For those curious, Since watching this MV we’ve listened to the full version of the song. That second verse really opens things up and the way he goes deeper into his inner thoughts was 🤌🏻🤌🏻. SUGA is on another level with this song. It’s of course been on repeat this week on our CCW playlist, as well as a couple others 😉
Remember that this album is based in the book map of the soul , so they took the archetypes of Carl jun ( persona , shadow , ego, etc ) to do this songs , those were their inspiration for the songs and the album , the book said if you accept each of all the archetypes in you , you will reach the SELF aka the individualization , aka you actually love yourself , so in this album BTS show us how those archetypes look on them and how they accept it. So in this song suga is telling that his shadow is him being a afraid to be so high that will make him being alone , and disppair which is not what he hope it going to be if he reach the fame , so he is accepting his shadow at the end that it doesn’t matter how many times he try to supress it , it will came back cuz it’s part of him ( everyone has a shadow by the way). In RM songs he is accepting his persona , and in jhope he is accepting his ego. Boy with luv is the groups accepting their persona , black swan they are accepting their shadow and in ON they accept it all of it and reach the SELF.
Shadow es un temazo, por su producción musical y porque Yoongui una vez más se desnuda por dentro, y muestra la persona tan interesante que es! Se me hizo corta la reacción, verla dos veces que nos encanta!
It's funny. Yoongi is the most introverted, but at the same time, he also the most open about himself and his struggles. While the others might talk louder, he's the one that says the most.
Persona(RM) - Shadow(Suga) -Ego(Jhope) tells personal story of the Rapline , depicting their journey and obstacles they have to overcome as they rose to fame. These songs showcases the lyricism and artistry of the trio. BTS rapline is 💥 , as what we can see on their solo albums now
a few things: 1. the song in its entirety has a second verse and a second pre-chorus. the transition is not as abrupt as it is in the video, even though it is there to amp up the drama/dark shadow 2. the live performance in his d-day concert is amazing. the symbolism. the production. especially when you see the choreo/camera phones and the audience and their cameras capturing his every move. 3. yoongis solo videos just hit different. he is a natural story teller. attention oriented. flare for drama and acting. raw and passionate. love that he can assume any role.
I would have liked guys to see a video with lyrics before because the original studio version from Spotify lasts 4 minutes, a large part of its verses are cut, it even dialogues with its shadow and the Mv would make more sense of what Suga wants to express the lyrics are important in this song but his interpretations of how Yoongi and the rapline handle his alter ego for reflections in his songs were very close and precise.❤ Some Easter eggs of this song Are you right, the same sample from Namjoon's intro is used in O!RUL8,2? even the album logo is seen for a moment Suga uses it to take the role of her younger self responding to her dreams from the past In the second verse (the cut verse) is when the tone of voice changes and begins to speak this shadow with Suga also called a monster saying "And on top of that, you have a big house, big cars, big rings" referring to his past verses in No More Dream and Home The same goes for mentioning "This Shadow" said earlier in his song The Last from the first mixtape and then casting that in a more positive light in his Magic Shop verse. It will even make more sense when you read those songs again don't drop the song it's a delight to listen to it after a while and Shadow's live on his recent tour was wonderful
This 💯! It’s kind of weird none of their patreon or discord people made sure they got the full song or were at least made aware that they would only see part of the song in the MV. Sad, because you miss a lot of the meaning by only getting this.
I saw people mention this issue on prior videos, because they knew this song was coming up. Even I chimed in to reiterate what others told them about there being an extra verse and they should do just the song first to get all of it before the video. I guess nobody paid attention to those comments.
I think they got the gist of the song even without the second verse and longer version. They usually don't do deep dive of the lyrics and often they react as to how the video is presented. It's similar to when the music video was first presented to ARMY in early 2020 before we got to hear the full version later from the release of MOTS album so don't expect so much of a lyrics deep dive from them. Unless they also react to an explanation video like they did with Spring Day, they are consistent on all the BTS music videos on how they react to the songs, visuals and music so don't expect them to catch nuggets like music sampling from previous songs or flashes of name from O!RUL82 album in this music video.
