Hi everyone, thanks for watching and sharing in my pain! I’ve had some rough weeks in sim racing, but this is right up there with the worst! If you haven’t seen it, Ben at La Broca Sim Racing has done an excellent follow-up after watching this mayhem unfold. He explains it far more sensibly, clearly and coherently than I do in my ranting 🤣 Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/OEVmQFi-__s/видео.html
I'm sick and fucking tired of being punished for the mistakes of others, sick and fucking tired of being punted on lap 1 by people that don't understand tires are fucking cold. It's EXHAUSTING. Some say "oh just don't worry about irating or sr" and while that's fine... it DOES matter when loss of SR means you don't get to race in the series you enjoy. Something has GOT to be done at some point about loss of SR in situations where you're guilty of simply fucking existing.
Yeah, this is one of the frustrating things. Even ending the race with just a 4x usually means you lose SR in these shorter races - it’s absolutely ridiculous, and way too harsh. It basically means, if one person carelessly runs into the back of you, just once, at any point in the race, you’ll lose SR.
Its a shame that the more popular series within iRacing are absolutely full of people who are a danger to everybody. So far this season I've basically been taking a break from official races as I've spent the last 6 months farming oval SR with small iRating gains in Indy Fixed. When it comes to road racing I've honestly been getting the most enjoyment from categories like C Class TCR where the fields are just above the going official line, as they're the races that I end up with clean finishes, even if the racing isn't particularly close.
Yeah, I certainly need to find a safer series. I have a GT4 so there’s that possibility, and I do have the Ferrari 488 but I find GT3 racing a bit too aggressive for me too.
That music was fitting. They were driving like hillbillies. I learned a similar lesson in ACC recently. First time I've ever lost it in the chat in LFM. 35 incident points and an eventual hamburger because of a complete lack of respect by some of the other drivers. I don't do iRacing because of the cost and because of the overly eager damage model, especially in these cars. One mistake from you or someone else means you've just wasted an hour of your life waiting for a race to start and then you end up with two missing wheels five minutes into a race, often through no fault of your own.
I very rarely lose my cool, but I did after these races. Even filed a couple of protests, which I never do (not that anything will be actioned from them, I don’t have much faith in iRacing’s report system - LFM’s is infinitely better). You’re absolutely right about it being an hour of your life wasted. Or in this case, 4 hours, with 4 different races. Looking forward to (hopefully) better luck in ACC next week 🤞
The difference between iRacing and LFM is that when you get wrecked by idiots in iRacing it’s all the more frustrating because of the amount of money you have in the game. At least with LFM you’re not plowing hundreds if not more into it so although frustrating, doesn’t feel like you’re wasting loads of money
100%. That’s what really stings - I’ve paid a premium price to endure this! 🤦🏻♂️ I’m finding I get far more value for money from the other sims, so it’ll probably be where I spend more time from now on 👍
I think that I like iRacing, for the most part, but the whole system is a curse unto itself. People are angry because they're getting wrecked and others that commit the offenses don't get punished enough or at all. I believe it's because iRacing doesn't want to lose customer, even the ones that continually cause issues. The only option I see is to make it a lot harder to move up the ranking system to help ensure that the safety rating level requirements are taken more seriously.
And in iracing you can get license downgrade course of idiots on track and would not be able to race your favorite series for a while before you get license back.
The worst thing about it is that sometimes there are idiots who blame YOU, and start using every insult in existence. Some drivers are just meant to stay in rookies their entire lives.
this is the first video of yours ive seen and im absolutely howling hahahah subbed. i know you wanna be positive in the videos but your rant was absolute gold
Nice one, welcome to the channel! Haha glad you enjoyed it, it always helps to take the sting out of a bad racing experience if I can turn it into something entertaining. Cheers for subbing, and hope you like the upcoming videos as much!
That's a pretty rough set of races, sorry you had to go through that! I love Watkins Glen but my experience on LFM in ACC was similar to this last season, lots of crazy rejoins and dangerous moves particularly around T1 and the inner loop. Can't wait for the new season next week though :)
I'm new to iRacing and it is my experience that there's always at least one knob like that driver in the no. 18 car in EVERY race. Not sure if I will renew my iRacing next year due to not being able to trust anyone in close combat.
That’s my biggest problem now… I don’t trust anyone to race safely near me. I end up giving them extra space, or just letting them past - thinking it’s better to give away one position, rather than defend and risk losing loads. That seems to be the only way to survive in iRacing, and it sucks all the fun out of it. I expect I’ll be letting my sub expire too, when it runs out in a few months.
I protested someone on dirt oval. They were on my outside coming to the green flag. Gave me absolutely NO room and pinched me into the tires on the infield then wrecked us and 6 cars coming to green. Apparently it was a racing incident… there’s no point in protesting.
Even intentional wrecks don't get the player anything other than a email saying someone protested you. They don't do anything unless it's high profile and was streamed.
@@denn15m8 Indeed. Someone told me they were going to wreck me in the next race, then wrecked me in the practice session and in lap 1 turn 1 of the race, in the most obvious way possible, and I protested with replays. They were still racing once the protest was resolved. Turned off auto-renew on my subscription and uninstalled iRacing. Fuck that shit.
I had a fun time racing F4 at Imola last week. This week I tried one race at the glen and got dive bombed from behind. Safe to say my computer switched off pretty fast! The key to F4 is to be P5 and above at the start I think. It is truly shocking how terrible some peoples etiquette and car control is. For reference my iR is 2k! Great video once again, you’ve gained a sub!
Ahh thank you, welcome to the channel! I actually had a really good run of results at Imola last week too… it’s why my rating increased enough to get me in these higher splits. But at Imola, realistically I only did well because I was in the right place at the right time to avoid LOTS of wrecks. This week, the bad luck caught up with me… in spectacular style! 100% agree with the grid position too, but I just had no chance in these splits… their times were insanely fast. At least if I drop back down a bit, I should be more competitive with pace again 🤞 thanks for watching, and subbing.
I am very new to iRacing as this is my first season but - When a valid strategy in the MX5 series is to drive intentionally under the limit, and avoid incidents over lap times, you know there’s some kind of problem. I’ve doubled my top 5s by intentionally running middling laps consistently and safely rather than trying to squeeze out those last 4 tenths 🤣
Yeah, it’s a strategy I employ the majority of the time in iRacing. My best results have come when I hung back and waited for the wrecks ahead. Also, I find myself letting people overtake me a lot of the time - if I defend, it makes the person behind impatient and increases the likelihood of you being punted out. I wish it wasn’t like this, but often I think it’s safer to lose one position and still be in the race, rather than defend one position and be put out of the race. It’s not the most fun way to race, but it does increase my chances of surviving, I find!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I think the big thing for me is that I am still having fun, and that’s why I’m willing to do it. Driving the cleanest laps I while dodging the field of bumper cars comes with it it’s own set of challenges to overcome (I am still hunting for the 0x top 3) 🤣 I will admit though that I sort of feel like the penalty for crashing out should be steeper. On these short races something like a 17x incident limit seems…. Pretty dang high? That’d be basically 3 wrecks, 3 off-tracks, and a wall impact. For as much as this is a simulator, in real life you’d have been ejected from the course permanently long before you reached that number. I don’t know if there is any easy solution that won’t catch out innocent people. I considered crash a lockout based on your incident score for a simulated “repair time” but then that hurts all the ones who get caught up by an idiot. Maybe that’s what needs to happen though - make the penalties so rough these people are hated more than just found to be really annoying, and then it will sort itself out. Who knows 🤷♂️
On my worst day, i got strolled 6 times. They should finally upgrade their interface and give us a radar and a trackmap, which would make things so much easier.
