This guy takes such pride in making his guitars, knows every aspect of the production process, uses pre-felled wood, and smiles the whole time. Makes me proud to own Godin products.
he also owns most of the wood prior to felling that is his edge on the market he grows his own trees as far as I know he is the only guitar builder almost 100% self sufficient the quality he offers at the price point i own two seaguls and a session and love all three
We all love Robert here in Québec....and dont forget that besides being probably able to run the place on his own he does all the selling himself and you can buy a Godin product made right here just about anywhere on the planet, everybody in the music business knows him. Merci Robert.
They unequivocally do not make the best guitars on earth. Gibson MADE one of the best guitars ever built, with the original Les pauls that everyone loves, but that was a long, long time ago. New Gibsons are fine, but no better than most other production guitars - unless maybe you get a custom shop one for $5k plus. If a new Gibson was the best guitar you've played, you need to play more guitars. Any guitar that costs over $3,000 better be amazing, and there is NOTHING special that Gibson has or does that other companies can't do equally well or better.
I have played many Godins, Seagulls, Simon and Patrick and I have never picked one up that I hated. What a master class in producing beautiful playable instruments.
You can tell Robert Godin is passionate about his work, he's doing it primarily to make guitars, whereas so many other are doing it primarily to make money.
I"m thoroughly impressed by Rober Godin's grasp of the processes. He's completely on top of exactly every process and it's like second nature. I would imagine he could run this plant single handedly if it weren't so immense. Right down to the micron. Great video. Now if PG could only afford to give him a microphone of his own... lol.
I have never seen so much attention to detail on a mass produced guitar. Mr. Godin is obviously passionate about his company and it shows! Great job, my next acoustic is going to be a Godin for sure!!! Also, thanks to Premier Guitar for allowing us the opportunity to watch such craftsmanship in action!
I recently purchased my first Godin guitar, a Multiac Encore Nylon model. First guitar I've ever bought new that didn't need to be immediately taken to my tech for a set-up. Intonation, string action, fret finish, etc are all simply perfect. Robert's pride in his instruments must be absorbed by all his employees. My thanks to Godin Guitars.
Oh my now I know why I love Seagull Guitars... the VERY best. I currently have 4 and ADORE them all. MR. Godin is so adorable and so excited, his enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you Godin guitar makers. You ROCK!!!
I have an old 96' Art & Lutherie that's served me well for 22 years now and watching this makes me want to keep it "in the family" when I buy my next. I've always loved having a guitar that didn't look like every other guitar on stage and the tone (especially after 22 years) is unmatched at it's price point. Thank you so much for this factory tour!
You just have to love Mr. Godin's passion and truly remarkable knowledge of the guitar making process. This shows in the quality of his guitars. I own several and they are all top notch!
What an impressive tour! So interesting and comprehensive. I love and appreciate my Seagull S6 even more now! So refreshing to see the pride and workmanship that goes into theses guitars--and the integrity and passion of Mr. Godin. Wow.
Robert’s passion and knowledge is great! You can tell how proud he is of his guitars. I have seen many guitar factory videos but no explains the details like this man. Awesome.
This was awesome! I’m the proud owner of an S6! Can’t believe all the precision work that went into making it! Very cool to see a CEO who actually knows his product...
I was on the fence about what guitar to upgrade to. I've been doing tons of research for weeks but after watching this and reading the never-ending positive comments, im going with the Seagull S6.
You should be very happy with that choice. Being it's been a year, I hope that you went with the S6, it's a great guitar with an excellent voice and price point, and I hope you are as happy with it as I am with Godin's products. If you haven't already too you should definitely get the TRIC case from Godin. It is by far the best acoustic case on the market in my opinion.
I had a Seagull student model. Cedar top. $225. That thing wanted to SING! Seeing this video, I now understand how it was made and why it blew away everything else in the price range at GC.
