We can improve as a club very easily actually. Since Sir Alex left the people making decisions have been non footballing people and ineos doesn’t have to be brilliant or amazing they just have to be competent and researched in their decisions. Footballing front office and the decision makers knowing the modern game was an easy fix that didn’t take a genius to figure out. Properly run clubs do the small things like buying well and lowering wages, running talent through the academy and a handful of other things that we as fans have been asking to be done for years. It won’t be an overnight success but we will start improving with each window and the rest of the league and europe know that too and i promise you they are watching and in the back of their minds there is a little bit of worry building. Like i said we don’t need to be brilliant for now just competent and more importantly consistent. Consistently improving, consistently making good decisions and if the points each season keep rising we will become a place that talent wants to come to again and that scares every other team because they remember what a juggernaut we were and with what we can earn through FFP if we are winning consistently and packing out a 100k stadium every game we will outearn everyone else even with our debt. Im not saying we are back and im not ignoring problems because we do still have some but there is reason to be optimistic and i think the rest of the league is already starting to feel the cold fingers of what if, when they think about our future.
At this point, I fee like the only way Ugarte is going to happen is if we sell McTominay or Sancho for much less than they are worth. I can see McTominay being worth $30-35mil but us only getting $20-25mil, and Sancho being worth $35-40mil but us only getting $25-30mil, if that, due to his stupid wages. I'd honestly just move on Sancho for like $20-25mil just so we can get him and his high wages out, regardless of the loss, because I think McTominay is such a good super sub that we need for all of those tight cup games and EL matches.
60m euros is too much for Ugarte. That's what PSG paid for him and he didn't live up to their expectations, so he should be cheaper. Just because we might loan him for a year with an obligation to buy doesn't make him any cheaper. All it means is that the payments have been delayed by a year.
