The price of visuals will skyrocket (high expression, especially). The price of hets will tank. Nobody wants to buy a "100% het poss Aa/BB, poss AA/Bb, poss AA/BB DG" for any kind of money.
This was awesome to watch man I bet monsoon and od vs hi od r in tje same category man I wish u was my teacher in school lol thanks for sharing I’ve seen it befor but didn’t understand was was being said thanks for making it make sense to me
Great video! Well thought out, and very helpful visual aids!!! As you probably know, we are offering up to two FREE DG tests for visual DGs and offspring directly from visual DGs (what we have always called 100% het DGs) as long as you don’t mind sending a nice pic in and giving us all the morph info and ancestry that you know. So you could get a couple of your important DG project animals tested for free, but you have to sign up before the three day period is up! Thanks again for taking the time to out out this video, and hopefully each month that goes by we will know more and more!!!
Great job Mark! I think one thing that is missing from the conversation is that genes in this type of inheritance have an addictive affect similar to skin color. Knowing the level of expression of each allele combination would be great to know. This is where phenotype data will be important along side genotype
Incredibly informative and extremely interesting! Im into dogs but theirs a gene called merle that can be masked by two other genes, ee red, aka gold like golden retreivers, and Sable like youd see on a german shepherd. I wonder if it works similar to merle in a since where some morphs may mask the DG gene like Ee red and particailly/ almost completely like sable will. Incredible and maybe some food for thought.
Probably worth mentioning at this point that there are almost certainly other genes at play, which could completely change the odds. Most of their sample so far comes from Kinova, so theres potentially a bias there. Kinova tends to outcross to bring in other genes so may have "lost" some of the DG genes over time.
i wanted a desert ghost to put with my orange ghost but now that some animal just looks desert ghost and are not ,i don't know if i want to risk it ...i feel the price will plummet too.
I think they should include p-values, to show statistical significance. Even better, an abstract to discuss the polygenic, bring on separate alleles, to show where they are finding the desert ghost locations on alleles A,B, and/or C. The ball python community has gotten by with simple genetics for a long time. The information would be helpful, but almost all other breeder animals have polygenic traits, like dogs and cats. Thx for putting out the het and homozygous explanations.
No. DG has multiple DG lines and are all compatible. It isn't like Hypo... Justin has proved this. Even homeboy from Canada eh! Has said this before. Shout out to Kinova and Mutation Creation 👍
I believe this might actually increase the value of desert ghost. Imo

i believe the opposite just like toffee /candy...

this was very educational! thank you very much
Excellent video thank you. Definitely some beautiful animals keep up the good work

Thanks Dr Ben for taking the time out of your busy schedule to watch my video. Already registered, and planning to send in the rest! ✌🏼
Great video, nice to finally hear someone that understands the changes that have to be made working with this gene 👍!
Great video
Super informative! Thanks so much! Awesome video!!!

That should be additive not addictive but guess that is true too!😂
Great and informative video mark and awesome snakes

Mark what's up sir! Dude i love the genetics aspect of this hobby
How many top breeders going thru and grading stock for quick sell

This video is outdated and Desert Ghost has proven to be a simple recessive. DGc was the correct gene. Buy away!
@@403Fauna Ooooh now that interesting,i will check out for a male ... 💰💰💰

Well explained Mark. Appreciate this content. Good luck on you het to het project.
My question is,the more inexperienced breeders slip in something to the more experienced breeders, could cost years and money?
Genetics are amazing.
The reason visual X visual makes an occasional normal is because there is a third line of DG. As if it wasn't complicated enough already 😂

❤❤❤❤❤
Im betting mixing desert ghost and enhancer together has something to do with it
it the same gene ...
Good video but it messes up in places
Would love the feedback.
