    A common problem with some EL-5 is battery draining on its own while in storage. My battery level went from nearly 100% to totally dead overnight. Flash was off but battery drained. Some users got it fixed by Canon replacing the battery box. Will there be a recall to fix this issue? It's very annoying to lose battery power for no reason. Only workaround is to remove battery when not in use. Canon, please do something about this.

    So with the new hot shoe, does this mean the EL-5 can’t be used with EOS R5 camera?

      And for further insult, I have an R5C, which DOES have the new multifunction shoe, however none of the multifunction accessories actually work in stills-mode. So neither this flash nor the ST-E10 whatever new transmitter, work with the R5C

    does it work on other canon dslrs or mirorless ? even with less functions ?

      No. This flash works zero DSLRs and only the most recent mirrorless cameras. R3, R7, R10 and R6 II. Those cameras can use the older flashes though.

      No as the EL 5 does not take external sources of power.

    Very puzzling, at the end she mentions when using it on the R6II, R5 or R3. I would have thought a mistake like that would be corrected.

    Does the EL-5 (or EL-1) work in Auto Focus Bracketing mode on newer R cameras (R3, R7, R8, R10, R6ii, R50)? I want to use this function with flash for macro. Is anyone with the appropriate R Camera/Flash combination able to check for me? Thanks in advance!

      Correct. Buy an additional 5 batteries so you don’t run out of power. But be careful of overheating issues.

      @@johnkelliher4292 buy an older one 580EX II. It’s less money, it uses AA batteries and it works just as well as it’s super expensive big brother model. I use it with all the latest class and RF cameras.

    Canon have realised that customers have a hand full of LP E6 batteries, therefore we do not need to take lots of different batteries and chargers !

    • @Alec831
      @Alec831 Год назад

      The new Canon flashes (EL-1 and EL-5) use the LP-EL battery. The cameras (like the R6 and R5) use the LP-E6. These are different batteries, but you can charge them with the same charger (Canon LC-E6).

    • @DeputyNordburg
      @DeputyNordburg Год назад

      Including the battery with no charger seems bizarre to me. It would make more sense if the flash had a USB C port and could charge from a USB cord like the newer cameras can. Or just charge from the camera while the camera charges from USB C. But it can't...