Yeah the lack of a radar is a really big omission. I keep meaning to get RaceLabs set up for iRacing, purely for the radar. I can’t do without it in the other sims I race in.
Banger Racing came to iR and i wasn't aware? Due to driving standards in iR lately i've even let my subscription run out, don't feel its worth it at min due to others
Haha yep! I don’t blame you mate, I strongly suspect I’ll do the same. Mine is up for renewal in November, and I can’t see me keeping it. All this carnage just isn’t worth the expense.
Thank you mate. I really don’t mind honest mistakes, we all make them. But I lost count of the drivers who just dive straight back into the racing line, right in front of oncoming traffic. It’s madness. And there just seems to be no common sense when racing closely alongside another car. Literally EVERY time two cars got close together in these races, it was a guaranteed crash! A gruelling week indeed 🤣
Rejoins in this series is by far the worst. People get angry and then just slam the pedal to get back on the track, ruining other peoples races. These rejoins are not better in 3k+ splits either, so dont expect them to be, but the racecraft is a lot better and more predictable.
Oh I think it’ll be a very very long time before I’m ever in a 3k split! I think I’m a bit out of my depth in these 2k ones. It’s only because half the grid kept wrecking each other at Imola last week that I got such a big irating gain. Last week I was lucky to avoid all those wrecks. This week, my luck ran out!
I admire your determination in continuing to do this race even with the absolute garbage standards in F4 nowadays. Some people are quick on quali pace you can see how terrible their race craft and overall standards are in a race. Either way good content and hopefully the next few races won’t be this frustrating!
Definitely, the qualifying laps they were all putting in were insanely fast. I mean, I was going reasonably quickly but could only qualify down around P15 to P18. So they’re really fast hotlappers, but clearly lack the ability in a race situation.
I totally understand your rant. Was unlucky enough to get myself 27 day ban in LFM after race like that for saying "so many aggressive idiots today". Not proud of this comment and to all fairness LFM report system is a way to settle this, but with their "cooldown" system, most people that want to do something about it are getting disencouraged and sometimes it just spills out. But at least they are not charging you monthly and do nothing like iracing 🤦
I think it’s the cost element that makes it so much more frustrating with iRacing. Not only are you getting your races ruined, but you’re paying $15 a month for the privilege 🤣
@@tattoodude8946 Yeah, I wrote "a lot of aggressive idiots today" when I got bumped and drive off a track like 2-3 times at the end of the race. But to be honest it's better - you don't have a chat during a real race and then you can report someone (aka go to race control :D ). And since you know that YOU will get banned from griefing, you can quickly clear up your head because you know you can't do a damn thing at that moment. At the end of the day, it clears up the air.
someone once told me that the driving actually gets worse the higher up you go. I personally don't know for sure seeing as how I dropped iracing after getting my rating just over 1200 but this seems to confirm what the guy was saying lol
Yeah, it looks like it’s true! This was my first time racing in the 1.8k to 2k bracket, and it’s the worst I’ve seen. Imola last week was really bad, but I got really lucky by narrowly avoiding big wrecks and getting some string finishes (which resulted in the sudden jump in iRating and splits). It certainly wasn’t fun out there.
Who said 'insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome'. Chris stop racing F4, F3 and fixed ferrari and you'll have a much more enjoyable time on iracing.
Haha, so you don’t reckon it’s a good idea for me to give it another try this evening then? 🤣 you’re absolutely right though. Every sense and instinct in my body was telling me it’s a bad idea to go back on the grid for the next one. But I didn’t listen…
This is the first season where I've been taken out in F4 multiple times by people missing their breaking points by miles. There is definitely something up
Ive spent a ton of money on iracing..but 6 odd months ago, I decided i'd had enough of it. Not just because of the poor driving standards, but the experience as a whole. i have very little free time to race. Now i race in a league in ams2 as it fits in with my free time and also I love to race in RF2 on LFM when i can...Standards on those are way above iracing imo. Another great video Chris, But for all the wrong reasons :(
Yep, the way I’m feeling at the moment, I suspect I’ll let me subscription run out. I enjoy LFM a lot more, particularly ACC recently but I’m also hopeful of a bit more rf2 participation this season. Maybe we’ll finally catch up on track!
You are spot on, good sir. I am new to iRacing (one month), now a Class B, and I find dirty (or careless/inconsiderate) players in (almost) every server. A bummer as we spend a great deal of money and time only for our fun to be undone by thoughtless drivers. Great video!!!
I think that’s why it stings so much more in iRacing… because of the cost we have to pay for the pleasure! Thank you mate, cheers for watching and good luck on your journey, hope it gets cleaner 🤞
I've literally just had it today where someone intentionally jumped the start and took my rear wheel out BEFORE THE GREEN FLAG. I am sick of things like that affecting my stats when I hadn't even f*cking moved.
its so tough to know the difference between a good driver who made a bad decision in the heat of racing and a driver with poor standards. The end result is the same and its hard not to complain. Great video.
Thank you! I never have any problem with people making mistakes and spinning out. It’s racing, it happens and we’ve all done it. I certainly have, so I’ll always have sympathy for people who crash and inadvertently take someone out. But people do seem to be getting more careless/reckless/thoughtless with their rejoins… that’s the bit that frustrates me. Fingers crossed for better luck next week!
Good question. Honestly, I’d probably recommend getting a GT4 and trying the Falken Tyre Challenge. It’s D class and fixed setup too. Also, it’s slightly better value because the car is also eligible for some C class multi-class series too, for when you get another licence promotion. I recently bought the Porsche Cayman GT4 and it’s a really cool car to drive, so i recommend that. Hope that helps!
I have my clip saved from lap 1 of the 24hr of spa. A car turned another one right as the drop of the green flag and wrecked half the filed before we made it to T1. It is just so disappointing watching people drive lately.
Ahh man, that’s so frustrating. It’s part of the reason I’m reluctant to do any endurance on iRacing… I don’t think I could cope with the crushing disappointment of a race being ended so quickly, after you’ve practiced for weeks for it! At least in this video, they were just 20min races I hopped into. Sorry to hear that mate
I couldn’t agree more. I just got into Iracing from ACC, made leaps and bounds, then had my safety and iRating dive bomb in this series. I refuse to fight for positions anymore because regardless of whether or not it’s your line, corner or what not, you will be taken out with prejudice. People are making ridiculous attempts at positions, rejoins, and just plain ignorance and lack of maturity. I think I’ve had enough of this series. Maybe back to ACC and LFM when the new season starts.
Yeah, my plan is to focus more on ACC and LFM next week when the new season gets under way. Even if you have a terrible race like this one, it doesn’t sting as much when you haven’t had to pay a premium subscription fee for the pleasure!
Usually around the high 1:47s or low 1:48s. I think the top ten were all in the 1:46s, and maybe even high 1:45s for the front row. My best hot lap in qualifying would be around a 1:47.6, down to about 1:48.3.