When Daniel said, "it felt like 2 songs", I thought "that's the genius of Suga/BTS"... Interlude:Shadow is about the other side of the self... Map of the Soul album is thematically based on Jungian psychology. Everything about this album is amazing!
PLEASE check out the full version.. there’s a whole kickass verse that is not in this video😢 Also u guys Must watch the explanation video for this song. It will take ur experience of the song to a whole different level!!! ❤
YES THIS! This song is so much deeper, so please reaction to the full version and explanation. There’s a video by DKDKTV (explained by a Korean) that’s really good so please check it out 💜
I forgot which video, but I remember Suga saying that he spent so much time writing Interlude: Shadow that RM had to do the most work writing the lyrics in the album...so when you listen to Interlude: Shadow, you will find that it is one of SUGA's most vulnerable works ever because he is living the words of this track. I love this song so much I can't stop gushing about it. 😊
This song is pure SUGA to me. He’s often talked about being too greedy (I can’t think of a better word) and trying to reign that in and staying grounded while also being really scared at the heights they were going to. He’s said many times that after their first billboard award, he cried after. Not out of joy, but out of fear of the unknown of where they were headed as a group because he knew they were only getting bigger from there. There really was no roadmap for them as they became more and more popular. It’s why he’s so good and open with younger idols. He wants to be for them what BTS didn’t have. He’s said he has so much to share and teach and I genuinely think he loves doing that, even with the other members. He’s really encouraged the more inexperienced ones to write and pushed them out of their comfort zone in the best of ways.
The song actually has another verse + pre-chorus and Chorus before the music changes into the shadow part . I wish it was the full song in the MV. Verse 2: SUGA] Try smiling, what are you hesitating for? Wasn't this the kind of thing you were hoping for? Or cry instead, what are you scared of? Wasn't this the kind of thing you'd been wanting? The life you hoped for, the life you wanted The life you chose, you achieved everything without regrets And on top of that, you have a big house, big cars, big rings All the things you wanted, you've got it all So what's the problem? Just enjoy it Or just let it go, no? Then run, or stop Don't whine, just choose one or the other
Before I watch I just wanna say this song has a special place in my heart. When this came out and it was prolly my first comeback as army, I just straight up bawled my eyes out watching the mv and reading the lyrics. Yoongi has a way with words that always felt so raw and vulnerable and my heart broke listening to this song the first time 😢
Shadow has a deep meaning ,you can feel how passionate he is by the way he was rapping but overall suga talks about the pressure of being an idol you can tell by the mv and all those flashing lights
Yoongi as i've always say this whenever i commented Suga's video , he is really an Extraordinary artist! He is depth! His songs are always meaningful. All of Yoongi's MV is so effortly top notch --- Daechwita, Haegeum, Amygdala, Shadow. Visual 100% Cinematic 100% Performance 100% Lyrics 100% Produced his own, BTS , and other artists music rap, sing , dance, play piano, guitar ,directing his own mv ,, act, good looking , What a versatile Yoongi! Miss him so much!!
Interlude: Shadow continues their exploration of Jungian psychology in relation to BTS. YOONGI is expressing his conflict with his own shadow, a metaphor for all of his doubts, fears and insecurities with being at the top. At the top the spotlight is at its brightest - making your shadow even longer - of all the rxns to this song maybe only one person commented on when he was moving backwards in retreat from the bright lights - in the end he reconciles w his shadow as a part of himself and moves forward as a whole person. From this to finally walking through the door of his Amygdala at his las DDAY concert before enlisting - Yoongi’s path to his peace has always been in full display for his beloved ARMY💜
This man is my bias for a reason! I love Yoongi's songs. Very deep, but the lyrics is easy to interpret. He loves putting the symbolism in the visuals. Thank you for a great reaction, again!💜
Actually the door in the mv is an inspiration from Anish Kapoor‘s installation art called “Svayambh” which can means “self-made” and it has its own deep meaning. I love how bts always take care of those small details bc everything would always means something. It’s so fun to read bts song analysis and theories so I’d really recommend that! Yoongi is truly a legend.
