- Stunning Thomas The Tank & Chuggington toy trains that will reveal some amazing Thomas & Friends toy facts and history. First up is the highly collectible ERTL 7 inch Die Cast Thomas The Tank that's showing lots of Thomas love. I compare the ERTL Thomas to the Mattel 70th Anniversary Thomas. Next is a classic Take Along Thomas The Tank carry case. These are very common and are set in the same style as the early Take Along Thomas. Then there is an amazing mystery Thomas The Tank and Troublesome Truck that have a 2004 date stamp. If only all small Thomas toys carries such amazing attention to detail. Next is a small TOMY pull back Thomas with moving eyes. This Thomas is in great condition. The next item is a bag of classic Thomas Take Along toys and Take Along track. I set up a Thomas toy story so you can appreciate how well these Thomas toys play out. The early Learning Curve Take Along toys are so different to the Mattel Take N Play and MINIS Thomas of today. Then we switch tracks and open a grab bag of Chuggington Die Cast and Chuggington Interactive train toys. This sets up a leokimvideo trip back in time as I reflect on the early Chuggington train toys. I show quite an impressive collection of Brewster and set up a simple all Brester powered train. The later Chuggington toys are made by TOMY and they made huge design changes to the Chuggington Die Cast toys by making them nearly all plastic. This new style is known as Chuggington Stack Track. The last Thomas toys are two Percy's. One is a large classic TOMY push N play that I so often see, the other is something very special. Wrapped up in newspaper is a 60th Anniversary Porcelain Percy piggy bank. This is a Coalport character and it's pretty impressive. Looking on e-bay I see this Thomas collectable is not easy to find. It's one of the nicest items that been found in my local charity shop.

That Percy moneybox at the end tugged at my nostalgia strings. I remember visiting a gift shop in Cromer many a time as a kid and seeing Thomas & Friends moneyboxes, ornaments and bookends. We never bought any but it was fascinating seeing these Thomas models that you couldn't get in your regular high street store. This was back during the Britt Allcroft era though; I didn't realise they were still producing similar things in 2005.
HOLY SHIT
THAT ERTL THOMAS SAID KAYE AND WARD?
THEY WERE THE PUBLISHERS OF THE RAILWAY SERIES, THAT EXPLAINS THE UNIQUE FACE IT'S GOT
17:20
Those three track pieces came from the take along Deluxe play scene sets, each set included a DVD, a piece of track, accessories, and an engine with a special expression. There were 7 sets, Thomas, Percy, James, Gordon, Henry, Diesel, and Emily. Most of these sets are hard to find nowadays but I was able to collect all the expression engines that came with the sets, all I need is Emily.
I remember 1984. Big brother was going to be watching. lol! Love that diecast Ertl. I think the Ertl would be worth more. I just don't think there are many out there and you can still by the 70th Anniversary one cheap even less than $23. I agree - go for the Ertl. Love the moving eyes on that one Thomas. Nice Take Along find too! Love that Henry! That bridge track reminds me of something from Percy taking a chocolate plunge
The track are from the dealex play scean it come With a take along engine and a DVDs
Train Tsar Fun
Train Tsar Fun true
Train Tsar Fun "2 + 2 = 5"
The frosty brewster is from a UK chugginton DVD.
I love Thomas!!!!!!!!!!!
The Take Along DVD Track Pieces were from Take Along DVD Packs.
Each Pack had an engine with a special face, a Track Piece which had actions, a few accessories and a DVD with the episode the crash was relating to.
Me too.
the sets were: Thomas & The Special Letter, Percy Takes The Plunge,
Gordon Takes A Tumble, James & The Trouble With Trees, Henry & The Elephant,
Emily's Adventure and Thomas To The Rescue.
Though I never collected take n play as a kid I did have those little sets with the DVDs but my mom sold them I also had a take n play playset and Blue Mountain Mystery Paxton but the only things left of all of those is the big piece from Percy in the saw mill what did I say windmill
Wait she has Thomas and Percy and Dale track pieces and Henry but there's also a golden piece but no golden
I'm using my stupid phone with microphone and they don't understand stuff
I did have the James and the Trouble with Trees pack, I still have the track piece with the tree, but I lost the James with the “closed eyes” face.