I just downloaded ACC and haven’t got many hours into it. I do like how I don’t have to pay for cars, tracks, and a monthly fee. But I do enjoy the variety in iRacing. I wish ACC also had open wheel road racing. I also need to figure out how to get into LFM. That sounds like the place to be in ACC.
Yeah that’s the only downside with ACC, the lack of variety. I try not to do too much GT3 or GT4 racing in other sims, so it keeps ACC feeling a bit more unique for me. I never used to rate it that much, but I’m really enjoying it lately.
I think the f4 is especially bad. I gave up racing in that series because the driving standards were so bad. I love the car, but the drivers were unbelievable (and I usually race the Porsche Cup).
I love the car too, it’s why I tried so hard to persevere and get a good race. I find it really easy to drive, which makes it even more difficult to understand why so many people lose control of it. I wonder if, because it’s so easy to drive, it tricks people into thinking they’re better then they are. Who knows. But it’s really disappointing. Imola last week was a mess - I decided against making a video, as I wanted to wait for a great clean race to use. But I think I’ll be waiting a long time for that in F4!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I wondered if the fast repair option was partly to blame. It's such a shame as it could be an amazing series. I think I tried about 12 races over 3 weeks and they were all chaos.
Haha yeah, I just about managed to keep my temper but it’s the closest I’ve come to a meltdown! And also the first time I’ve felt the need to file a couple of protests. Not good at all.
If you can’t be top 5 in practice in any series you will be more likely to have this experience. When I was chasing irating i would only race if I knew i could qualify min p7.
Yeah, that’s definitely true. Sadly I just don’t think I can go quick enough to qualify well in these higher splits. Until this week, I was usually in and around the 1.5k to 1.6k splits and I could normally qualify within the top 8 fairly comfortably. But no chance in these races this week. They were doing insanely fast lap times in qualifying. A few more races like this, and I’ll be back down to my usual 1.5k to 1.6k level, which is probably where I’m better suited, I think.
Well what if I told you LFM refused to ban someone for intentional rage punting. I expect it was one of their friends or patreon members. Instead I end up getting a life time ban for making a video about, after they had asked me to create a ticket to discuss the situation. Then they went back on that decision. That's when I tried exposed them. They said it was embarrassing to them (basically admitting they made a wrong decisions) but couldn't man up and make the right decision. Acting like politicians, just lying and expecting people to accept it as fact. Scummy behaviour. ✌🏼
Yes. And they seem to know exactly when it’s safe (for them) to bump a car off. The vast majority of people doing the hitting seem able to carry on without damage. The cars being hit - straight to the pits for them.
yeah i feel like 2k irating is when ppl really start going for more racing and blocking than the SR, some will be more patient but some other are going to go over the top lol
Wow, I didn’t know that! That’s very interesting to see how that affects things. Fair play to LFM, they do work really hard to make the racing as fair as possible.
@@chrisrogerssimracing yeah, I think its a great idea and I wish iRacing would do the same. If people knew they would lose places from being idiots they might think a bit more carefully about unsafe rejoins. As it is, you just get a light rap on the knuckles most of the time, or an SR penalty. the LFM system will give you an actual penalty people will care about, I think its great.
@@daviddavies3637 I think if people do proper reports after the race and dont shy away from making the reports in the first place, people who drive like hogs will get the time penalties added later after the race, changing the standings and altering their ELO, SR and points (if anyone really cares about championship points when not racing in sponsored classes)
@@daviddavies3637 Not sure, but think it is for all splits. It's probably needed more in the lower splits tbh. Be interesting to see how it works out but I think its a great idea.
I love driving the F4 and the F3 in iRacing. Great fun to drive but the races can be pretty horrible at times. I find F3 to be a little less chaotic than F4 because of the higher licence requirement but there is still plenty of carnage. I've recently switched to GT3 and while my pace isn't as good, I find the racing to be much cleaner than the open wheelers.
The F4 car is so much fun to drive, that’s why I persisted with so many races. It was a dream to drive at Watkins Glen… so grounded, plenty of grip, really easy just to hop in and drive. Which makes it even more inexplicable why SO MANY people can’t control it. Do you think, because it’s so easy to drive, it tricks people into thinking they’re better than they are? And they push too hard? It’s a mystery.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I think fast repair is partly to blame, plus the short races. People are aggressive because if they want to gain positions quickly, and they can get a quick repair if they crash. Once you remove quick repair, people are a little more cautious. At least I hope that's what happens. Its a shame because the open wheelers are terrific fun to drive.
@@Ross_McIntyre Ahh yeah, that’s a very good point. There’s a lot more to lose when you could spend 10mins in the pits. It probably explains why the F3 is a little bit safer.
The f4 is easy to drive until it isn't. I found that when the grip let go from overriding the car it was a rare day that you recovered it. It's also way less forgiving on the curbs than the f3. Plus the driving standards are garbage. I'm glad that the FIA have adopted it as it draws the loonies away from f3, driving standards are better in f3 as a result. Just avoid Friday, Sat.
Can't blame you for the rant. One of the biggest challenges for sim racing is to make it real enough for the hotlappers to actually learn racecraft and consideration for others. Not sure how though, maybe some sort of electric shock attached to their wheel? 😂
Haha! I’m open to any ideas at this stage! But yeah, you’re 100% right. The honest mistakes, I can accept - after all, we all make them. But it’s just all this recklessness of diving straight back onto the racing line in front of oncoming traffic. They were all at it. And just the general lack of ability to race closely alongside someone without clattering into them.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I think it is all about lack of self-awareness and training. I know when I make a mistake and spin out, my first reaction is to get on the way ASAP. I have to actively stop myself from short-circuiting my frontal lobe (the thinking part of brain) and think about oncoming cars and how to best avoid collision while trying to re-join. Feelings run even higher when somebody else takes you out and you have to re-join. Rage and anger are really good at short-circuiting your thinking brain. People just drive by their feelings and dont stop themselves before doing things. Many people dont really practice close racing and dont know how to react. Some drive too safely for a long time and then if they get pace, they dont know how to get ahead. Or fast hot-lappers dont know how to navigate traffic and making alternative lines
Can definitely agree. F4 driving standards are atrocious. Whether that's down to the difficulty of the car, people being new to open wheelers or just lack of talent or consideration for other racers, I don't know. But none of those factors make it any easier to deal with.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I'd be most interested in any content with ACC as that's what Im mostly on, only just started really but I'm enjoying it a lot, very addictive,I'm bit like you though only race few times a week but would like more.
@@kevjames21 Ideal, I’m starting the new LFM season on ACC next week, so reckon a lot of my upcoming videos will be on that. Maybe see you on track at some point!
Yes, I’m fast realising it’s not as clean as I expected it to be up there. It seems the aggression levels are amped way up! And people pushing WAY too hard. This was a rough week, for sure 🤣
This happened to me 4 races in a row today. Hideous rejoins and being shunted from behind. Multiple times in multiple races. The worst one I was in pole and someone shunted me from behind on TURN 1 and I had to pit in and came in almost last. I just stared iRacing 3 days ago, got out of rookies in 4 races and really hoped the racing in D Class would be better. It was worse. I went from safety 2.88 down to 2.38. iRating from 1500 down to 900 in one day. I have to give it a rest for a few days now.
Sorry to hear that mate. It sucks when that happens. I don’t tend to take any notice of my ratings any more, as it just gets too depressing when you have a bad run!
