Seeing this video made me tear up. I lived here when I was a little boy. This place is my second heart❤. I will always have a special place in my heart for walterboro. I loved riding my bike throughout the town visiting my elementary school friends. I loved the rice festival every year and my family was the best. We did everything I mean everything from celebrating thanksgiving eating big thanksgiving meals to Christmas and opening gifts as a family every year. This is the town i came into the world seeing so it’s my home and idc I live in nyc now for almost 20 yrs and it’s just amazing the energy in this town. I will always love walterboro and nyc. I still dream about walterboro and my siblings that have passed on that I grew up with here. Thanks for this video because I’ve always wanted to see walterboro in this era of time and it looks exactly the same as it did in 1992. ❤my heart
SC doesn't suck for me. I still live in Walterboro. I like and love Walterboro; a great small town. Everybody's different. I like the people here, the events like the Colleton County Rice Festival, fireworks, crafts/art and a parade. My mom's got family here. I have many friends here. I went to school here at Colleton County High School from 2002 to 2006, and graduated in 2006, I was supposed to graduate in 2005, because I missed 1 year in school in 2001. I meet and see other people, other teachers from elementary, middle, and Colleton County High School/Colleton County School District, Colleton Prep, and USC Salk, other mentors, and many more people that I'm now familiar with. Anybody that I know that used to live here, and other surrounding areas like Cottageville, Round O, Ruffin, Smoaks, Williams, Green Pond, Hendersonville, Jacksonboro, and Edisto Island visits unless they still have friends here. Walterboro's Colleton County High School is very high tech and has beautiful auditorium. The Walterboro Wildlife Center has an antitheater for Education, Entertainment, Events, etc. There are numerous beautiful parks within the Town of Walterboro itself. Great Swamp sanctuary (now Walterboro Wlidlife Sanctuary) (as it was previously known and should still be known) is a beautiful park with many trails and boardwalks to enjoy. Edisto Beach is very picturesque with a small-town beach atmosphere, reminiscent of bygone days. I have never, ever had any problems or been the victim of any crimes, accidents, or shootings. This place never sucks. I still like it. I love Walterboro and Colleton County. I like the friendless of the people here in the 'boro.
Walterboro is my Home!!!! The reason there isnt a whole lot going on here is because for the most part we dont want it, I love the Slow pace, I love seeing ppl Ive known For 30 yrs at Walmart everytime I go to shop, here we know our neighbors, and We welcome anyone and Everyone Who wants to live in our lil slice of Heaven, If you want Summerville or Charleston then thats where ya need to be,
I am amazed!!! When I lived in SC it was impossible to find authentic Mexican food. Even at restaurants where all the cooks and staff were Mexican, I would ask them to please make it authentic and tell them I'm from LA so I know what authentic Mexican food is. They would assure me they'd make it authentic, but it was always some weird food I had never seen before in my life! Example: a lump of hash with a tiny piece of green pepper on top smothered with a weird white sauce, which they called a Chili Relleno. I eat the real thing all the time so I know that was not even close!!!
Was there two days ago. My Wife and I stayed @ the Econo Lodge located & 1141 Sniders Highway for two nights. We had to go to a burial service in Ravenel We didn’t see too much of the town other than what we saw getting off of I-95 south and back on again headed home to FLorida. Seems like a nice small quiet town. God bless 🙏🏾
That restaurant used to be called Maria Bonita back in the day. Used to go as a kid to get the baked goods when I visited my grandmother at work. The town has a pretty diverse community, especially toward the outskirts. RIP Pizza Hut.
Nice little drive by places I haven't seen in over 10 years. There was a nice Chinese restaurant just past going over Ireland Creek and a BBQ place on the way to the airport, which was a former WWII installation.
Walterboro is a nice, smaller town, and the people are friendly. There is not too much crime. Town wide activities are fun, such as the rice festival. There is a larger veterans presence in the town. VFW, American Legion, DAV, Colleton County Veteran's Council, and Tuskegee Airman. When you mentioned authentic Mexican, I had assumed that you meant "Juan Y Tres Garcias Restaurant." However, "Abierto's" is also authentic Mexican. You were smart to avoid "El Pueblo's Restaurant." I question their Mexican authenticity. Their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Their food is meh.
I grew up in Walterboro and there are quite a few things for young kids to do. There is also the Rice Festival and other big events. And Charleston is a 40 minute drive away. I now live in Las Vegas and a big city is not all that great, with the school system being substandard and dealing with strung out individuals.
We are Hebrews from the House of Israel. America isn’t our real land. Israel belongs to us! So for now, any place we go to will suck until we go back home!

Ok. So is this small town actually rife with drugs and gangs, as is being reported? Just asking.
It is I was born and raised out there. I still live there. Just be careful out there it's wild. Gotta no ho to swim 😂😂😂 no different then other cities
Yes it is. It started to get bad in the mid 2000s. Glad I left

@@douglaslorin739 You live in a tourist city. It wouldn’t be all that great. But usually big cities have a higher crime rate.
@@douglaslorin739Plenty of drug addicts in Boro City.
@@thefinalwatcher That is a downer. I haven't visited since '08, but I never saw signs of it. The occasional homeless person, yes.
SC sucks
