Been going through these old ones again to look for a new OD. Dan's "Oh yeah!" exclamation at around 14 min. reminded me of what I have always loved about this series. These two guys love pedals. And it shows. Awesome!
I must tell you something. I've been with you week to week for over a year now. Watching your videos has had the most impact on my sound and style until now, period. You're not only brilliant hosts but more important - amazing, inspiring players I admire. Thank you!
+Harry Blackhole Wow, thank you Harry. Something about the way that opened was ominous, but it finished just fine. :0) Thanks for watching - we’re totally stoked that you find it useful and inspiring!

I have an OCD (which actually is fairly reasonably priced) and an EHX Glove. I prefer the EHX Glove. The OCD has a TON of low end and, with humbuckers, I can't back it off enough to keep things from getting mushy. The Glove has a tighter sound for higher gain with humbuckers, IMO. My OCD is v2 for what it's worth. The Glove is a really good pedal!
Or the joyo ultimate drive (OCD). Btw I saw a thread where some guy asked for pedals to make his marshall sound more like a rockerverb and someone proposed the OCD. I actually tried this both with an ampsim (where I tested a rockerverb vs a OCD into a marshall) and my ultimate drive into a marshall at home. And it actually do make it a bit more "orange-y" sounding. That's pretty cool. I think it is due to the drive on the pedal sounding a bit fuzzy and the thing the HP-switch does to the low mids.
Ashamed to say this is the first video I've watched where I've actually clicked on and read the 'show more' tab. I'm always so enthralled with your presentation that I never bothered. Thanks for being so thorough and thoughtful as to provide your viewers with further valuable information and tips! You guys are the best!

One of my favorite sounds is combining the OCD with the Wampler Plexi Drive Deluxe's "Tube Screamer" switch. The OCD is one of my favorites because it combines so well with other gain pedals.
I liked the OCD the most I think, across all the amps. The TS in certain applications is unbelievably good. It's easy to see why SRV loved them so much.
You guys must really hate my bank account!!! This episode was like one big Sheriff44 advertisement to my ears!!!!Everytime you switched to the Sheriff I was like "whaaaaa????" !!!! Im on a "small" tube head hunt (Victory Duchess, sheriff, Panama Shaman,Egnater Tweaker to name a few). This last hour was a HUGE kick towards the Sheriff!!!!!!! What a sweet sounding episode all together!
+Webgkil It really is good. It's 'real' which is what I like about it (Mick). I am a bit biased as I was involved in its development, but yeah, it's a superb amp. The cab is a big deal too - that vertical 2x12 sounds really, really good!
I saw Robben at a close up gig in Brooklyn last year... I was travelling from Australia. He was using this very loud clean Germino head. I was able to get a close up look at his pedal board and there was the zen drive.... he sounded fantastic the whole gig... I was impressed at how that pedal managed to get him that dumble tone. Sounded amazing

What a fantastic demonstration of the alchemy of different OD pedals (and combinations thereof), different amps (and combinations thereof), different speakers, different guitars, different pickups and different players! This is on my short list of favorite and most edifying TPS videos. By all means keep them coming.
I keep forgetting to add a like after I watch these! lol. Only show I genuinely look forward to a new episode and I watch every single one. Best show on RUclips by far. Keep it up guys. I may even buy a T-shirt soon. Seems only fair after all the knowledge you've shared with us. :-)
Jeez, you guys aren't kidding about the "put your headphones on" encouragement. Just watched your video through some brand new and rather nice IEMs and my goodness. Totally changed how I hear the show.
OCD is just so Killer. Finally 2 Guys who actually Know How to use the OCD. Every Y.T. Video has the Treble Cranked ( making it sound thin & brittle ). I have tried numerous high-end Overdrives and the OCD will Never Leave my board. Also you guys are 100% Correct in saying ( what amp are you using ? ). It is odd how - people Never mention that. You guys are my New Favorites. Really Love your Professionally done & Informative Videos. I can talk about Pedals & Effects All Day. - Michael Caz - NYC
i know this is 4 years late... but I love that you used 3 amps that have their own character and and strat vs les paul to really understand these pedals.I favor fender guitars and amps. These videos show me sonically how a humbucker guitar and marshall type amp react differently. Thanks guys!