@@chrisrogerssimracing Thanks for reply. Was much better today. Got 3rd in a clean race in the Falken GT4 series. seems to be more respectful drivers there.
this is my argument with them, the stewards that look into these incidents don't give a flying fuck. nothing ever gets done, next day they are back doing it.. they even started getting argumentative in the replies to protests back to me, one of them even threatened me after being taken out by a guy re-joining from p2 last lap of an hour long ESS race, instead of actually doing something about the same old drivers ruining it with no care, i've just started making sure its the right person and literally destroying them on the next lap or next race (preferable final/first lap one of a 40 minute+ race) , half of the people doing it know what they are doing and its the same right up to 4K IR in my experience - I'm sick of it and i've been doing it maybe 5 months now on both of my accounts and neither have been banned and i feel a lot better as i dont care now.. my main is nearly 4350 and the other 2500.. i only use them for fun now, irenting has gone right down hill and the stewards are a joke.
Yeah, I’m becoming really disillusioned with it. I don’t like the lack of transparency with the protest system. I protested the first guy in this video who took me out at the very start - all you get back is an automated email to say they’ve reviewed it. They don’t tell you what the ruling is, or if any action will be taken. Compare it to the system in LFM where they publish details of every protest, including why they made the decision they did, and what the driver must do differently next time.
@@chrisrogerssimracing yes, this is half of the problem, i dont care what anyone says at iracing, 1 week long, 2 week , 4 week bans need to happen and other drivers notified properly. its easy to soon weed out people that need to change on track behaviour and that would stop the majority of it within 6 months. best of luck
It might not be called "Rookies" but at 1.6k you're still racing with rookies. Doesn't matter what letter they assign to your rating. It's so easy to get out of "Rookies" by just following the many tutorials.
Thank you Del, it’s always a consolation that I can turn something so bad into an entertaining video at least! Good to hear from you mate, hope you’re doing well too.
Yikes! Love the video and unfortunately, I can relate to your plight. I'm in rookies, and there are days sometimes weeks, with races like this. I agree with Ben's video that part of this behavior has to do with a lack of patience. Another key peice, is perhaps, a lcck of empathy. And probably, a lack of understanding the rules and ettequette. I get we're competing. However it seems many drivers have no sense of perception of other drivers as human beings. This video makes a strong case that Racing Etiquette might need to be an actual sim class in iRacing (perhaps other sims as well) that has to be taken and passed as part of getting out of Rookies. Maybe full on, all participant penalties when a certain percentage of drivers on the field exhibit this kind of unwellcome and unsafe behavior.
Yes, Ben made exactly the type of sensible points I’d like to have made, but I was too annoyed to communicate them coherently while ranting 🤣 I always try to promote good etiquette on the race track, as to me it’s one of the most important things out there. But it appears we’re in the minority!
@@chrisrogerssimracing There are days I have no doubt we're in the minority. Your generally positive and entertaining esthetic got me to subscribe to your channel. You do good work. Maybe, the answer is multifacited. One, I've heard joining a league is a good way to go as the league keeps a smaller group of mostly like minded individuals together on track. Two, i still think we can use our superpowers for good to nudge individual sim racers into a more positive, certainly less toxic, space, by talking out incidents after a race. Although I admit to having my blood boil when I get taken out it seems, deliberately; and when I make a mistake that takes out others, I am mortified. Right after the occurance, is probably not when I'm at my best for hearing or giving constructve feedback. Does anybody do a channel, where people submit incidents and get feedback that discuses/teaches racing ettiguette?
Are These the WORST Driving Standards in iRacing? Sadly, not even close. Over the space of four races last night in both the B and A class NASCAR events at Atlanta Motor Speedway, I managed to acumulate the grand total of 41 incident points from wrecks that had nothing to do with me. I ended up going from nearly 3 S/R down to 1.25 and my I Rating is shot too. Don't think for one minute that these were bottom split races, they were mid split, full of have a go heroes that should not be able to walk quickly, let alone drive! I feel your pain, I truly do. Until iRacing starts to police bad driving, there is nothing we can do apart from grin and bare it. My thoughts are that iRacing should introduce a Sin Bin racing category that you have to race a set number of races incident free before you are let out of the penalty box to prove that you are capable. Many people have suggested a vote at the post race lobby, this could be the entry point for the Sin Bin. To race in iRacing requires a certain amount of masachism, we keep paying the money, we keep participating in races knowing there will be pain and suffering with the miniscule chance that we end up in a lobby full of competent, fair drivers and we have fun.
Jeez, 41x from 4 races?! Now I don’t feel quite so bad! But yeah, you’re right… it’s the hope that kills us. Entering race after race, just hoping that a good one is out there somewhere!
I say hats off to you for sharing..... its shocking you have to pay good money for this service! ... I was contemplating a iRacing subscription this year to try it out... but no thank you I will stick with ACC and RR public lobbies for quick fix on demand racing....
I think I’ve finally reached the point where I’m with you, Nij. I just don’t think iRacing is worth the money any more, in terms of cash spent compared to enjoyment gained. Looking forward to getting back on ACC this week. Very nearly entered a Pitskills race at Silverstone this week to try it, but ended up trying this F4 combo instead. A regrettable decision!
Well, I commend you my friend! You have so much more patients with these rude idiots than what I could muster! I guess the question is how do they get that high of a rating with NO race craft at all!?!?!! I wouldn’t blame you one bit for abandoning this series! Come run the F4’s with us and have a great time!!!!! Astra’s this Sunday then the next Sunday back to F4’s. Fonight is BMW wet I, come join in, I know you like that car!!!! W
I wish I knew the answer to that question, Walt! My only guess, is that they do A LOT of races, and grind up their rating that way. Whereas drivers like me who race a couple times a week, require weeks to repair the rating damage of one bad race. I’ll definitely be back for a few more community races soon. I’m away this weekend sadly, but soon, I promise! 😃
@@chrisrogerssimracing facts , also don't feel bad about letting your frustrations out , I've raged out a number of times on live GT7 and ACC streams , it happens
Tough race buddy I don't understand it but Watkins Glen is always bad. The track looks easy but there are some really tough spots like the one where the guy backed into you. There is no room there. Still no excuse for bad rejoins but that's the way it is in Iracing. I had a race at Watkins glen where the same thing happened to me in turn one. Some people just don't want to go to the back.
Yeah, I think that’s the problem a lot of the time - barriers so close to the track, there’s nowhere for the cars to go when they crash. I’ve seen so many wrecks at the top of the Esses for the same reason… cars end up bouncing off the barriers on both sides, the track gets blocked and everybody else piles in! It’s a shame, because I absolutely love driving it!
It’s infuriating, isn’t it. It’s not the mistakes that bother me, everyone crashes occasionally. But the reckless and careless rejoins, that wipe out so many others, are just SO unnecessary, and spoil everything.