I was scrolling through to see if anyone had mentioned this! It's such an interesting and meaningful addition to the visuals! So thank you for having the information and sharing it, for anyone who didn't know to be able to see it! 💜
I like the full version of this song which is much better than the mv version🫶🏻 Map of the soul concepts is from Jung philosopy, Jung believed that the human psyche, or the body, mind and soul, was made up of three parts: persona, shadow, and ego. This idea inspires our namjoon which starts questioning about “who am i?” The intro of the ablum- persona. and it starts to begin the linkage of the solo songs from the 3 rappers, and the whole concept among the series of map of the soul albums.
This song and mv is a masterpiece, yoongi is truly a musical genius! The flow, the lyricism, the voice distortion and switch up used as a tool for storytelling, the visuals, just the overall production… it’s been years since this came out yet i still get goosebumps! Gabriel saying “there’s no closure” that’s the point. If we understand the context we can easily tell it was intentional for the song to end on that note. I’m sure y’all have listened to the longer version already but yea he gets even deeper into it. I’ve always admired how open and vulnerable yoongi can be in his music bc it’s really not easy to do that. I feel like that’s why a lot of people feel drawn to him and relate to him a lot.
Aww it's Shadow by my beloved Yoongi 🥰 Suga is a great lyricist, if you would always take the lyrics in a bit deeper, you'd definitely appreciate it. His flows too are so him!! RM and Hobi too write lyrics so well. It's what made BTS, BTS. Thanks for this reaction CCW 💜
Suga is my bias and this song is crazyIt is a song with a great feeling, the great work behind each of their songs is really incredible, I love it Thanks for reacting 💗✨
Love this song so much, and the "shadow" voice as the last part. Cannot get enough of him. Edit: the irony, during D-Day concert on this song, the backup dancers surround him like the crowd with phones and everyone around me the audience was just like that, focused with the cameras instead of just watching and absorbing the performance. I can relate to wanting to capture the moment so not trying to criticize or critique but the people pushing and shoving with their phones and holding them up above their heads reminded me of the video so much. i've been where everyone respects the 'don't hold ARMY bombs or phones above your head' approach and everyone could actually see and get the video they tried to AND could actually absorb the performance so much better. It was kinda sad to see the MV in life while he is performing that song.
The cameras and phones at the end remind me of when some of the top K pop star arriving or departing at the airport. How bad it gets can be scary for anyone.
U should react to Suga' s various other songs like Seesaw SDL People pt 1 Moonlight Nevermind Set me free pt 1. That that(psy's song ft suga). He has even produced ringtones for Samsung one in 2021 n the other one in 2022 brilliant piece of music
i remember my very first time reacting to this song: the last section of the song when the switch up happens to indicate his shadow's voice was so jarring that I was shocked to the point i had no idea how i felt about it then immediately upon my second listen & still to this very day, it remains one my favorite switch ups in a song, hands down. not only is it an absolute BANGER, but the textures + emotions created by the change in backing track AND yoongi's vocal delivery alone paint sucha clear picture, even without the (stunning) visuals of the video. it can't just be me feeling this way right??
Suga is the most introverted but he puts the most of himself out in his music. Our rapline are lyrical genius. All of our OT7 is. I love our guys so much. 💜💜🥹🐱
ohmygosh my favorite song from the album and from Suga 🥲this song means a lot to me Edit: This was the song that made me love Yoongi even more. When I first heard this song and saw the MV, I literally cried a lot. Not knowing why til I realize I felt seen as a creative (although I'm not like Suga or BTS). You wanna reach your dreams but as soon as you gain attraction, the more your "inner demons" start to eat you up. Eventually, you feel like the light you wanna reach so badly becomes your enemy. But sooner or later, you need to accept your shadows, make it your friend, in order to push on forward in life. Such a deep song. 7:46 the MV is a shorter version of the song. This doesn't include the second verse.