The Riot in the Sheriff completely nailed that elusive Jerry Cantrell tone... sounded biblical! Zen drive was a revelation... I knew it was good but my God it sounded so so big.
When I see any video that’s 45, 50, 60 minutes long, I usually pass them up because I don’t want to commit that much time. But I have to say that you guys do a thorough deep-dive like no one else. When this is the type of thing I’m looking for, especially “I wonder what this sounds like compared to that” you two nail it.
Pretty much EVERY time you hit one of your fave od pedals with a touch of delay and maybe some reverb and light vibe, like the Vibronaut and you stop, look at each other, pretty much dead pan , almost confused looks on your faces and then Dan says..... THAT IS AWESOME!! Mick usually agrees. And I am right there with you yelling (in my head) YES...that DOES sound AWESOME!! WHY??? How does that sound SO good? I think that I like just about everything that you two like. One suggestion please, LOUDER vocals. Put a Cali76 on them or something. When I watch on TV late at night (when my beautiful bride is asleep in the other room) I turn the TV up so I can hear you two talk (just a little tough to understand with the accents, which by no means are at all thick or heavy at all....seriously) and then a cranked Les Paul through the Analogman blasts through the house as I dive for the remote. Otherwise, the show is spot on guys. So informative and entertaining. I moved back to my one horse home town from Los Angeles years ago and I have really NO ONE here to talk about gear with. That Pedal Show helps immensely in that regard. I have learned SO much from binging on your clips. I have the buffer clip on hold in the living room as we I type this. (at 1:20am) BTW, that is the best sounding Les Paul I think I've ever heard. And I'm a Fender guy. Waiting for another Carpe Diem sale. Just saw that today - SOLD OUT Keep up the great work gents. Cheers
+N2F1 Cheers N2. So pleased that we're hitting a chord with you, so to speak. We need to do some work on the vocals. It's a frequency thing, perhaps, because on our meters everything tops out at around -3db, vocals and guitars. Also, because of the room sound maybe there are some reflections that aren't helping with audibility. The best experience is in decent headphones. We've watched on TV sometimes and the guitars sound pretty rubbish through most TVs. Try some headphones if you can. Meantime, we'll see if we can improve the speaking treatment.
Awesome show! I'd love to see an episode similar to this but with fuzz pedals. Fuzzface, hoof, big muff, and anything else you guys have. It'd be cool to see how they clean up into different amps and all the different sounds you can get. Keep it up!
If you do get around to a fuzz show, also make sure you bring in some modulation effects. Octave, vibe, etc. fuzz pedals are very picky on what order or pedals you pair them with, so it would be cool to see what you guys do with them!

Look forward to every week. Super informative for us who don't have the means for these side by side comparisons. Much, much appreciated. By the by, I ordered the Carpe Diem from Riff City because of you blokes.
I love the RYRA Klone! Your Klon clone video inspired me to pick one up, and it has since become my foundation tone. It seems to make my drive pedals sound better, and when combined with a compressor, it's absolutely magic! Thanks so much, guys!
That sound of Les Paul into Tube Screamer into Marshall! After watching this video I simply had to buy a TS and now I know what I had been missing all the time...
i've been living the whole experience of your point about every overdrive pedal reacting completely different to different amps and set-ups...been using the TC Electronic Nova System for the past couple of years as my main drive and effects unit- impressive piece of gear, but after many hours of trying to dial in solid, smooth overdrive and distortion tones with this unit, i have concluded that nothing will make it sound good with my particular amp, so i'm having to consider other options...the drives on this unit are just brutally aggressive and harsh when they interact with my Fender Concert, and nothing i do addresses it...it's not about the Nova System- it just doesn't play well with my amp...thanx for all the vids you guys create- well done, entertaining, and you really help people figure out their gear, and how to get the most of them, while showing clear differences between different pedals and how they interact with different amps and set-ups...well done...