I’m sorry… but after watching that replay there was a big enough gap on one side so I’m surprised the car that collided into me didn’t hit the brakes and just go around the other side… food for thought but I do suck at rejoining
Ahh yeah, to be fair to you, the guy who hit you didn’t do himself any favours there… he was heading straight for you for quite a while, and kept it fully flat out. At least with my incident at the same part of the track (at the start of the video) I aimed for the gap 🤣 But it’s a horrible part of the track to crash at, because the tight barriers on both sides make it so difficult to rejoin without blocking the track. I know it’s painful to lose so many positions, but really the only thing you can do is stay still and wait for all the cars to come by before trying the U turn. Your first resting position after the spin was pretty safe, horizontal along the barrier, so a lot of the track was clear. But as soon as you try the U-turn, you dramatically reduce the amount of racing room for cars at racing speed to get by safely, increasing the chances of a big wreck. Keep your chin up, the best thing about mistakes is being able to learn from them 😃
This is EXACTLY the attitude that everybody should take. Drive it like it’s a real car - and like if you had to pay for the repairs when you scuff it or crash it!
@@chrisrogerssimracing They should make a sort of in-game economy where, each race earns you a certain amount of money, and you have to pay for repairs based on the damage you incurred during a race. Can't pay for repairs? Can't race that car any more until you have the funds to repair it. Just have a couple unranked sessions where you don't have to pay for repairs, like Street Stock, MX-5, etc. Could easily tune it to absolutely destroy anyone who drives carelessly, while having no impact on drivers who make a decent effort to drive safely.
This is why I avoid iRacing. When you have so little time to enjoy your hobby, and you have to deal with this sort of driving standards. I have to wonder if these people care about others. It must be the difference between a gamer and a racer.
Liked your highlights reel, though I wonder if the Benny Hill theme with the video sped up would have been more fitting. Is there no steward reviews and penalties in these races? I have yet to join any open lobby or even LFM races exactly because of the reasons you've proven here. People just don't care. It's a racing simulator, but they treat it like Need for Speed. I know you like to race different sims and different cars, but I can't help but recommend that you join a league and race with the same folks on a regular basis. Comradery is built, friendships made, and most importantly, everyone respects the racing and there are consequences to poor behavior like this.
A year or two ago, I raced a lot of community series, and I’m definitely heading back that way again. I started an rF2 BTCC community series the other week, which runs on Wednesdays and is great fun. Usually I struggle to commit to community series, as I don’t always know when I’ll have time free to race. Usually it’s in the afternoon, which is why iRacing always suits me. But I’m at the point now where I’m too fed up with it! It does have a protest system, but it’s not great. You only get an automated email to acknowledge receipt, and never get informed of any outcome/decision. Generally it appears they will only punish retaliation wrecking.
I love this combo , but I made the conscious decision to avoid it .. I run practice laps at it and check my times versus the other drivers on track, but I dont race . I know that it will begin that spiral of. I have so much pace, couldnt finish . just do one more race.. and by the end of the week im down 500 - 600 IR
You’re a wiser man than me. That’s exactly the trap I fell into. Every part of me was saying “don’t do it” but the eternal optimist in me kept thinking I’d get a good race out of it!
Thanks Metz. I caught some of your F1 stream last night, and what you had happen was even worse than this. Sorry you had to deal with that. These careless/reckless mistakes are one thing, but deliberate trolling is the absolute pits.
Probably because it’s such an expensive video game. These types of incidents happen in other sims too, but it stings so much more when you’ve paid a premium monthly subscription plus hundreds of $$$ on the content.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I see something parallel in online poker. You have people who have money but do not understand the nuance of the game and they will play a 6,3 suited instead of folding and end up taking you and your pocket AA out of the hand. Just like a rich newbie taking you out in a race.
Yeah, I love the IR4 car, but it was a nightmare for stuff like this. I'm driving the formula ford ( FF1600 ) and it is much better as it is a bit slower. I think the bigger communities get the more likely you are to see this kind of thing.
Ahh yeah, funnily enough I really fancied a Formula Ford race this week, but when I went to join, I think there were only 4 cars in the race, so I decided against it. I guess the grids are a bit healthier in the evenings.
@@chrisrogerssimracing that's the Tophy ( D class ) series. I do prefer that, but it's dead when there are paid tracks sadly. It can be great though, I'd recommend Donington/Brands weeks. I've been doing the rookie ones just because they are more populated and even that has been fun.
Wow....! I had this situation a short while ago in ACC....couldn't even buy a decent race! I just persevered on the safe side instead of going for the position and it seems to be working.... Higher rating doesn't guarantee a safe and enjoyable race unfortunately... Stick with it Chris....it'll work out...
Thank you Peter. At least I haven’t put all my eggs in one basket with iRacing. Plenty of other sims I enjoy. Looking forward to the new ACC season on LFM next week 😃
Yeah it’s a difficult one. RaceRoom has a similar thing called ‘wrecker prevention’ which can ghost a car once it’s spun out. It’s a bit of an immersion killer though.
Yeah great shout, I didn’t even think to mention that. But a lot of the crashes start with loss of grip (or clipping the grass ever so slightly). That corner where I got wrecked at the very start of the video… that one in particular seemed to cause everyone problems.
Funnily enough, I looked to join a pan FF1600 race earlier this week, before switching to F4! I really fancied it, but it was in the afternoon and the grids weren’t very big. I’ll definitely be giving it a try soon though. Enjoyed it when I raced it a couple times last season.
Sometimes when I have a string of bad races in a row, I just take it easy for a few races, and usually the results come automatically when other drivers take each other out up front. Then with renewed enthusiasm, and hopefully rebuilt confidence, it's time to start the cycle over again...lol. Maybe try something completely different for a while, purely for fun. I drove dirt stock oval races this week, which I have never done before, and they're a blast...
I’ve always fancied trying out the rallycross, so maybe I should give that a go for a week or two, until I’ve cleared this experience from my memory! Thanks for the tip, cheers 😃
@@chrisrogerssimracing Yes, RallyX is a lot of fun, but it takes a bit of practice to learn those cars (unless you've played rally games before). And a handbrake is recommended.
The irating and sr system works wel for the top 3 drivers who qualified best... they take of and after a turn or two they drive their own race and gain rating... The better midfield wants to improve but is just a buffer for that top 3 for those coming behind...Got a 3 month subscription with my Fanatec wheel but after my last races being bumped into, pushed of track and what not I'm not convinced to actually pay for it. Managed to get my sr up to almost 4 starting last or from the pits... once participating more in a race it just keeps going down.
Yeah, great point about the grid positions. Before my iRating grew recently, I usually had the qualifying pace to start from the front few rows, which made it a lot easier to avoid all this stuff. However, now I’ve jumped up to these higher splits, I’ve just not got the speed to qualifying any better than P14 or so. Which means I’m always right in the firing line!
@@chrisrogerssimracing For me it feels that creating splits based on qualifying times would reflect skill level more then just irating... it also evens out the battlefield more. My last race I qualified 6th out of 12... nr 1 ,2 and 3 were all 2 seconds faster... so even without incidents it's not even a race. Literally no one behind me bothered to qualify... I left the race because I didn't want to be a shield for people in front. Costed me 70 irating.
It’s exactly the reason why I kept going back to the grid and persevering. The car is such fun to drive! It’s really easy to hop in and drive too, which is why it amazes me that so many people lose control of it!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I wonder if this is more a vision problem than driving itself. People getting fixated on the cars around them and missing track references causing them to be in the wrong place at the wrong angle or speed. Either way it just seems like a series that attracts people that lack race craft sadly.