I feel you 😢 Not even as an artist myself but I’ve always been kinda a high achiever and the way Yoongi described that feeling of reaching these dreams or goals then suddenly being confronted with your deepest fears of failure so much so you can’t even enjoy the feeling of “being on top” or having achieved this level of success is like a shot of arrow to my heart 💔
I heard this somg for the first time with no visuals and no lyrics and i wasnt sure how to feel about it at first. But the more it progressed the more i FELT and i was anxious and unsure why. So he did his job. The more i delved into it with the video and the lyrics and explanation and knowing more about the album in full (especially persona/shadow/ego) i truly LOVE this song now. It always makes me feel really deeply unsettled in the best way.
I really really love his solo songs in bts albums because they are so different from the other songs. When I read the lyrics of Sugas' songs, especially AgustD works i don't see it as a window into his inner self, but a slap of his true raw emotions, such as this song, Amygdala, First Love, The Last, People, and Dear my Friend.
having to pause cuz omg. Yoongi is SUCH a pisces. as a fellow pisces i'm really feeling it. the symbol of pisces is two fish swimming in opposite directions; one upstream and one downstream. its about being a person full of contrasts and opposing desires. is this song not just absolutely THAT?
It’s interesting, Suga became my husband’s bias even before finding out their birthdays are one day apart. “Contrasts” is definitely a good descriptor. 😂
Weirdly... I always get emotional watching this video 😂 I really don't know why. 🤔 For me at the time of release, it was a pivotal step in his artistry. I was so proud of Suga and it always bring me back to that place and time whenever I watch this video. I do know that I love the breaking glass for sure. I also put my fingers up and say "Pause" every time!! 😂 Just Genius!! Suga never looked back and today he stands on top of the world and has probably exceeded all of his musical goals and expectations. I can't wait see what he envisions in 2025, as far as career direction outside of uniting with the group. Loved your reactions, au usual. 💜💜💜💜
this song really catch my attention when it's been released. As usual, I always got worried abous Suga because his song isn't just song, there will be deep meanings and his part of life will be shown in the song. The deep love towards Yoongi The True Artist will never fade, it will keep growing. thank you for the reaction guys. lots of love
One of my favorite songs by Suga. The lyrics are just perfect. The fact that yall said yall know there's an explanation video but you only got a shortened version kinda sucks. Hopefully yall watched it on your own. I would rather get like one video a week knowing yall actually had time to like read and understand the lyrics. Especially like this song. Please don't feel like yall have to put out so much and like fly through everything. Take your time and really appreciate their art. I know that rap isn't really yalls favorite genre..... And yes i know they'll get to listen to the whole song when they get to Map of the Soul 7
This song hit hard, I don't think I took a breath through the whole video. It truly made me cry the first time I listened. 😢 It's so raw you can feel his pain.
Summer's spot on with Yoongi's songs being thought-provoking!! Y'all have great analyses on both the lyrics and video. Thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Interlude: Shadow with CCW! 💜✨
I love this song so much, it give me the chills and the tears everytime. I remember from the book, it say this is the time when his anxiety at it worst.
I love Shadow so much!! I hope you guys can react to the full version. Also Once you guys see JHope’s Ego, you could check out Bookish Theories explain videos for the Rapline trilogy of these songs, Intro: Persona, Interlude:Shadow and Outro: Ego!💜
This song and the Mots7 album holds a special place for me and my girls. This is our "BTS New York" album. The day this album dropped they were in NYC on the Today show and we won tickets and drove 10 hours to NYC the night before the show. We literally celebrated with the rest of Army in Rockefeller Center outside freezing for hours! But it was worth it. We celebrated this album drop that day with BTS💜✨️ They did an interview and spoke about the album. It is the most sureal special feeling in your heart to experience that! This album has its own special feeling with this group of songs. This is my fav song by Suga and this is my absolute fav album. Our hearts truly belong to these 7 amazing human beings💜🫰💜🫰💜🫰
Are you guys gonna continue the album reviews? I think it'd be great because BTS have very distinct themes in each album and listening to the songs from start to finish gives a whole other experience than just listening to them individually. So if you do get the chance and can fit them in, id love to watch your reactions to the full albums. And watching albums in chronological order also shows you how much they have grown and their music has grown with them
2:37 *_hAJimA_* 😆 I love the part when the shadow takes over, it's so powerful. I also extremely enjoy SUGA's songs like this one that are just so emotional, you can hear his struggle in his voice. Video is crazy good, I got shivers when I watched it a first few times. But the heavy guitar part is my fav, still gives me goosebumps. Also, Summer, that lipstick suits you so much! ☺
Thank you..shadow my fav song of suga bts.