Thanks Steve. Grab yourself an OCD, a decent 808 Tube Screamer and a Klon style OD. Nothing that that combination can’t do. Er, except a fuzz. In which case add a Sun Face to the list. Not all at once, but everyone needs goals, right. A D&M Drive could cover a lot of ground from the first three, but we don’t want to sound biased!
Great informative shows all year long. Today´s episode accomplish its goal in showcasing the interaction of the modern OD into 3 different amps. It also help us mortals hear the pedals sounds in context. IMO it also showed that an Amplifiers´s own distortion + OD pedals can easily sound richer than a Clean Amp+Highgain pedal. Keep up the love for tone.
Have you guys ever thought about doing a video on smaller versions of the respective amps you regularly use? Like Princetons, AC15's or Marshall 18 Watts? I know loads of boutique companies doing variations of those circuits like divided by 13, 65Amps or Morgan. OD's into those could be cool.
Im hilaroius bout Dan`s intro dynamic playing and upgrading from Joyo Taichi (very good sounding!!)to handstiched finnish Zenclone! ( which I believe very near matches the ori. one!) , ZENDRIVE: one pedal that doesnt come off my chain of command! I salute you Mighty ZEN
4 pedals lol. Yes I’m 2 years late but just saw this. And nobody told me that when I got married my #gas would be an issue. I thought I had too many at 7. Sold some but then got pedal addiction kicked in really bad. I must be up to maybe 70-80? And broke. Now selling them. Interesting thing is on reverb nobody wants to pay a decent amount. It’s a good time to be starting off being a gear addict. FYI the way to stop gear addiction is by going broke from buying gear.
Mick, it was funny when you mentioned Dave Kilminster, because when I heard the Zen with the Sheriff, I immediately thought of the Interview you guys had with him while he was touring with Steven Wilson. Killer tone!
The more I hear that OCD, the more I realize I'm going to have to get one. Also, this was a real insight to me on what a Klon-type overdrive will do. Thanks again for the great video.
Awesome as always guys. I have a couple of suggestions (for purely selfless reasons of course). A general amp in a box episode (you've done a couple of amp specific ones like Dumble and Plexi but I thought some of the more unusual ones like the Supro Drive, Catalinbread RAH/Formula 5F6 or some AMT pedals like the V1 might be interesting and fun). Suggestion two is, how valve amps that have diode clipping circuitry (such as the Marshall 2525H or the Blackstar HT series) play with pedals and how it affects the advice given in your other videos. Just a couple of ideas off the top of my head.
P90's / Single Coils / Humbuckers......every guitarist should have one of each to nail practically every tone. I'm also a firm believer everyone needs at least one Hollowbody guitar too.
I have both but man it’s a hard gig switching, whichever one you have been practicing in you begin to develop that style and when you switch back it sounds terrible. Guess that’s why all the masters have just one guitar they adore and use almost exclusively
that's a good point, I was thinking more on a song specific basis...and that's why you see many of the greats swap guitars during sets. I think that's why Strats and guitars with coil taps come in handy. Keeping the same familiarity with some variable tones.
Dan great statement about pedal buyers not plugging into JCM800’s it’s a fact most pedal buyers will never plug into a 100 watt ever. Great video I wished I’d watched this a few years ago
The OCD sounded the best through the Sheriff 44(Marshall). That's what I'm currently running and love it. Very silky smooth gain and sustain with out the fizz.
There wasn't one of the pedal & amp combos that sparked inspiration....they ALL did! :-) Apples and Oranges is the common phrase...but I much prefer Chalk and Cheese. I'm stealing that lick. Thank you very much! Love your show. Appreciate your time, energy and enthusiasm!
I am in awe of the Strymon pedals. All top quality, very expensive, very complex, and sound great. I haven't heard one that I wouldn't want to own based on tone, but none that I would own -- based on complexity.
northof50now I'd definitely encourage you to go and try a few. Especially the "small box" ones like the El Capistan or Flint. They're a lot more intuitive than you'd expect.
