I think it’s common sense i don’t need to explain,
1- eren still didn’t start the rumbling and ik he knows what happens but he still thought there might be another idea and to confirm if it’s true or not he had to witness sasha’s death.
2- he doesn’t know how someone without powers like the rumbling and also the titan power can actually kill that amount.