I played a Seagull 12 string today for the first time ever and it was a real treat... loved the playability, loved the tone, it is solid craftsmanship, and Mr. Godin seems very passionate about what he builds so I say kudos!
After watching this I ordered an S6....This guy knows guitars ! Update....got my S6 and it's beautiful. Hard to believe they can produce this quality at the price.
Seagull is a very high quality acoustic guitar at a reasonable price - I trust their quality and workmanship more than any other acoustic manufacturer. The reason I bought one in the first place was because I immediately noticed they sound better than mid range Martins and Gibsons and as good as the high end Martins and Gibsons.
The Artist series is as good as any Martin/Gibson. I tested this fact personally. The mid-level Martins/Taylors aren't as good as the lower end Seagulls.
I tried an S6 classic today and at my first strum, my guts started to tremble and i never had this kind of emotion before. By the way, I'm a Fendrer Telecaster player. I'm going back soon to buy it
Bravo!
I have a Godin Slim-neck classical multiac which I've had for 5+ years now. The guitar is used for shows constantly & is my favorite. I also have Strats, Teles, & Les Pauls, but nothing touches my Godin!
Robert is a true gentleman, explaining the whole process. I can tell you that as an owner of a Seagull Performer guitar, it's a wonderful instrument. After watching this, I will buy another one and I can't believe they can sell it retail for such a good price. Worth every penny.
Mr. Godin is living guitars. I really appreciate this passion for the art of guitar building he is in charge. Look into these eyes and you see real passion. Thanks for sharing this.
I just wish Premier Guitar would have invested on TWO wireless microphone systems - one of them on the interviewer and one on Mr. Godin. would have been SO MUCH easier to HEAR what both of them are saying!!!
Robert Godin's passion for making guitars is really evident. I met and spoke with him at the unveiling of their Multi Oud and some other new models of guitars. He's always interested in making quality instruments. It's obviously his passion.
I played dozens of new acoustics at various price points and the Simon and Patrick Songsmith came out the winner. Fantastic sound quality, extremely well built and amazingly affordable. The icing on the cake was that it was made right here in Canada. It warms my heart to see the passion that Robert still has for building musical instruments after several decades in business. Godin consistently manages to make impressive guitars in Canada at half the price of the competiton.
Have had my MJ M6 CW since 2006 now I know why it's such a nice guitar! I always thought it felt quality but I had no idea! Now after seeing this I am very proud and happy to be a Seagull Guitar owner! Such love and knowledge of the wood and processes involved was impressive! Thanks for sharing. Many refuse tours. Nice to see one that doesn't mind showing the way it's done!
I bought an all solid mahogany (top, back and sides) Seagull earlier this year. I did an A/B comparison against everything I could get my hands on. It came down to a Breedlove and the Seagull. Seagull clearly won. Excellent guitars.
Ya Breedlove makes great guitars too. I tried $2k Martins and Taylors and Gibsons and a $700 scratch & dent Breedlove was as good or better than all of them!
It is always interesting to see the passion and attention to detail it takes to make great products. Artistic and operational talent and skills are very evident. Thank you! I have 2 Godins and I enjoy the very much. Thank you.
I purchased a Seagull S6 as a camping guitar. After bringing it home I find myself playing it more than my more expensive guitars. Quality guitar at a very affordable price. I love my Seagull.
This is fascinating! My Godin A6 Ultimate is due to arrive tomorrow morning. I'm so excited I just keep watching demos and then found this video. Wow, so much machinery and craftsmanship involved. A proud Canadian company.
My Legacy Denim Blue Q-Discrete is on the way and am so impressed and excited to see how much Mr. Godin knows about his craft, as well as the pride he puts into his creations! He is a true man to model
This is not your usual grind them out guitar factory, instead of sitting in the office hes out on the floor hands on and you can see how extensive the thought and design are that have went in to every aspect in production and quality control, very impressive and these have to be quality instruments. Again, very impressive to see the top man out on the floor and proud of his processes and his product.