Lorneplumber as far as I know, there are a few minor differences from small box to big box, but there's enough overlap you can get the same sounds out of both. I prefer the bigguns myself. But I've got an el cap too
They're great, but I have a couple guitars that I got for about the same as a Strymon pedal. Makes it kind of hard to justify getting a Timeline. Dem tones tho...
Dan, Mick, thanks very much for this video. I'm on a second amp journey (for a wet/dry setup). I have a Rivera Sedona Lite 55W split grill for my first tube amp (I play acoustic and and electric and it's amazing for both). It's more of a "traditional Fender" compared to other major amps but it has it's own thing. After hearing several of your videos demoing different amps; both separately and in combinations with others, I'm leaning towards a Vox AC15 (not sure what speakers yet!) and prior to you guys I would not have given that amp a second thought so many, many thanks for what you do. Educating the masses with both your playing and your discussion isn't always easy but I certainly appreciate it (witty banter included contrary to the gentleman Houle's comment below?). The OCD and Riot, for me, sounded like the most versatile of the bunch for both humbuckers and single coils, so again many thanks for that. I also like the new Bogner Burnley distortion pedal as well so I have a decision to make at some point on what to include along with my Strymon Sunset for gain purposes. Thanks again.
I was thinking the Rat as well. It's definitely a classic. There is also a pedal I own that I think more people should be talking about, the ReezaFRATzitz by Emma Electronics. It's a fine distortion pedal and easily ranks up there with the Riot and the like, but you never see it on anyone's pedalboard.
A big thank to you guys , you make a great job , i wanna buy the victory sheriff and i was a bit worried because some people said that don't work very well with pedals in front of it and there are no other video on web that tried to do that with that amp , i'm sure now of my choise. Also the audio quality is fantastic , congratulation for your success and and for your work that helps a lot the guitarist comunity.
Love the show guys, thanks to you I've learnt more about gear and tone in the last year than in the previous 15.

A fan of the show here. For a dynamic bluesy overdrive with humbukers or a Strat, what would you say: Mini Tube Screamer, Tumunus, SL Drive for plexi sounds?
8 лет назад
I would use it with a Bogner Atma ('Fender' type clean channel). And other times with a Mesa Express 5 50 Plus.
Francisco Tomás Hey man, i play a strat and a les paul and my two overdrives are a ts808 tubescreamer and a J Rockett archer ( similar to the tumnus), I find the tube screamer to compress the guitar dynamics quite a lot (which I love) so for a dynamic overdrive you may want to sway towards the "klon" type pedals such as the tumnus as it really reacts to your picking and colours the guitars tone a lot less :)
8 лет назад
Thanks man! Have you tried any of the Bogner pedals? Cheers.
Get a Fulltone OCD. You will be happy. Did you see Both Guitar Players Reaction ? ( when they used it ). I Love mine and know many others who feel the same. Its a Beast. - Michael Caz - NYC
Your show is always awesome, but I must say, the OD demonstrations are where you really do best. You don't seem to use the Vox very often, but whenever you do it makes me want to get one. You both seem to make that Vox sound great! I know this is a pedal show, but maybe you could do an OD show featuring only the amp OD? Interesting!?
Do either of you own or have you played any hiwatt amps? I recently bought a reeves custom 12 and love it! It's such a unique sound, like if a twin reverb and a super lead had a child
+That Pedal Show I'm a huge David Gilmour (Davy G) and Pete Townsend fan so I had to have it. I do want their custom 100 someday. The 12 was a great value. Got it used for $500 and it's all hand wired ptp with NOS tubes. Huge sounding thing
I'm surprised as such a die-hard pedal guy its taken you so long to play one. You really need to have a major amp shoot-out of some of the best pedal platform amps using some of the favourite choice pedals, so us pedal players can get a feel for some of the better pedal platform options out there. You could maybe talk about what amps you've gone through, what made you end up with the Lazy J, then Hamstead, and now maybe Hiwatt. This would be useful as not all of us get to play so many great amps as you guys do. Love the show!