Hi Chris, shame you had to endure this... my theory is that when racing is available 'on tap', folks just tend to value it a lot less meaning they can just go hell for leather and if it doesn't work out they can just join the next session.. I know iRacing and LFM have the ELO and SR system (or whatever it's called in iRacing.. not joined up to it myself), but I believe these can be 'farmed' in some manner if there's a need to replenish either if you know what you're doing... It's one of the things that keeps me in rFactor2.. there may not be many players/leagues etc. and your multiplayer options are limited, but if you find the right groups etc. and are willing to accept it only happens now and again (which suits me, but then I'm not a content creator!)... just food for thought.. hope things are good with you otherwise bud :)
Thank you mate, really good points raised there. I agree completely. The BTCC series I’ve started in rF2 on Wednesdays is really good fun, so I definitely need to do some more of that. I always try to go where I’ll have most fun… I try not to let the channel, and higher views, dictate where I race. I find it’s much better to choose where I race naturally, and let the channel reflect that. I think this is the final straw for me with iRacing, I’ll definitely be looking at the more fun options elsewhere for a while. Cheers mate, thanks for watching 😃
@@chrisrogerssimracing hmm, Wednesdays isn't great for me (I work away one week on one off), but could dip in if you allowed that.. you got a discord or something for that? I promise to remember to engage 1st gear... honest!!!
@@qrzbuddha Of course mate! You’d be very welcome. There’s only two rounds left in the current BTCC series, Donington this Wednesday and then Brands Hatch I think. But I’m sure there will be another rF2 series to follow. We’ve only been getting 10-12 entries, so the more the merrier. If you scroll back a few videos in my channel feed, there’s a video from the first round at Thruxton. Here’s an invite to the SCB Discord… just head over to the rF2 Race Discussion channel and say hi, if ever you fancy it: discord.com/invite/dcfHb68fnQ
@@chrisrogerssimracing oh nice.. not heard of these guys.. joined up now and will keep my eyes peeled.. look forward to getting in your way sometime soon!!
@@qrzbuddha nice one! It’s a community I set up with a couple of other RUclipsrs, back when we were in lockdown. I’m the C of SCB, Ben of La Broca Sim Racing is the B! Sven is the S, who used to have a RUclips channel but doesn’t do it any more. But he still races the occasional rF2 race. It’s a good group, lots of race options through the week
I would say the last race it was your fault for the meatball you literally stop on the racing line if you kept going to the grass you would of avoided the meetball. Also on the first incident if you see a car of the track you should also no to slow down not just to go straight through it. Epically in lower splits. You claimed the higher splits were just as bad yes they are sometimes but at least the other guy stopped before rejoining.
Oh yeah, I place no blame at all on the guy who hit me from behind. Nothing he could have done differently. Not only was I in the way, but he was out wider too due to avoiding the wreck behind. I’m always very critical of my own actions, but I really couldn’t do anything differently there - that was a split-second I had to avoid the guy and take to the grass. I was out of control when I got back onto the track… no way could I have just rolled to the grass on the outside to get off the track… without braking hard, I’d have smashed into the barrier. So it would have been a meatball flag anyway, and likely I’d have bounced back onto the track and taken more people out. So I think it’s harsh to blame me - if the guy hadn’t tried to rejoin on a live track, none of it would have happened. As for the first incident, he was stationary, he was waiting, he left a line free - which is all the correct etiquette when you spin with racing traffic incoming. Even if I’d dropped a gear, and slowed slightly, he’d have still whacked it in reverse. So I’d have probably t-boned him, instead of get tagged by him. So again, I’d say it was harsh to blame me for that incident too. But racing is all about opinions, and I respect that 😃 Thanks for commenting, cheers!
@chrisrogerssimracing I guess yeah but still would of been better to slam on the breaks you had no one behind you so you wouldn't of been punted you may of still hit but let damage also maybe slamming into the wall may of been better as you still took out another driver but yeah drivers really should rejoin safely it does get better in the higher splits when you get around 2.5k
Well whenever you're p*ssed at people, there's Racing Life to make sure you're p*ssed at AI as well, available for both AMS2 and R3E last time I've checked :)
This is exactly why I don't race open wheeler's in iRacing. It is zero fun when your primary concern is who's cock-up is going to ruin your race this time.
Haha yes. I think, if I ran this series again, I’d be so scared, I’d just give everyone a wide berth and let them all by. Which defeats the point of racing in the first place!
It was obviously the fault of the Williams but I'm not sure why you gave him a gap on the left when entering the chicane. If I had to choose what side he would be on it would definitely be on the right since you practically straight line that chicane.
Yeah, you’re absolutely right. Thus is a symptom of me losing my confidence and faith in the drivers around me. I end up trying to leave extra space because I’m convinced they’re going to hit me… trouble is, it’s a vicious circle sometimes, as leaving a space invites them to try a move which then increases the risk of contact! It’s a mental barrier I have with iRacing.
@@chrisrogerssimracing That's exactly it. When playing soccer they say if you go into a tackle thinking you might get hurt you end up getting hurt. It's the same in motor racing. You can't be overly cautious. Half hearted attempts at both attack and defending is what leads to a lot of incidents. Have you ever noticed the cars that go around divebombing everyone probably have less incidents than everyone else? If people see your intention is to close the door no-matter what they will pull back. If they see your intention is to send it they will jump out of the way and by the time they realize you will already be past or away from them. The alternative is to give people space to go side by side but that also carries risk.
give RaceRoom a Chance. a similar ranking system and many nice online Events and ranked races ;) and the sound,.. oh man the RaceRoom sounds are amazing nice!
Ahhh yeah I love RaceRoom, it’s where I started sim racing. Sadly, lately I get more chance to race in the afternoons, so the RaceRoom races aren’t so well populated. I definitely want to get back on there soon though!
Nothing like a little bluegrass to lighten the mood. It sure can be frustrating sometimes. Surely things will turn around sooner or later, right? No? Oh well.
I was trying to emulate my childhood love of the Dukes of Hazzard and Smokey and the Bandit with that little montage! The eternal optimist in me still thinks there’s a decent race to be had there, if I keep trying. But for the sake of my sanity, I’ve called it quits for this week 🤣
So some of these complaints are a bit...weird. The episode at 8:50 you ignore incident yourself. It was a hopeless re-entry, but you made it worse by not slowing down. Just my opinion.
You’re absolutely right, not enough drivers (myself included) slow down enough at yellow flags. For this incident in question, though, honestly I didn’t even see it until it was too late. In my defence, no yellow flags came out at all. Sure, the cloud of smoke ahead was a clue that something was happening, but I was in the middle of going into the loop two-wide… all my concentration and focus was on making that risky pass safely. It momentarily took my attention off the horizon, and then it was too late to slow down. Also, in the past, I’ve found when I lift or brake for a yellow flag, more often than not I will get smashed into by the car behind. Now that’s probably a topic in itself for another video 🤣
@@chrisrogerssimracing Ok, I agree it wasn't that easy to spot :) Been testing F4 myself today, but imo it wasn't as bad as this video and some other YT reffering to. But I am in higer splitt I guess. Yeah, a bit more than what I am used to. But these F4 cars are very "racy" and the draft was enourmos :) Out of curiosity, are you sending in protests on some of these incidents?