Suga es extraordinario,

Es impresionante.
Reaccionen a your stell de BTS, Love myself, y cristal snow,Stal gold.

Yoongi is not just a singer, not just an idol, not just a rapper, he is a TRUE ARTIST. Periodt.
Yesssss💜
Exactly
Periodt!
LITERALLY I agree
Suga is an artist in the truest sense of the word💜
It's funny. Yoongi is the most introverted, but at the same time, he also the most open about himself and his struggles. While the others might talk louder, he's the one that says the most.
Basically, the closer you are to the light, the bigger your shadow becomes.
This concept is so poetic and I love it so much
Yeah
Persona(RM) - Shadow(Suga) -Ego(Jhope) tells personal story of the Rapline , depicting their journey and obstacles they have to overcome as they rose to fame. These songs showcases the lyricism and artistry of the trio. BTS rapline is 💥 , as what we can see on their solo albums now
Yes!!

Some Easter eggs of this song
Are you right, the same sample from Namjoon's intro is used in O!RUL8,2?
even the album logo is seen for a moment Suga uses it to take the role of her younger self responding to her dreams from the past
In the second verse (the cut verse) is when the tone of voice changes and begins to speak this shadow with Suga also called a monster saying "And on top of that, you have a big house, big cars, big rings" referring to his past verses in No More Dream and Home
The same goes for mentioning "This Shadow" said earlier in his song The Last from the first mixtape and then casting that in a more positive light in his Magic Shop verse.
It will even make more sense when you read those songs again don't drop the song it's a delight to listen to it after a while and Shadow's live on his recent tour was wonderful

The song actually has another verse + pre-chorus and Chorus before the music changes into the shadow part . I wish it was the full song in the MV.

que saudade que eu tava de ver as pessoas chocadas reagindo a essa música, quando saiu o fandom todo surtou, o yoongi não erra nunca
genius musician suga ✨
Suga is my bias and this song is crazyIt is a song with a great feeling, the great work behind each of their songs is really incredible, I love it
Thanks for reacting 💗✨
Shadow song came first in which suga sang "i want to be king " and after that he released Dwaechita singing "i am the king"
SUGA -SEESAW LIVE
CCW reaction : this song is deep....
Jin while eating lobster : yumm..i wanna be a lobstar..
The cameras and phones at the end remind me of when some of the top K pop star arriving or departing at the airport. How bad it gets can be scary for anyone.
I'm still waiting for your reaction to"That, That", guys
+1
U should react to Suga' s various other songs like
Seesaw
SDL
People pt 1
Moonlight
Nevermind
Set me free pt 1.
That that(psy's song ft suga).
He has even produced ringtones for Samsung one in 2021 n the other one in 2022 brilliant piece of music
i remember my very first time reacting to this song: the last section of the song when the switch up happens to indicate his shadow's voice was so jarring that I was shocked to the point i had no idea how i felt about it
then immediately upon my second listen & still to this very day, it remains one my favorite switch ups in a song, hands down. not only is it an absolute BANGER, but the textures + emotions created by the change in backing track AND yoongi's vocal delivery alone paint sucha clear picture, even without the (stunning) visuals of the video. it can't just be me feeling this way right??
Suga is the most introverted but he puts the most of himself out in his music. Our rapline are lyrical genius. All of our OT7 is. I love our guys so much. 💜💜🥹🐱
ohmygosh my favorite song from the album and from Suga 🥲this song means a lot to me
Edit: This was the song that made me love Yoongi even more.
@@myouniverse0613 😭🫂
That transition always reminds me why Suga is called "chameleon". He can do anything! I love him for that!
Suga became my bias because of Shadow. After that. Im an ARMY.