About 25 years ago I swapped a couple of old telephones (!!) for an all original early 70's 100 watt hiwatt head in gorgeous condition. At the time I was just a 'bedroom player' and with it balanced on a little 1 by 12 cab it looked ridiculous and was total overkill for my needs. So I traded it in at music ground Doncaster as a straight swap for a new laney LC15R... At the time I was well happy... obviously a little less so now.. (the one that got away)
Hey Guys, Just watched the video of you at Copenhagen, and I found the bit about effects loops very interesting (especially this trick of putting a compressor in there for use at low volumes) so I was wondering whether at some point you'd consider doing a more in-depth video about effects loops and various tips and tricks for using them. Thanks and keep up the great work, you're by far my favourite RUclips channel! Cheers, Tom
Great show gents!! Chalk and Cheese, man I haven't heard that since I was a kid growing up in NL lol. One expression that's used a lot in North America is to say something is night and day when they are polar opposites or radically different. Another is that you/re comparing apples to oranges. Keep up the great work!!
Great show, always a pleasure watching you guys! And after years this intro makes me reconsider my plans never to buy and play a les paul ever again ;-)
The guitar stores owe YOU guys a debt of gratitude! :-) I bought an OCD because of you guys. Dang, that thing pushes some air. That is one in-your-face pedal.
If you run the OCD at 18V, you indeed get more headroom. But there's more! The overdrive sounds deeper, more throaty, less fizz and more dynamics. If you can run it at 18V, do it! ;)
absolutely agree...it has more brilliance & clarity...I run an optical compressor after it into a Keeley BD2 set for clean boost and that tone is simply MASSIVE!!
Well now you've done it. I thought there was no way you guys could ever convince me to spend more than I did on my old space echo, but you had to go ahead and prove me wrong. You had that vox sounding so good that I went and ordered an AC15 heritage handwired. I hope you're happy. Lol
+That Pedal Show yeah I know, I liked the ef86 channel and the look of the thing (it's the "tv" style) thanks for putting out this awesome content every week! Look forward to every Friday!
+That Pedal Show I really just needed a vox sound. I've got blackface, tweed, and hiwatt style amps, now I've got the vox, so now I jus need a Marshall and a fumble style amp ;)
Hi Dan and Mick, I've followed you guys since this show started on Dan's channel. I plan on buying a shirt when I next get paid, not just because they're cool as hell, but mainly because I want to give back, even in some small way, since you've helped me and taught me so much. On a side note, would either of you ever consider doing an AMA on Reddit? We're all obsessed with your show over on r/guitarpedals and I think an AMA would be absolutely fantastic! Long may the show continue!
+That Pedal Show It stands for Ask Me Anything. It's usually a question & answer type thing, but a forum version. The sub reddit would lose their minds if you did one!
Is it just me or did the tube screamer sound fantastic into the Sheriff 44? Sound like Vox had a duvet over it in another room... The OCD sounds superb!
I revisited this video to say that I still love my OCD pedal, and according to today's Reverb listings it's apparently worth 4 times what I paid for it since Fulltone announced they're closing. 😆
ace show as always. the OCD always impresses. Ive gone through many pedals trying to kick mine off the board in the end the OCD always seems to make it back on. it was my first "real" gain pedal and still the one I find it easiest to get a good sound out of.
Can you do a demo of the klon type pedal stacked with a Timmy , at higher gain settings and lower tone settings, And ab that combo with the zendrive or dumble type pedals ?
Been going through these old ones again to look for a new OD. Dan's "Oh yeah!" exclamation at around 14 min. reminded me of what I have always loved about this series. These two guys love pedals. And it shows. Awesome!

I don't think a guitar show can get much better than this. well organized, funny and entertaining. I'm a fan for sure.
+Paolo Peretti Thank you Paolo - much appreciated! This 'well organised' thing though... what is that? ;0)
Also doesn't hurt that these guys apparently can play every style of music, and do it it unbelievable amounts of taste.