When you see this kind of passion in the owner you understand how they make such a good product. Since I saw the first Godin i knew something was different. kudos!
That was sensational. All of you already mentioned what a great person Robert Godin is and what passion he has about his guitars. I love that they only use local woods. This is the only way of delivering a guitar of such quality at such a ridiculous price point. My next guitar will be a Seagull for sure!
After watching this I will be purchasing one of these well crafted guitars. Have to admire the passion that they put into each individual guitar they make. Well done!!
I was about to buy a Taylor 320 a few years ago, but came across this video. When a Seagull Maritime mahogany top became available new for half the price I jumped on it. Quality is at least equivalent and the sound, at least to me, is much more balanced. The neck feels great and the mahogany used for the soundbox is just beautiful. Well done, Segull/Godin.
It's wonderful to see the marrying of machines for precision and speed with careful measurement and adjustment to ensure that the finished guitar is still perfect. Hands down the most impressive implementation of a fundamentally machine-based production line I've seen for guitar making. Great video, thanks.
I bought a Seagull S6 Trans Red GT recently love this guitar the sound tone build quality all excellent & I really enjoyed this video to watch the quality workmanship & you can see Mr Godin enthusiasm for his product & rightly so I will be buying another Godin product Great Canadian product keep up the great work !!!!
Wow, Mr. Godin knows exactly and intimately every spec of his guitars' construction as well as the machinery. Any question he is asked, he knows the answer..... 100th of an inch, 4000 per week, 5% above 600, 60 psi, etc. Amazing.
Fantastic value for the money these guitars ,,, they will match any guitar on the planet for quality and probably beat any price for this kind of quality
I'm watching this video in May 2023. A couple of days ago I bought my third Godin guitar, a 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II Natural. (I also own a Godin Mutiac ACS-SA Slim and an Art&Lutherie Blue Cedar CW.) Seeing how masterfully the guitars are built in the factory and Robert Godin's passion about his products makes me appreciate these fine instruments even more. Bravo et merci à tous chez Godin Guitars! 💜💚
This is one of the most outstanding walk through factory tours I've ever seen. Robert the owner knows exactly what he wants anc how to achieve such thing's. I was expecting an standard average tour. Very surprised. Thanks for the great video. I'm a proud owner of a custom Seagull guitar not many of them around.
Love my Seagull S6 and S12. Cool to see how they’re made, and the passionate craft and technology behind them. My next guitar will be a Godin A6 Ultra!
S6 has a cedar top. It used to be available with a spruce top upgrade. The spruce top S6 is now known as the Entourage. Spruce is a tad more expensive and ages better than Cedar to give a better sounding guitar in 20 years if played regularly. Cedar sounds better off the shelf.
I have LOVED Seagull Guitars since I bought one used in 1994. I have an Artisan Studio CW Element right now that I put side by side with my 1974 Gibson Hummingbird. The Seagull is absolutely the best sounding Acoustic I have right now and I can't remember having one that sounded or played any better. THANK YOU for making such a great product ! Too bad they really haven't caught on in the U.S.A.
I do not remember when I bought my Godin multiac nylon and it still works and sounds like NEW !!! never thought it will last for so long...amazing instrument
wonderful to see the pride for perfection .....and what must have been a long hard road to attain that perfection culminate into the perfect finished Guitar....they have every right to be proud ....
discovered godin at music 6000 in olympia ( or a town nearby ), wa back in '01 and they instantly became one of favorite manufacturers, both acoustic and electric ( haven't played their basses, but im sure they're sweet ). fine, fine creations, and it's lovely to see so many women involved with the building process. sweet.
Wow .. very nice ... I like how much precision and quality (as well as research/study) has been put into the the process and manufacture. Makes me feel good about owning one of these and to know what to look for in a guitar. I will continue to be a customer and it's time to buy my second one. Mr. Godin sure knows his stuff ... thanks for sharing.
