Growing up in the same city as Sepultura I was 7-8 years old at the time of this TV show. By then I had a couple of albums from Iron Maiden (my dad got them for me because I liked the drawings with Eddie), and that had put me on a journey to discover all sorts of more traditional metal bands... But as a kid and with no internet, my interest and exposure was super limited! And that's the context in which I remember listening some songs from Beneath the Remains and realizing Sepultura was a local band! The brutal rhythm, perfect guitar tones and squealling pinch harmonics felt to me like someone took my limited references (Maiden, Priest) and cranked it up 200%. I wouldn't discover Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, etc for a few years still and when I finally did, they all felt derivative. I never loved Sepultura's vocals (my references were Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford) but early Sepultura's guitar work and music made an impression on me that lasts to this day: they have the best guitar tones for Metal, ever. If you pay close attention you'll hear Max Cavalera and Andreas Kisser doing dives like Dimebag Darrel, low drop D pinch harmonics like Zakk Wylde and unusual harmonies/compositional choices like Chuck Schuldiner and some of those things likely before or in paralell (in my perspective) to some of those more famous artists in North America.
Great comment, i can tell you are a guitarist. Its cool that you mentioned that Max wasnt your favorite singer and also mentioned Chuck, who also had a growling type of singing. Chuck's guitar work in Death is so ahead of his time, so amazing, it has influenced countless bands and players.

Sepultura's first EP, Bestial Remains, was shared with Overdose and recorded by a local record, Cogumelo, which was also a music store in Belo Horizonte where the headbangers used to hang out. That crowd today are fathers and mothers, just like me... good times. I watched that day: Sepultura played live on the show Matéria Prima, hosted by Serginho Groisman, in 1991, on the now-defunct TVE. I think Serginho regretted inviting Sepultura because the crowd got really hyped. The host kept asking them to stay where they were, or he would stop the show. Even João Gordo from Ratos de Porão was there on this memorable day for the history of Brazilian metal.

The FINALLY got to see the mighty Akira Takasaki and Loudness in like 2013 after 30 years nd my head has in direct line with his half stack. Perma Weeeeeeeing from that day forward. Why sht was so fked up i met the band and had them sign my Akira sif from the 80's( the owner of that guitar company couldn't even believe i had a special edition from like 88) but i couldn't even speak properly. Eternal ..ringing in my ears since. Really bad. Can't sleep with fans or a lot of white noize at all times. Fully worth it if i hadn't died from cancer or tragic sht yet like all my friends from that era. There's always an upside. Torturing the neighbors.....Stone Deaf Forever \m/\m/
The energy captured in that moment in that era………. Relentless! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 OMG I’m such a proud GenXer!
Never gets old!! I was 13, still banging to this album. Absolut classic👍🏻👍🏻
Holy shit, this is an absolute gem! Ferocious and tight...brings me back to when I first discovered them in a metal magazine right around this time, then went to the record store to buy Beneath the Remains. One of the best metal albums of the 90's, and it absolutely holds up to this day. Igor is owning the drums...got dang...
Frickin' Amazing! That change up at 2:30 is so sick
So amazingly coreect!!! So glad they had extra sucess for two more records.
Im 51 and Max is the reason i play guitar. First time i heard inner self, i wanted to play guitar like that.
The Real Sepultura !
The Legit SEPULTURA!!!
To this old metal head this is timeless
Ese es el Clásico Sepultura!!! Espectacular.
Greetings from Malaysia..my favourite band
Sonzera do caralho...
Saludos🇦🇷
Metal united 🇫🇷
@@vtt-chartres Así es, unidos 💪

Igor sentado numa cadeira de boteco. Kkkk épico demais! 🤘🏻
Fantastique ! Puissance dynamisme et groove. Le sepultura de cette époque est incroyable

Almost 59 and still banging my head to this
Eso si es Sepultura ! 🔥🔥
Qué bonito!!!...Me resulta tannn relajante!!!
Feels like returning to the rebel teenager 90s, classic sepultura was always a good part of the self recorded mixtapes back then. They were always a great inspiration for us
Aquellos viejos tiempos que nunca volverán. Gracias Sepultura grupo amado en Colombia
Good ol Sepultura!!
this video is a treasure
Awesome performance, this is what gained them max respect 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Fuck yeah!!!!! The love from the crowd brings the most metal grin to my face🤘🤘🤘

Tempo Bom esse.👍
As Bandas tocavam Metal ao Vivo nos Programas.
Thanks from. 🇫🇷
WT actual F, was Igor sitting on a regular metal folding chair at his kit? That's so next level badassery right there!!!!🤘🤘
Wow.... eu estava lá.!
So sick!!! Igor is a beast! \m/
Melhor fase do Sepultura e o melhor vocal do Max.
Agree with you
Great Footage 🤘 Sepultura Forever !!!
14 évesen kezdtem hallgatni de most is 48 évesen is hallgatom .......
Old is gold, baby!
What a cool show, crazy that it was just on regular TV ! 😄. They never would have played that on regular television in Canada back then 😢. I saw Sepultura in 1994 in Vancouver B.C. Canada 🇨🇦 at the PNE Forum. The line up was Prong opening ( such a killer band if you’ve never heard of them) , Sepultura-Chaos A.D. tour , and Pantera- Far Beyond Driven tour headlining! That was one hell of a show definitely one of the best ( I’m 52 ) I’ve ever seen in over 40 years ! all 3 bands absolutely killed it that night !
RIP 🕊️Dime and 🕊️Vinnie forever stronger than all ! 🤘🏻
A trilha sonora da minha adolescência.
Una de mis canciones favoritas de sepultura