How you guys can make an hour long about just 5 pedals so damn entertaining is astounding. Love you guys

Beautiful playing on the intro, Dan!

I got the OCD last night, my life changed!
Renato Sáenz I have one beef with the OCD. And its minor. The knobs are too easy to turn. Its an easy fix. And again a very minor beef......but it's the only "problem" the pedal has.
@@simonfreer9076 Rubber o-rings underneath the knobs can solve that problem.

Killer episode guys. I've got this bug for one pickup guitars ever since I started watching your stuff!
(at 1:20am)
BTW, that is the best sounding Les Paul I think I've ever heard. And I'm a Fender guy.
Waiting for another Carpe Diem sale. Just saw that today - SOLD OUT
Keep up the great work gents.

+Bruce Johnson That's great to hear Bruce, thanks for watching. And congrats on the Carpe Diem!
The ryra killed it, so dynamic with such a sweet top end, lovely
I love the RYRA Klone! Your Klon clone video inspired me to pick one up, and it has since become my foundation tone. It seems to make my drive pedals sound better, and when combined with a compressor, it's absolutely magic! Thanks so much, guys!
That Sheriff 44 is doing something very very right!!
Just got the fulltone queenbee fuzz its fn awesome
Hot cake
That sound of Les Paul into Tube Screamer into Marshall! After watching this video I simply had to buy a TS and now I know what I had been missing all the time...
+Michal Belda Hooray!
i've been living the whole experience of your point about every overdrive pedal reacting completely different to different amps and set-ups...been using the TC Electronic Nova System for the past couple of years as my main drive and effects unit- impressive piece of gear, but after many hours of trying to dial in solid, smooth overdrive and distortion tones with this unit, i have concluded that nothing will make it sound good with my particular amp, so i'm having to consider other options...the drives on this unit are just brutally aggressive and harsh when they interact with my Fender Concert, and nothing i do addresses it...it's not about the Nova System- it just doesn't play well with my amp...thanx for all the vids you guys create- well done, entertaining, and you really help people figure out their gear, and how to get the most of them, while showing clear differences between different pedals and how they interact with different amps and set-ups...well done...
This just made me really want a sheriff 44! Sounded killer by itself and with the first 3 pedals
it feels so good hearing so much praise for the pedal which is cemented permanently on my pedal board,i adore ocd
Probably the most useful TPS episode ever! Thanx!
That's one of the most useful videos I've ever saw on overdrive pedals. Excelent.
The OCD through the ac30 was my favorite. Awsome
Yes indeed! I’m playing an OCD into my AC15 for that very Reason! 😍😎👍
I salute you Mighty ZEN
love this show, but my wife doesnt want me watching becaude ever since i discovered this show my pedal board has gone from 4 pedals to about 13.
+Ryan Hill Please send our regards to your wife Ryan. Sounds like she needs some more shoes... (they're a great placator when you buy pedals). Cheers!
@Ryan Hill I totally hear you!!
sorry u will have to dump your wife...But we have chosen this path
4 pedals lol. Yes I’m 2 years late but just saw this. And nobody told me that when I got married my #gas would be an issue. I thought I had too many at 7. Sold some but then got pedal addiction kicked in really bad. I
must be up to maybe 70-80? And broke. Now selling them. Interesting thing is on reverb nobody wants to pay a decent amount. It’s a good time to be starting off being a gear addict. FYI the way to stop gear addiction is by going broke from buying gear.
yeah it is a serious GAS to be cautious with along with guitars, amps, and synths- right?
Round 2: Rat, Hot Cake, Morning Glory, Timmy, Em Drive
Matt Snyder Round 3: Plimsoul, Eternity, SD-1, Mudhoney and Carpe Diem.
Matt Snyder the morning glory is absolutely beautiful.
Matt Snyder have the Hot Cake. Cool tone
Happy Friday afternoon. An hour of That Pedal Show is going to make this day pass by a lot easier.