The giant ertl Thomas in a nutshell . When Thomas' face falls of in shed 17
The "bridge to dead end" track piece was part of a story set that came with a promotional DVD
specifically percy takes the plunge
the bumpy one was thomas and the special letter
the other destination to nowhere was gordon takes a tumble
16:10 I think that pice was for the take along she'd so you could recreate gordens crash in the ditch
That 2004 ERTL style thomas is from the Kingsfisher 'Round the rails' game. I have one from when I was younger and I know that there should be another truck there. Hope this helped anyway. :-)
I love the 70 anniversary thomas
I think the DVD Take-Alongs came in a box pack with an exclusive-faced Thomas, Percy, Gordon, Henry, Emily, Diesel(?),or James; a DVD with the episode the box pack is meant to be set around, and the track pieces there, with accessories, to play out the different scenes.
Also, kind of backtracking here, but I love that not-ERTL Thomas featured earlier, and I want to know what range it's from. I wish i had something like that in my collection..!
Also, chipped and scuffed, I'd still pay over $50 for that Percy there. Plus postage.
That's a really good find.
I like that time when you do that in camera story😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is my dad when he has the most weirdest ideas for Thomas stories...
I felt like Leokimvideo made George (Out of character) in this... :P
I remember I had a bunch of those large ERTL's and some Take-Along's in mint but I think I sold them at a car boot sale. Shame, really.
Cool keep like that
Like it
Lol
I hope this take n play story should be a real episode
i used to have the big ertle thomas model...I lost it as a kid. I miss having it. I wanted to modify it to be a working train model.
I love you
the DVD take along came in a set with a special engine with a expression on the face , a DVD and a price of track related to the episode on the DVD
At 16:30 Those pieces of track are from a series of "Accident Recreations" (I don't know the real name for this specific line). The first piece of track is from a DVD pack set that came with a surprised face Percy, a DVD of "Percy Takes A Plunge" with Ringo Starr's narration, broken gates, and a sign that says "Danger Engines Must Not Pass this Board". The Dead End is actually supposed to be a pond, but it looks like the sticker peeled off.
The second piece of track is from the Thomas DVD set that came with "Thomas and the Special Letter"(George Carlin narration), a surprised face Thomas, and broken brick wall.
And the third one is the Gordon DVD set that came with "Gordon Takes a Tumble" (with Alec Baldwin's narration), surprised face Gordon, I believe 2 barrels, and whatever else (I didn't have this set growing up)
There was also a James set that came with "James and the Trouble with Trees" (Alec Baldwin narration), A Diesel set, an Emily set (I think) and a Henry set (I also think). I don't know the episodes to those.
These sorts of toys sound collectable. I'm now thinking I need a Thomas DVD track set mint in box.
leokimvideo They're quite rare nowadays, so I would say so. I had mine with the boxes before they went missing, but they're still complete.
3:57 Close, but no cigar.
Awesome video! A Thomas toy is a happy toy when it has had the Thomas love. I can't wait for your next video :)
I love the The ertl diecast Thomas
You Have A Big Thomas Collection
I love this
I loved the story
Very nostalgic
George: Why Thomas milk all over Henry?
You can tell from the bag full of Take Along that the kid loved the color green.
9:45 I have one of those Thomas' and a James one as well.
I only have the Thomas
I have the james
5:26 I need that Thomas. I've been waiting for AGES to get together an actual 1/48 scale Thomas model, one way or another.
Always nice to see a Tidmouth milk tanker on these, I think I ought to do some collecting of my own and have a tank wagon collection!
Very nice percy-bank as well, can't recall ever seeing them before. I do have a Thomas-bank but it's not an official one, it was made for my friend by his mom and when he grew up he passed it on to me. I am planning to include it in a video at some point BUT I've got several things to do prior so it could be a little while off yet.
7:40 if ertl made modern Thomas
Surprisingly you've got the names right the first time around with the two chuggington interactive toys. From what I've seen at my local Toys R Us where I've worked at last year, they still have a few chuggington trains left on the store shelves but not anywhere else.
Great toys, possibly the inability to connect to popular Thomas toys was an epic fail.