@@newbietubey3773 The only protest I filed was over the very first incident at the start of the video. Again, I didn’t lift, but I felt he’d stayed still for long enough that it looked like he was waiting to let me past. To be fair, if I’d lifted and slowed down a bit, I’d probably still have been hit when he suddenly reversed. It’s only the second protest I’ve filed… normally I don’t get too annoyed and just accept mistakes as part of ‘heat of the moment’ decisions in sim racing. But this was a particularly rough week 🤣
@chrisrogerssimracing Ok. Don't get me wrong, kudos to you and the other RUclipsrs putting some attention to fairness and racecraft. I feel the frustration from time to time myself. But as long as I have played iRacing (2 years) and others sims, hopeless reentries are not a new phenomenon to me and I don't see it any worse or better than earlier. But the F4 might not be the best series if you want incident free races. It is also class D. So yes, you are making a point of the iRating, but remember you are racing in the lowest SR class :) But good video anyway and hope you have more pleasant and successfully races in the feature.
Well, actually I’ve only filed the one protest currently, and that was for the very first race incident when the guy reversed into me. Who knows if anything will come from it. I get the impression iRacing only punishes deliberate retaliation. None of these were deliberate… just very careless! Thinking I should probably file a report for the red car at the inner loop too, because that was a ridiculous rejoin.
I was thinking of trying the F4 again this week, think i wont. Shame to see but unfortunately selfish and wreckless drivers are plentyfull on most classes and splits. The higher the ratings and license classes go it seems to reduce the solo incidents but not the others. Been doing LMP3 races in topsplit and most agregious dissregard to others on track have been the 5-7k drivers not holding brakes and flying around on track trying to save a 360 spin or pushing their way through both traffic and competition with litle or no care for others survival. Love the videos, keep att it!
Thank you! I’ve been watching some LMP3 videos on RUclips and those cars look so difficult to drive. The F4 is pretty easy to drive, so if there are this many crashes in an easy F4, I’d be terrified to try the LMP3 🤣
When I first started sim racing the greatest of all was said to be iRacing. I innocently subscribed and after a day or two realised that to get anywhere was going to cost a small fortune. I unsubscribed after a week, to be honest watching this video it could be anyone from Basic Ollie, Dave Cam etc etc. Everyone is having the same problems. I'm so glad I'm not part of this. To me the whole system just looks broken.
Time has been a bit tight for me lately, so I’ve not watched as many videos from the top RUclipsrs as I usually do. But I’m kinda relieved to hear they’re suffering the same misfortunes… at least I know it’s not just me! My subscription expires in November, and I’d say I’m very unlikely to consider renewing it at this stage. I’m not finding it any fun at all these days.
@@chrisrogerssimracing no it's definitely not just you Chris. Dave Cam is very vocal about the problems. We simrace for enjoyable escapism but when it stops being enjoyable it becomes a bit pointless. I hope your luck improves 👍
I actually have not seen this kind of driving in ACC/LFM, the level of driving in this video surprises me
Whats LFM?
And in iracing you can get license downgrade course of idiots on track and would not be able to race your favorite series for a while before you get license back.
Hahaha just got to 11 mins in and I'm absolutely creased...
Haha, it’s the closest video yet to truly emulating Wacky Races! Loads of credible auditions for the role of Dick Dastardly 🤣
Great commentary
The worst thing about it is that sometimes there are idiots who blame YOU, and start using every insult in existence. Some drivers are just meant to stay in rookies their entire lives.
this is the first video of yours ive seen and im absolutely howling hahahah subbed. i know you wanna be positive in the videos but your rant was absolute gold
Nice one, welcome to the channel! Haha glad you enjoyed it, it always helps to take the sting out of a bad racing experience if I can turn it into something entertaining. Cheers for subbing, and hope you like the upcoming videos as much!
The rule of thumb that you can generally apply is to keep as far away as possible from anyone with an F1 livery
🤣🤣 hahaha I will remember this advice in future!
That's a pretty rough set of races, sorry you had to go through that! I love Watkins Glen but my experience on LFM in ACC was similar to this last season, lots of crazy rejoins and dangerous moves particularly around T1 and the inner loop. Can't wait for the new season next week though :)
Yeah, must admit I’m looking forward to getting back on ACC for the new season!
Indeed! Hopefully, the new penalty system will fix some of the bad behavior.
Just discovered your channel Chris, instant subscriber! You have a classic commentators voice; it's fabulous! Keep it up!
Thank you, welcome to the channel! Cheers fir the sub, and hope you enjoy the upcoming videos as much!
one of the best on YT tbh!!
The worst part of all this, they don't get protested for doing stupid moves unless they are intentional.
You can protest careless rejoins, which is what the 1st and 3rd incidents are.
I protested someone on dirt oval. They were on my outside coming to the green flag. Gave me absolutely NO room and pinched me into the tires on the infield then wrecked us and 6 cars coming to green. Apparently it was a racing incident… there’s no point in protesting.
The iracing protest system is a joke. Some bot will just respond with some lame autogenerated statement. Not even unsafe rejsens gets thru
@@chrisrogerssimracing
I think the big thing for me is that I am still having fun, and that’s why I’m willing to do it. Driving the cleanest laps I while dodging the field of bumper cars comes with it it’s own set of challenges to overcome (I am still hunting for the 0x top 3) 🤣
I will admit though that I sort of feel like the penalty for crashing out should be steeper.
It's crazy how some people race. Well done for calling it out, drivers with higher ratings should have clean as well as competitive standards.
Wait - LFM banned YOU for calling out the "idiots"?
You gotta love that commentary! You just couldnt catch a break.
Haha thank you mate, glad you enjoyed it. It’s always a good consolation after a nightmare race, knowing I can get some entertainment out of it 🤣
This is the first season where I've been taken out in F4 multiple times by people missing their breaking points by miles. There is definitely something up
Must admit I’ve not been brave enough to return to the F4 since this frustrating week! But the week before this, at Imola, was equally chaotic.
It's because all the wankers are on it now because bits FIA affiliated, they think they are good enough to make money or something on iRacing.
Another great video Chris, But for all the wrong reasons :(
standards only seem higher on rF2 LFM because there are not as many people driving there compared to iRacing.
Yep, the way I’m feeling at the moment, I suspect I’ll let me subscription run out. I enjoy LFM a lot more, particularly ACC recently but I’m also hopeful of a bit more rf2 participation this season. Maybe we’ll finally catch up on track!
Yeah, spot on. The sheer number of participants on iRacing means it’s always going to be more dangerous, sadly.
I’m just on RUclips today and I can agree I was racing mx5 yesterday against the most incompetent drivers in the world
I had people with more common sense in 1.3k range, but 2k???
Oh man, God loves a Trier......... great commentary as always buddy :))
Haha thank you Leigh. The eternal optimist in me kept the hope alive that there was a good race in there, somewhere. I was wrong… there wasn’t! 🤣
And yet, by virtue of finishing, you outperformed your door number in every race!
Haha thank you for pointing that out… I actually hadn’t even realised that! That does make me feel a little bit better about it 😃
You are spot on, good sir.
Problem is this series I don’t race it for the driving standards I maninly go for gt3 now
I've literally just had it today where someone intentionally jumped the start and took my rear wheel out BEFORE THE GREEN FLAG. I am sick of things like that affecting my stats when I hadn't even f*cking moved.
Ah yeah that is the worst. Getting wrecked on the start line - or the formation lap - is a nightmare.
its so tough to know the difference between a good driver who made a bad decision in the heat of racing and a driver with poor standards.