Shadow my beloved 💞 the full version with the second verse is even better 😁
One of my fav Suga's song💜
When I first saw this, I had the same reaction as Summer! I liked it so much. Absolutely love Suga's artistry and his music
having to pause cuz omg.
You gotta react to the longer version because it's very deep and it has a little of band in the back~😩💜✨
Explanation vid by DKDKTV is a must for this song
Suga es hermoso y gran artista,
Reaccionen a mas videos, se demoran mucho, mas canciones de bts y hignotes de bts
Everything about this (and Yoongi) is legendary!
Summer's spot on with Yoongi's songs being thought-provoking!! Y'all have great analyses on both the lyrics and video. Thoroughly enjoyed revisiting Interlude: Shadow with CCW! 💜✨
I remember when this album was dropped down...
I was screaming when i saw this MV it's sooooo cool and you reminded me of this great song
You all would've enjoyed his D-day concert. His raw vocals and live band... it's an amazing experience!
Ah, Yoongi and RMs lyrics are my kryptonite. They always have me tearing up.
literally one of my favorite songs
Our hearts are broken when he sang Snooze at the Seoul concert finale😢 So many great songs from Yoongi💜
I love this song so much, it give me the chills and the tears everytime. I remember from the book, it say this is the time when his anxiety at it worst.
As músicas do Suga são perfeitas 😍
I love Shadow so much!! I hope you guys can react to the full version. Also Once you guys see JHope’s Ego, you could check out Bookish Theories explain videos for the Rapline trilogy of these songs, Intro: Persona, Interlude:Shadow and Outro: Ego!💜
This in one of my top song from SUGA! Thank you guys, love all of your reactions to this song! :)
did Gabriel just use 'hajima' to the kid lmao cute
Right 😂 I that I misheard😂😂
Love this song, when his shadow talks to him gives me goosepumps.
OMG this Song 🔥🔥💜💜
SUGA IS A GENIUS 🔥💜
Suga is a genius 💜
The full songs is actually 4 minutes and is much deeper for the lyrics video
Shadow is the song that made me Yoongi biased. 3 years ago when I became Army, I listened to MOTS7 constantly.
YESSSS, MY FAVORITE SONG AND MV!
One of my faves. Guys you can check out the finale of Agust D tour in Seoul. You can see the other side of Yoongi there.
I love this song but I also can’t wait for EGO! 🤩 my favorite Jhope song.
Genuinely one of my favourite songs 🥺 please listen and read the lyrics of the extended version if you get time! It’s masterful 🤍
"I didn't get the closure I needed." - Gabriel. This made me laugh 😂
I love this MV. It's perfection.
shadow is by far one of my absolute fav bts songs!!! to be honest its in a cat by itself bcz there is nothing i could compare it too
Listening to this makes me want to watch the concert again. I really hope they release it on DVD eventually.
Friends - jimin and V.. That song play in the eternals movie
Es una de mis canciones favoritas, de aqui escogi a Yoongi como mi bias wrecker
finally reaction!!!!🎉🎉 i have been waiting for a long time 😅😅
Are you guys gonna continue the album reviews? I think it'd be great because BTS have very distinct themes in each album and listening to the songs from start to finish gives a whole other experience than just listening to them individually. So if you do get the chance and can fit them in, id love to watch your reactions to the full albums. And watching albums in chronological order also shows you how much they have grown and their music has grown with them
BROOO THIS SONG HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART
You should react to shadow live version in DDay tour....it was just a blast ...yoongi is the best perfomer❤❤❤❤
Last part of the song when the shadow takes over is my fave part. This is song is 👌
THANK YOU FOR THE REACTION 😘😘😘
Suga is a musical genius, I want a T-Shirt with his lyrics! 💜
YES, SUMMER!! you got it. @12:00. Map of the Soul was all about them accepting all part of themselves, from their personas to their shadows!
I LOVE this song, I’m happy you guys reacted to this !
this song is so special thank you for your reaction. I love the whole map of the soul concept its really cool
2:37 *_hAJimA_* 😆
I love the part when the shadow takes over, it's so powerful.
Wow Summer looks amazing 🤩
He is a genius 😭😭💜💜
Persona, Shadow, Ego , are amazing songs