I think both Large ERTL and 70th Anniversary Thomas have equal chance of becoming a highly collectible and desired toy in future. It all comes down to the individual looking to purchase the models and how the term 'classic' resonates with them and the Thomas franchise. What I would class as a classic character would possibly be very different to how another may see as a classic. Same applied to these 2 when comparing. Personally I think the 70th Anniversary Thomas would appeal more as it was apart of something very special, the detail and features it has but to someone who grew up during the ERTL years or desires simplicity and vintage, it might venture toward the ERTL Thomas. Mind you, I grew up during the time ERTL was on the shelf but I would personally go for the 70th Anniversary Thomas, because of the aesthetics of the model. Comes down to preference. WOW Leo, your Thomas collection is becoming massive, great to see another video of your collection. :D
I really need to get the whole collection out and on show. Yes it's massive now and sort of scary in the total numbers. I'm thinking of displaying them at a train show, but it's the logistics of setting up a display away from home that worries me. The spooky part to showing them is the Thomas faces all looking at you..it's quite haunting.
16:36 those pieces of track came with a DVD and special engines. so DVD percy came with a percy with closed eyelids. and DVD Gordon had him in a surprised face. etc
I do have a pull back Thomas and i lost it i did love it so mucj
I have the same thomas case as that I had it for 3 or 7 years I still have it!
I always remember you talking about stock standard engines and how plentiful they are. I do have a theory as to why. When I was very little I used Yoplait tops to buy a wooden Thomas. I vividly remember not wanting to play with it because it had, in my words "Angry Eyes". My mom had to scrape off the eye brows and draw on new one, and then I never stopped playing with it. I think the stock standard faces are just easier for kids to enjoy and love. Maybe angry or scared faces put the kids off? Or maybe its just me. In any case, love your videos, keep up the good work!
Beast fan made story ever
wow! Dat ttte story doe!
So funny
I don’t think anyone told you this (I think someone did because I didn’t want to read 312 comments and it has been 5 years) but those dvds tracks where little sets that came with an exclusive dvd with a themed episode and a exclusive engine ,the dvd percy was percy takes a plunge, came with a suprise face percy . The dvd Thomas was the Thomas gets bumped , came with a surprised Thomas.the dvd Gordon was the Gordon takes a tumble, scared face Gordon. Now they where 3 more sets , the Thomas to the rescue , that came with, you guessed it, surprised diesel with a bit o green in his sides. The James and the trouble with trees, scared face James . And the Emily in Trouble ( I think that’s the name ) with a angry face Emily. I think they’re not rare, it’s common to find the separated pieces (where I leave) but what is not common was the full set, specially with the box
+leokimvideo I love all your videos
Hello loco I'm a huge fan of trains
The tracks the have DVD (name of character), are ones that have a recreation of a episode, but they were only released in my country, and had the American dub that had the late George Carlin, and he also voiced Filmore in Disney Pixar’s Cars 1, but not in 2 or 3 because he died two years after the first one came out.
The DVD marked pieces of track were called "Deluxe Play Scenes." There isn't much info, but here's the link to the list of them on the Take-Along Wikia. takealong.wikia.com/wiki/Deluxe_Play_Scenes
The log half was included with a couple different repaints of the same Take-Along lumbermill. Anecdotally, I marked the inside of the wood halves with positive and negative symbols in relation to their magnets.
I finally found one of the oversized ERTL Thomas' a few months back, it cost me a whopping one dollar at a yard sale. I actually paid twice that for a Percy about two years ago. Always nice pieces to see.
OMG please make more of these uncut story thingys!! it was so much fun to watch!!
The problem is I am leaving myself wide open for a DMCA from HiT. I see their Network here on RUclips is nabbing loads of producers and uploads.