You are correct and I agree with you.
Today my license upgraded to d and I need to choose a series. Do you have any idea?
F4 series in iracing is simple. Either start from top 3, or at the back, mid pack is almost guaranteed death
Yeah, think I might start from pit lane and wait until the 4th lap to come out 🤣
The bluegrass music was perfect and gave me a good laugh. Hang in there Chris.
It was a nod to my childhood love of the Dukes of Hazzard 🤣 thank you mate
What lap time have you been qualifying with to put you at p15 like this?
Wow, what can you say! I get annoyed when I receive a track penalty, I'd never survive in Iracing 🤣🤣🤣 you are the most patient driver ever 👍
Haha yeah, I just about managed to keep my temper but it’s the closest I’ve come to a meltdown! And also the first time I’ve felt the need to file a couple of protests. Not good at all.
I never thought you could get hurt by watching a sim racing video but this one physically hurt to watch... so many idiots! Hope next week is better.
Haha! So true. At least it can’t get any worse…. can it?!
Inexcusable track etiquette. Worse than ANYTHING I have ever seen in LFM.
Yeah me too. It’s certainly making me look forward to the new LFM season more!
That's cap, I've seen some insanely bad stuff in LFM and even worse stewards.
@@lax4life0607 it’s been nothing but stellar, for me. Must be you.
Can imagine 2K irating is home to many drivers that have some pace but who are habitually aggressive and selfish drivers.
@@chrisrogerssimracing I'm also amazed how many people bump you of but manage to keep on going themselves...
LFM are introducing retrospective time penalties in the new season, sounds intriguing, maybe it will help.
Are they? How are they going to police it? Will it just be for the higher splits?
@@chrisrogerssimracing well I hope you find some positive races soon.
The editing and commentary of your videos is top notch!
That was a great video, first one I've watched of yours and love your style with the commentary and enthusiasm, new subscriber

Yes, I’m fast realising it’s not as clean as I expected it to be up there. It seems the aggression levels are amped way up! And people pushing WAY too hard. This was a rough week, for sure 🤣
well you been gaining irating so glad you had a nice clean run for a few weeks.

Haha thank you mate. Yeah I’m sure a short break will help get my enthusiasm back 😃
Tough race buddy I don't understand it but Watkins Glen is always bad.
I don't blame you for being upset. I've been SO ANGRY about the nonsense I've been dealing with in F3. 🤬
It’s infuriating, isn’t it. It’s not the mistakes that bother me, everyone crashes occasionally. But the reckless and careless rejoins, that wipe out so many others, are just SO unnecessary, and spoil everything.
@@chrisrogerssimracing Yes! But also the lap 1 dive bombs and risky moves on cold tires that cause multi car incidents. 🤬
Keep your chin up, the best thing about mistakes is being able to learn from them 😃
I wonder if they would behave like that in a REAL car where they can't get out their chair and make a cup of coffee?
Keep doing what you're doing Chris.
This is why I avoid iRacing. When you have so little time to enjoy your hobby, and you have to deal with this sort of driving standards. I have to wonder if these people care about others. It must be the difference between a gamer and a racer.
Yes, great shout. Video gamer mentality vs sim racing mentality.
I watched this open-mouthed. quite shocking the driving standards in a 1.8-2.0k rating lobby.
Thanks Metz. I caught some of your F1 stream last night, and what you had happen was even worse than this. Sorry you had to deal with that. These careless/reckless mistakes are one thing, but deliberate trolling is the absolute pits.
They probably actually are the worst driving standards in iracing considering it was a 1.8k SOF split.
iRacing is a video game. As the Joker famously once said "Why so serious?"
@@chrisrogerssimracing I think the driving in ACC is actually a lot cleaner than this. The unsafe rejoins in this video are ridiculous
Iracing should consider having cars go ghost when they are on the track at a low speed, like when they are crashed or rejoining
Yeah it’s a difficult one. RaceRoom has a similar thing called ‘wrecker prevention’ which can ghost a car once it’s spun out. It’s a bit of an immersion killer though.
I think they should do that in lower rated lobbies, assuming people with a 2K iRating or more should know better.
I think iracing brutal tire model might need some blame for many of the wipeouts.
Yeah great shout, I didn’t even think to mention that. But a lot of the crashes start with loss of grip (or clipping the grass ever so slightly). That corner where I got wrecked at the very start of the video… that one in particular seemed to cause everyone problems.
irating isn't what it used to be. 2000+ is now when you get better racing. You should give the Ray FF1600 a try it's a blast, and it's a free car!
Funnily enough, I looked to join a pan FF1600 race earlier this week, before switching to F4! I really fancied it, but it was in the afternoon and the grids weren’t very big. I’ll definitely be giving it a try soon though. Enjoyed it when I raced it a couple times last season.
Haha, Country music edit is gold!
I was taking my inspiration from my childhood love of Smokey and the Bandit!
@@chrisrogerssimracing they tend to be more fun:...splits of 6 cars only. My go to when I get frustrated with road
I love driving the IR-04 but racing like this put me off the series 😢
It’s exactly the reason why I kept going back to the grid and persevering. The car is such fun to drive! It’s really easy to hop in and drive too, which is why it amazes me that so many people lose control of it!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I wonder if this is more a vision problem than driving itself. People getting fixated on the cars around them and missing track references causing them to be in the wrong place at the wrong angle or speed. Either way it just seems like a series that attracts people that lack race craft sadly.
Not sure why people think higher split means safer driving, can be quick and be unsafe
So many people say it, but my early experiences tell me it’s just not true, sadly. This was worse than any rookie series I’ve raced in.
Also if you are having trust issues get racelab as you can see what licence class they are also if you want the safer racing try and get to A
Well whenever you're p*ssed at people, there's Racing Life to make sure you're p*ssed at AI as well, available for both AMS2 and R3E last time I've checked :)
AI racing does certainly sound way more appealing right now, having endured this!
Is it f4?
Yes it is
give RaceRoom a Chance. a similar ranking system and many nice online Events and ranked races ;) and the sound,.. oh man the RaceRoom sounds are amazing nice!
Ahhh yeah I love RaceRoom, it’s where I started sim racing. Sadly, lately I get more chance to race in the afternoons, so the RaceRoom races aren’t so well populated. I definitely want to get back on there soon though!
I subbed as soon as you mentioned Argyle!
Haha good lad! Buzzin’ for the new season! 🟢
They must be running out of parts for those F4's..!! 😁
Haha, honestly, the crash reel I included was only about 25% of the wrecks in that race. Would have been a 30min epic if I’d included all of them 🤣
So some of these complaints are a bit...weird.
@@chrisrogerssimracing
Ok, I agree it wasn't that easy to spot :)
Been testing F4 myself today, but imo it wasn't as bad as this video and some other YT reffering to. But I am in higer splitt I guess.
Yeah, a bit more than what I am used to. But these F4 cars are very "racy" and the draft was enourmos :)
Out of curiosity, are you sending in protests on some of these incidents?
So yes, you are making a point of the iRating, but remember you are racing in the lowest SR class :)
But good video anyway and hope you have more pleasant and successfully races in the feature.
So how many reports came out of all this footage?
@chrisrogerssimracing in low speeds its terrifying, but not as scary as the lowsplit GT4 traffic in multiclass. Its a interesting challenge.