This guy takes such pride in making his guitars, knows every aspect of the production process, uses pre-felled wood, and smiles the whole time. Makes me proud to own Godin products.
he also owns most of the wood prior to felling that is his edge on the market he grows his own trees as far as I know he is the only guitar builder almost 100% self sufficient the quality he offers at the price point i own two seaguls and a session and love all three
No doubt he's worked every one of those stations. He knows the details in a way not from a company memo. We need a ton more leaders like him.
We all love Robert here in Québec....and dont forget that besides being probably able to run the place on his own he does all the selling himself and you can buy a Godin product made right here just about anywhere on the planet, everybody in the music business knows him. Merci Robert.
I wonder how much the CEO of Gibson knows about guitar making... Mr Godin is a guitarist and craftsman! Way to go. Thanks.
The CEO of Gibson is nuts -- there are all kinds of crazy stories from ex-employees, and they've started putting circuitboards in their LPs!
I have played many Godins, Seagulls, Simon and Patrick and I have never picked one up that I hated. What a master class in producing beautiful playable instruments.
You should look into it and maybe you'll see why gibson is number 1
Thank god they got rid of him,,,now Gibson is back on track...I hope.
I can see the pride in monsieur Godin's eyes. Looking forward to buying one.
You can tell Robert Godin is passionate about his work, he's doing it primarily to make guitars, whereas so many other are doing it primarily to make money.
well said

and hire a camera man with a SteadyCam for christ sake.
I have never seen so much attention to detail on a mass produced guitar. Mr. Godin is obviously passionate about his company and it shows! Allen Janes Larry Spiteri I just got one for christmas, its awesome :D

it's so obvious how much this guy loves what he does. this video was one of the biggest reasons I went with a Godin most recently.
Oh my now I know why I love Seagull Guitars... the VERY best. I currently have 4 and ADORE them all. MR. Godin is so adorable and so excited, his enthusiasm is contagious. Thank you Godin guitar makers. You ROCK!!!

I just bought a used A&L Spruce Burgundy 2009 from a auction site out west , can't wait to get it :)
I own two Seagull guitars. Thank you, Canada, for making such wonderful instruments.
Your welcome eh!?🍻🇨🇦🍻😉☺😁
You just have to love Mr. Godin's passion and truly remarkable knowledge of the guitar making process. This shows in the quality of his guitars. I own several and they are all top notch!

Rich Ratchford good choice. I have one and it’s comparable or better to any Gibson I have played

9 years later and ill end up with an S6, entourage, or coastline because of this video. The passion is just contagious!
I love to watch mr Godin explain each process, I've watched this like 10 times
Incredible.... ton of respect for their manufacturing practices.... great company.
It’s easy to see that Mr. Godin is passionate about the instruments he manufactures and how he has been an innovator in the industry. Great video.
Just ordered a seagull s6 original and seeing how they're made with so much attention and passion jsut puts a smile on my face
That's a very impressive factory. Mr. Godin's experience, pride and expertise are evident in every facet of the manufacturing process.
After watching this I ordered an S6....This guy knows guitars !
Update....got my S6 and it's beautiful. Hard to believe they can produce this quality at the price.

Impressed! Best Factory Tour. I’ll buy a Godin Guitar. Proud to be Canadian.
Just watch his eyes! He's excited about what they are producing. Great to see. I own two Godins. Someday I hope to try an acoustic.
Love the passion that Robert Godin shows. I'm looking forward to buying my 1st Seagull guitar by Godin.
Brilliant. Nothing less. Loved watching the precision, the passion and the skill to bring it all together. Now to find one to play.:)
This guy is so enthusiastic and passionate about his guitars and rightfully so. These are great guitars!
Very nice. These guitars are awesome; the tour was super cool !
It's a beautiful process, the precision and all that pure top notch quality.