+leokimvideo Wooow, well that's very disappointing. nevertheless, I appreciate that you did it in this video, SOO MUCH FUN TO WATCH :D
socialblade.com/youtube/network/hitentertainment-thomasandfriend
I see lots of people connected to that MCN. I'm doing my best not to get sucked in and sucked dry
l like your app
Hi Leo. I've been watching your mad bomber videos and I was wondering if I could make episode 2 myself. If not reply to this comment and I'll be fine with it
Thanks, I don't often reply
+leokimvideo it's k mate I'll try and upload it be November or early 2017
you're a genius
Piece Of Jake
William Ou oh I know old darling. It'll consist of a different plot to what the original was but will still have all the bombings
I managed to get a white running board variant of that big ertl for only $5.00 at a market, pretty smashed up but I’m happy👌
the take along dvd sets had a reference to some particular episodes, the Percy one referred to Percy's promise episode, the Thomas one referred to Thomas and the special letter episode and finally, the Gordon one (which I currently have) referred to Gordon takes a tumble episode. hope that helps.
You would be a great MLP youtuber
Classic large ertl Thomas is my answer
I can imagine Leo having a movie... I think it would be called "train story" or something like that. relative to the one he made a while back (great video btw really reminded me of when I was young) it would be a story about a train first coming out of the factory then see the life of a train in the packaging and like hearing rumors about how toys and other trains are mistreated by some kids. I dunno... hah just an idea.. keep up the good work Leo!
The thomas tomy pullback toy can fit on blue tomy track
The DVD rails came in a set with a surprised Thomas and one with surprised Percy. The DVD was basically just 1 or more episodes were the rail pieces where based on. The dead end one used to have a sticker with a puddle, and used to have a fence which percy could break through and the thomas one had a wall there. I had both of the sets but the tiny pieces such as the walls, or the fence, I lost.
That Take Along bag takes me back to my own childhood collection- still have all of it! I can say first-hand that trains which don't have that love on it aren't necessarily neglected- in fact, one of my favourites (the breakdown train) is almost pristine, and that's because I was a lot more careful with it!
BTW, have you ever come across a take along thomas launcher? It looks like those tote boxes you keep on getting, but has a giant button on the cab that shoots a take along Thomas through the front buffer.
Cool
I have the launcher
That plastic Thomas that came with the plastic Truck was a Ravensburger Thomas from a game called Thomas Round The Rails. There was Thomas, two Trucks and a circle of track.
great story. ☺
over here in NZ those 70-year-lego-fitting Anniversary Thomas is 100$! 100!!!
i also think the "dvds" are certainly pieces that relate to "BEST OF PERCY" dvd and "BEST OF THOMAS" percys is percy takes the plunge and thomas... well a thomas expert can figure that accident out for me heh. best of gordon has to be tenders and turntables or gordon takes a dip and like i said all from the best of DVDs
Alexander the Banker there were actually more DVDs things in that collection and they wouldn't come with the best of DVDs they would simply come with a short DVD that had a take along commercial, the episode the crash was from, I believe it would have a commercial for Thomas DVDs and that's it. The different sets were Thomas and the special letter, Percy Takes the plunge, Gordon Takes a Tumble, James and the trouble with trees, Emily's Adventure, and Thomas Saves the Day specifically the version or Thomas brings oil to the Diesels when they find out that the fuel was bad and the Diesels stopped working and that set specifically included diesel
I'm going one of those Thomas
Reminds me of shed 17 when Thomas's face comes off
I mean plunge, those tracks were from from dvd packs
August 6th 2020 Ah Memories
The DVD sets are sets
based on some episodes! :D
When are you going to do Thomas minis wave 3?
I have wave 4 now, not sure how to present it because my bag numbers are totally different to the rest of the world.
wax
Leo, hold on to that porcelain model really closely. They're very rare. And yes, there was indeed a Thomas model, along with James and Sir Topham Hatt, from what I own, anyway. I'm not sure if there were any more, but I'd imagine not, just four. They're great ornaments, they look amazing, and though having a full collection of them will probably take a lot of time or money, it's worth it. So I suggest you keep a hold of Percy there and see if you can find the other three. Good luck!
Well Percy is only worth $23 (USD) and even then thats not sold, I'm surprised he's not worth more!
At $23 thats only a tad more expensive than todays modern Thomas toys.
+leokimvideo and so much better quality as well... I mean really, compared to Tomy and even the HIT toy company, Mattel really need to up their game. Revolution is overpriced and lazy, Take 'N' play have gone down the drain, the wooden railway has more plastic than ever... Heck, I've resorted to ordering expensive stuff from Japan over Mattel items. The only thing I'd ever use them for is screwing around with magnets and motors.
the dvd take alongs are packaged with take along trains with a dvd of the old seasons. the holes are to hold the train down in package with the twist ties are strings things. hope this helps
Awesome video LeoKimVideo! You honestly amaze me with the amount of goodies you find related to Thomas and Friends!