Praising the format of this video - one LP and one Strat. Because you know you'll end up owning both.
@@antonr.2101 I have one of each, along with a Fender, Marshall and Vox amp! Gotta have some variety.
@@joshmuz9018 , right, unless you happen to be Joe B.
Dan great statement about pedal buyers not plugging into JCM800’s it’s a fact most pedal buyers will never plug into a 100 watt ever. Great video I wished I’d watched this a few years ago
OCD + Sheriff 44 = absolute monsterous!
The OCD sounded the best through the Sheriff 44(Marshall). That's what I'm currently running and love it. Very silky smooth gain and sustain with out the fizz.
Les Paul + Marshall Guy:
12:26 Victory + TS
19:40 Victory + OCD
42:45 Victory + RIOT
🔥✋
There wasn't one of the pedal & amp combos that sparked inspiration....they ALL did! :-)
Apples and Oranges is the common phrase...but I much prefer Chalk and Cheese. I'm stealing that lick. Thank you very much!
Love your show. Appreciate your time, energy and enthusiasm!
Can you guys do a video on Moog pedals? I think it might be an interesting video!
I'd like to see an Analogman ARDX20 with Deluxe Memory Man and Moog M-104 (correct model?) analog delay shootout
I think it's about time I went out and bought a Victory. The Sheriff and the Mini TS sounded so good!
I lurrrve my OCD. I run it into a Bassbreaker accompanied by a Superchamp set to Twin Reverb running clean. But it works running into either or both.
CNCTEMATIC wait.. is the phone not ringing? Damn you tinitus , you're a cruel mistress!
As usual, an Excellent demonstration. Very helpful & thought provoking !
Yes small box is the way to go. I actually prefer the sound of them too which is weird as I assume the are the same essentially
Dem tones tho...
thats the thing. I have a time line and it is worth every penny. Great pedal
Great show; you should do more of these! Some suggeations;
Proco Rat (hardly ever see you use them) & Timmy
I was thinking the Rat as well. It's definitely a classic. There is also a pedal I own that I think more people should be talking about, the ReezaFRATzitz by Emma Electronics. It's a fine distortion pedal and easily ranks up there with the Riot and the like, but you never see it on anyone's pedalboard.
Love the way you showed these pedals through different amps and guitars. Perfect demo!
This is probably the best channel for demoing stuff before you decide to buy it.
"Chalk and Cheese" in the States is "Apples and Oranges", or "Night and Day". I'll be saying Chalk and Cheese from now on...lol. ;)
Me too, I’ve never thought that apples and oranges were all that different
Love the show guys, thanks to you I've learnt more about gear and tone in the last year than in the previous 15.
A fan of the show here. For a dynamic bluesy overdrive with humbukers or a Strat, what would you say: Mini Tube Screamer, Tumunus, SL Drive for plexi sounds?
I would use it with a Bogner Atma ('Fender' type clean channel). And other times with a Mesa Express 5 50 Plus.
Francisco Tomás Hey man, i play a strat and a les paul and my two overdrives are a ts808 tubescreamer and a J Rockett archer ( similar to the tumnus), I find the tube screamer to compress the guitar dynamics quite a lot (which I love) so for a dynamic overdrive you may want to sway towards the "klon" type pedals such as the tumnus as it really reacts to your picking and colours the guitars tone a lot less :)
Thanks man! Have you tried any of the Bogner pedals?
Cheers.
Francisco Tomás no man I haven't, although I saw a review of them recently and they sound killer!
+MrBingping I just spent a couple of hours with an old 50 watt HiWatt. It will be my next amp. I was blown away, what a sound
+That Pedal Show I'm a huge David Gilmour (Davy G) and Pete Townsend fan so I had to have it. I do want their custom 100 someday. The 12 was a great value. Got it used for $500 and it's all hand wired ptp with NOS tubes. Huge sounding thing
That Pedal Show - love the shows guys. Always wanted to ask how you ever come across the Trace Elliot Speed Twin H50 and if so what are your thoughts?