Gotta Love his Passion and Enthusiasm, great tour and interview!
Fascinating. Mr Godin really seems to have thought of everything. I enjoyed the tour very much.
My Legacy Denim Blue Q-Discrete is on the way and am so impressed and excited to see how much Mr. Godin knows about his craft, as well as the pride he puts into his creations! He is a true man to model

Very nice video tour! I have one of their Seagull guitars and I love it.
I have a Godin Performer Mini Jumbo that I just absolutely love to play. It not only is beautiful to look at but a dream to play!
When you see this kind of passion in the owner you understand how they make such a good product. Since I saw the first Godin i knew something was different. kudos!
My Norman B20-12 was made here too in 70'. Thank you , Sir, for your great job.
That was sensational. All of you already mentioned what a great person Robert Godin is and what passion he has about his guitars. I love that they only use local woods. This is the only way of delivering a guitar of such quality at such a ridiculous price point. My next guitar will be a Seagull for sure!

what an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly guy.
This video pushed me over the edge for that Simon&Patrick, dammit!
The Nagus himself has come to see first the legendary manufacturing processes of this company. That's all the evidence I need to place my order!
An amazing factory and tour. You can see the pride they take in building these guitars. Ordering my Seagull next week.
thank u a lot robert for your passion and your great music instruments!! cheers from Greece!!
Love my Seagull, been together for near 20 years. Great to see the passion, practicality and attention to detail. Made in Canada!
these are truly special guitars....just play one....ears don't lie....beautiful guitars!!
The care they put into their guitars, as shown in this video becomes apparent when you play one of them! Big fan of Godin.
Fantastic value for the money these guitars ,,, they will match any guitar on the planet for quality and probably beat any price for this kind of quality
Absolutely agree
Allen Janes ssd
I totally agree with you 100 percent i have a godin Montreal i love it
R-E-S-P-E-C-T Mr. GODIN Period!
I LOVE my Godin guitar. It plays so well and is beautiful.
I'm watching this video in May 2023. A couple of days ago I bought my third Godin guitar, a 5th Avenue CW Kingpin II Natural. Thank you Robert for taking the time. Great tour. Wonderful engineering.
Thanks Premier Guitar, terrific interview. Merci, M. Godin! genial. J'adore mon Kamouraska Concert.
Love my Seagull S6 and S12. Cool to see how they’re made, and the passionate craft and technology behind them. My next guitar will be a Godin A6 Ultra!
This is a very impressive video. Now I know why I love the Seagull guitars so much!
And this makes me a proud owner of Seagull S6.
Me too!!
It's cool to see the people that built the guitars we're playing.
Is there a difference between the S6 and the Entourage?
the entourage is an s6 model
S6 has a cedar top. It used to be available with a spruce top upgrade. The spruce top S6 is now known as the Entourage. Spruce is a tad more expensive and ages better than Cedar to give a better sounding guitar in 20 years if played regularly. Cedar sounds better off the shelf.
Excellent video, loved watching it.
This guy is awesome. He clearly knows everything about the guitars he's producing. Makes me wanna trust his product :)
Mr.Godin enjoy's his work and also employ's a good many people! Can't beat that!
This guy is very confident and happy about his guitars! Looks like they take their time and do a really good job.
This guy is a genius, he is a brilliant manufacturer, and a natural engineer.
Mad respect for the Canadians! I love the multiac nylons.
I think impressive is an understatement. What an amazing company. The quality, pride and craftsmanship reflects the owner.
Wish I found this video years ago! I love my Norman guitar -- now I'll go watch the Godin video.
discovered godin at music 6000 in olympia ( or a town nearby ), wa back in '01 and they instantly became one of favorite manufacturers, both acoustic and electric ( haven't played their basses, but im sure they're sweet ). fine, fine creations, and it's lovely to see so many women involved with the building process. sweet.
Wow .. very nice ...
Wow this has been refined into an amazing fine art
