since most of the filming is in the dark.
Wow excellent job landing that beast with such a thin braid. Making memories brother 🤙🏼

Holy cow! What a beast. Must’ve been hell to pull up the bulkhead by yourself. Impressive catch, well done 👍

That was a TANK!
The biggest one for me yet. I'll keep trying, thanks for watching!
What bait where you using bro?
I was using cut croaker, like a 3-inch mid section.