Some of those combinations are just magical. Tube screamer and fender, the riot and the victory. Those were my favorites.
Coffee? Check... Friday? Check... That Pedal Show? F*cking CHECK!
check
Coffeemate
Chrismayo1981 The check is in the mail!
Wearing a nice Check
Great start to the weekend! I now feel justified having all of these OD 'flavours' on my board and as an integral part of my band's sound! :D
LesPaul + Sheriff 44 with the OCD and/or tube screamer
Agree. I've heard that Tube Screamer into OCD works really well. I would liked to have heard that, especially into the 44.
Hey Guys,
Just watched the video of you at Copenhagen, and I found the bit about effects loops very interesting (especially this trick of putting a compressor in there for use at low volumes) so I was wondering whether at some point you'd consider doing a more in-depth video about effects loops and various tips and tricks for using them.
Thanks and keep up the great work, you're by far my favourite RUclips channel!
Cheers,
Tom
Tube Screamer into the Sheriff 44 = WINNING!!!
Great show gents!! Chalk and Cheese, man I haven't heard that since I was a kid growing up in NL lol. One expression that's used a lot in North America is to say something is night and day when they are polar opposites or radically different. Another is that you/re comparing apples to oranges. Keep up the great work!!
What?! No ?!
+unicornmatt x10000. We'll have a few of those for sure!
The Tim/Timmy has to be in the discussion.
I love these two guys. I can't stop watching their videos.
45:45 when Mick picked up a Strat, I was like - oh, finally
Great show, always a pleasure watching you guys! And after years this intro makes me reconsider my plans never to buy and play a les paul ever again ;-)
Arrived for the pedal knowledge, stayed to steal some licks
I never seen Fulltone Fuldrive in your videos
Greetings from rainy cloudy Poland! Its good to hear some great tone's in Friday before gigin :)
+Jon Ope We included one a few months back in something or other... We should acquire another. :0)
+Jon Ope We included one a few months back in something or other... We should acquire another. :0)
Dumble ref's, SRV's Texas Flood album done entirely on Jackson Brown's studio amp "Mother Dumble." Was only supposed to be a demo to shop around.
You two guys are the greatest salesmen for pedals that I've ever seen. I want to buy every pedal you guys demo.
Ah, if only we worked in a guitar store. ;0)
The guitar stores owe YOU guys a debt of gratitude! :-) I bought an OCD because of you guys. Dang, that thing pushes some air. That is one in-your-face pedal.
PLZ give Vox settings pleeaaassseeee. I got AC + TS mini and I never sounded like this! ☹️
That Sheriff 44 is unbelievable! What a tone! Rich, organic, massive!
Lol
+MrBingping Hope you like it! It wont sound exactly like this AC30, but it'll surely sound very lovely!
+MrBingping *dumble
+That Pedal Show I just got the AC15H1TV and it's absolutely incredible. Wish I got one years ago, thanks for waking me up to vox amps!
+Philip Mallett hi Philip, thanks so much. Forgive my (Dan) ignorance , what's an AMA?
+That Pedal Show It stands for Ask Me Anything. It's usually a question & answer type thing, but a forum version. The sub reddit would lose their minds if you did one!
dudes i really enjoy your show! truelly a pleasure to watch you guys! i m gonna buy a shirt to support you... keep it going!
+DIY Vince Thanks so much Vince - glad you enjoy the show!
Is it just me or did the tube screamer sound fantastic into the Sheriff 44? Sound like Vox had a duvet over it in another room... The OCD sounds superb!
Big Takeaway / Learning: That Sheriff 44 - takes Pedals Really, Really Well. Sounds Epic.
Hooray! Please post that on the Victory forums. Not sure what they’re all banging on about. :0)
I'm always so shocked that Dan does NOT fall off his stool when he hits a really good bit!
Can you do a demo of the klon type pedal stacked with a Timmy , at higher gain settings and lower tone settings, And ab that combo with the zendrive or dumble type pedals ?
56:32 minutes of escape from the real world!
great show as ever guys, look forward to this every Friday.
