    In this video we find out what happens if we dump the puck in every single time. It's a strategy a lot of NHL teams use, but can it also be used in men's league hockey?

      What gets me is the constant direction changes - it takes a lot of energy to stop then go in another direction, accelerating quickly. It's no wonder they can only stay out for about a minute.

    Flip it in towards the goaltender from outside the blue line. No matter the speed of the shot, the unpredictable bounce of the puck gets make it really tough to stop sometimes.

    dump-in is kind of a system thing...the forwards need to consistently push the opposite side, and pressure the puck. They also have to have the energy and endurance to continue to put that work in. Dump and chase is a system that doesn't require high amounts of skill, but it does require players to have the right instincts, apply the right pressure, and have the right cardio.
    Also, this goalie had your number all night. When the goalie's hot, NOTHING works.

    • @CoachJeremy

    • @DanielDoty
      @DanielDoty Год назад

      That’s a good idea

  • @jump312
    @jump312 Год назад +1

    dump and chase is a complicated strat that will abuse any cardio differences in your team, if you use it, you gotta take it to the end of the game and keep th e other team on thri feet the whole time, the idea is to make them run outta steam for the last 10 mins, and in that 10 you gotta do as much possible damage on the board as you can, for the other 50 mins you gotta be skating the other team into the floor under the ice. hitting them after the dumps are a good way too to slow down the passing, also the 2nd man in off the dump needs to take away that wrap around pass, maybe not stop it from happening, but stopping the plays momentum off of the pass allowing for more time in their zone for a mistake.
    honestly this was a fun one to watch.

  • @freeform23
    @freeform23 Год назад +3

    We used to call it dump AND CHASE. I also would do it much closer to the blue line to make that easier and let you take advantage of odd-man breaks where it would be pointless to do this. But it was a fun watch.

  • @noupf69
    @noupf69 Год назад +3

    Love it !!! I’ve got my mens leauge team doing the dump and chase when we can.... or when somebody doesnt have another option. We gain possession more than 50% of the time when we do it and it usually creates havoc for the other teams D and goalie. For you guys though, your dump ins had little to no strategy . Simplest way is to rip it around the boards, and try to pick it up in the other side. ( example, Left winger or left d dumps it in hard around. Right winger goes in and pressures their left d and get some support from another forward and vice versa. ). Sometimes goalies try to come out and stop the wrap arounds too and it creates great scoring chances due to mis communications or mistakes in handling the puck. You guys did a lot of cross corner dumps and made it too easy on their d. Keep practicing lol !!!

  • @FrankenBerry_BSC
    @FrankenBerry_BSC 10 месяцев назад +1

    I think the blue line dumps actually were hurting you a bit more oppose to a traditional red, would allow the other forwards more time to build up speed. Also, you can't go 3 hard on the forcheck.
    When you do pick up the puck, you can't really send it for a 1 timer like you can off the rush. You might have to transition into a cycle game a bit more.
    At the end of the day, you guys got nice hands, good top speed, and got shooters on the ice so you dont really need to be dumping it in. I play with gritty country guys that are strong and have high endurance, so sending them on the race into the corner is actually a pretty good play, after we get possession we cycle + crash net. I'm actually thinking about switching up because even in a no checking league I still get my ass kicked playing that way.

  • @ArchieCrypto
    @ArchieCrypto Год назад +6

    One of our teams strategies from years back was to dump and chase. It works great when the defenseman dump it in and all three forwards go right in as fast as they can. It causes a lot of confusion, forced bad passes, and goals. But you have to dump and chase hard.

  • @beezer5623
    @beezer5623 Год назад +1

    I used to run specific plays off the dump in. So the off wing would stay wide, hard dump around the boards so he could get it just inside their blue line. Center stay high middle dots. The wing could then hit the center, or carry in a bit. If no center pass,hit the other wing behind the net, try to hit the center, back to the point or back to the other winger.
    With Jeremy strat, you have to have hit their zone with speed, cant give the D time to make that pass clean, the off wing or lagging center needs to cover that breakout pass along the boards.

  • @luukecCZ
    @luukecCZ Год назад +3

    Like the trolling aspect and trying something stupid to see how it goes, but normally that is an icing if the puck crosses two red lines, so you need to move after the center red line to dump it into the corner.. Not too sure what league you guys play, looks like the refs don't care about icing at all, but in normal hockey you would'nt be able to do it like that..

    • @inferno715

    3rd line dump and chase. 1st and 2nd line carry the puck, keeps the other team guessing. When dumping it in try to ring it around the the boards so the other winger cant put pressure on the D.

    A lot of Swedish teams do dump and chase since the early 90:s. I hate it. It's better to never dump and always hold on to the puck like 3 on 3 play and leave the offensive zone instead to maintain possession. If the first carrier can't find an open player before or after rounding the net, leave the zone and pass in the neutral zone for a second wave and keep doing that. If the opponent never gets brake away's and can only get the puck on face offs it makes it hard and frustrating for them. They open up.

      Dump and chase is an inferior system generally, but especially at the lower levels where players may not be able to pass and possess the puck as well it can make sense. If an NHL team adopted it I would laugh, but for a peewee team or something I get it.

  • @DjangoAV
    @DjangoAV Год назад

    It works better in contact hockey because of the nature of the system, you dump when all other options are out usually or from a call from your coach for a change up, etc..
    You apply 2-1-2 forcing the puck on the side and that’s already covered buy the 3 rd player, you are trying to force a mistake and reverse the attack while still covering défense. Without real body interference, forcing players out of play, this is a lot more difficult to force the other team into it.

    You had no follow up on your dump ins. So you should get control of the puck and have your forwards start streaking to the line then when you dump it in they are already at speed so they would get to the puck first. You guys never really had anyone streaking toward the line on your dump ins.

    the entire concept of this is counter pressure and potential man marking, with nobody properly following in and nobody man marking the outlets its very easy to play against and it just forces your own teammates out of position. i think the point I'm making is when done right it can work very well, if you've not drilled it/your team lacks the fitness, avoid avoid avoid.

    Why are you dumping and chasing in a no contact league? Dump and chase is part physical, grinders get in and take the body and cause chaos. They wear down defensemen. They pressure not only with hockey but with taking the body. In your league I would just skate the puck in. For instance the team you faced in this game for wasn't playing some super Trap defense. You could have skated in all day but decided to dump and chase, but really it isn't needed. But if you had fun trying it, why not.