Now Trackmasters push a longs are here
7:13 that in fact is an ertl, ertl stopped producing them in 2004
No. It’s from a board game.
i had one of those case things when i was little
That Take-a-Long track is from a set. It came with the pond bridge piece of track [level crossing gates would go in the holes] ,a surprise face Percy, a danger sign and a dvd with the episode Percy Takes The Plunge on it. There was a similar set that came with James and a James And The Trouble With Trees dvd.
I got the Gordon and Henry with no tender I got a lights and sounds Gordon with tender I got a normal Take Along Henry with tender
I saw the pullback Thomas at a doctor's office
chuggington is dead now. they stopped the series and pulled the toys off the shelves.
TheFlyingTankEngine 64 yeah
FINALY!!!
they didn't stop the show they just aren't producing as quick
emma scrivens nope they’ve stopped
Good riddance
I know all three of the tracks it percy takes a plunge bye gerolde and Gordon takes a tumble
It's not by gerolde it's bye George
and bye george was never made in that style.that bumpy track that doesn't come to an end is thomas and the special letter
Them two pieces of weird take a play track is from like 2006 and they would come with a piece of track a special engine with with a special expression like Thomas comes to breakfast
Those Dvd Thomas,Percy, and Gordon are exclusive sets from DVDs sets
That mystery Thomas and truck are amazing, look like semi-modernised ERTLs. Interesting that the new plastic Brewster actually has more painted detail, opposite of what mattel has done... Lovely moneybank, not the kinda of thing you want to give a really young child though...
It was Learning Curve who made the earlier Chuggers, then TOMY had the job of trying to lift the toys. Obviously Mattel can't make Chuggers because their hands are tied in the ownership of Thomas And Friends. If only TOMY and Lego could get back the licences to make Thomas toys, I think then we would see some really amazing things start to happen.
those take along special track prices were from a DVD train combo pack, and it was Percy takes the plunge, Gordon takes a tumble, and a Thomas one. they had signs and a sticker, but it looks like they are missing.
DVD Percy means that was from the DVD Percy takes a plunge
The what is part of Thomas and Friends that came with the timber Mill Take Along set
ich habe den thomas mit dem güterwaggen auch.
The Thomas that looks like Ertl it is a game piece
In case this hadn’t been documented here, the DVD Percy piece had a sticker decal of a pond and cane with a DVD of the episode Percy takes the plunge.
The other DVD pieces were most likely the same. My guesses are DVD Thomas was Bye George which would explain the piece and George and may represent Thomas’s crash in the episode. DVD Gordon is most likely The episode where he falls into the ditch. Those are just my guesses
The thomas one was Thomas and the special letter
Okay found out it comes from Gordon take the tumble take-along set
I v got take along set now
Awesome job leo! i love these videos so much! i just love seeing people find older items! :)
The older Thomas items reveal the times when the franchise was very different to today. Back when toys were really popular and not up against free apps on Mums iPad or iPhone
i totally agree toys are better than those for kids
Dear Leo Kim video 16:3 I already made the discovery what you have there is called Thomas and Friends Take Along Deluxe play scene where are you get a free DVD friends and a free piece of track
And this had a lot of different characters with the toy too
That Ertl like Thomas and truck is from a brand called De Agostini that was a Thomas magazine in the U.K. Each issue came with a engine, truck, coach, or destination.
I have the DVD thomas set
It's called DVD Thomas and DVD Percy because sampler tapes or DVDs came with the sets of Take Along Thomas and Friends back in the day
The Thomas and the troublesome truck is from japan
Maybe there's some other engines to
When will you take a look at Grossery Gang?
16:10 That's a percy's plunge track I think
And I think there rare to find
I still have from my childhood the Ertl Percy large scale diecast ones with the pullback motor in fact I have two of them because my brother also had one
the real question is how much will these toys be worth in 100 years, they could all be in museums and be worth thousands
