I can attest that Pellionia needs no special light OR humidity to thrive. I suspect it’s a popular terrarium plant because of its ease, form, and growth habit. But I’ve been growing mine all through the Minnesota winter, with quite low humidity, and it’s just a weed. But better than a tradescantia, or something else similarly creeping, because it’s not quite as fast and it stays nicer-no balding or scraggly tendencies, unlike tradescantias.

.. I got my snow queen from the garden trash where I live.. She had been there in burning sun and dry heat for days, all dehydrated and a dying mess.. Cleaned up in the sink and left in lukewarm water for 24 hours, new pot and new soil.. Cuttings were left to root in a jar.. Now, a year later, she's in a 25 cm hanger in a west facing garden door shaded by upstairs balcony.. The cuttings though is in a 15 cm nursing pot with Leca, happily growing, but, her shelf has been to dark, so she have got darker leaves.. But so beautiful both of them 🤗 the Decursiva I got from a garden center 3 hours away from where I live.. Unfortunately they the had ran out of the Begonia white ice.. I've been looking for that one for the past 8 month.. But, I still holds my breath and stay patiently waiting.. Maybe with a bit of luck 🦋☘️

I feel exactly the same about my Peace Lily Domino. I don't care for any of the "regular" peace lilies, but I LOVE the Domino. The color, the variegation, the texture. So much better in every way! When the flowers get really old, they look green and variegated as well. Great plant!

I am SO glad that you have the decursiva. I live in a small town in Denmark, wich means I have to drive an hour to the nearest Big box plant shops. So this local super market got a small pack of “jungle plants” with no ID, and I thought that the decursiva was a tetrasperma, so I bought it, because I haven’t seen a tetrasperma in real life before 😂😂 I also bought an Philodendron tortum and the fern Leaf cactus 😍😍 I also have an Lemon lime dracaena wich I really love.
Can’t wait to see what your decursiva will do for you. 🤞🏻

    Hi Emma,
I have the pellionia repens almost black leaves with burgundy, it is easy peasy , droops when needing water and propagates super easy. I also have the fern leaf cactus it was a big box rescue, only had 2 leaves, now they are coming out from all over, such a beauty. 6 boobs high had me cracking up, you're the best! My decursiva is such a slow grower🥴, it had the same leaves for almost a year, it just started to crawl, so I pot it up in a narrow clear Rubbermaid that I added holes to, so I can keep an eye on the roots. Seems happy so far, but still hasn't budged🤔. All great choices💚🪴 I love your nails and is that a #13 ring?

My fav easy Hoya is the Pubicalyx splash, sooo pretty and grows like crazy! I finally just found a big hanger of fern leaf cacti!!!! Had to put up a new hanging pole over my big window just for my jungle cacti collection!! They look amazing up there!!! I unfortunately had to repot it the moment I got it home, the soil was heavy, drenched, and had moss growing on top, along with yellowing “leaf” tips, looks like it’d been too wet for too long! Repotting I noticed it’s very brittle, you can snap off pieces without trying,
My raph dragons tail grows SOOO slow, and the growth pattern seems to refuse to climb with mine, both just want to crawl!
My fav begonias rn are the deep red and black ones, the sheen on the red just makes my heart sing

  • @regi985

if you plan on putting the plant in semi hydro I would NEVER propagate in moss. Use water or perlite, this way you don´t need to worry to get any medium off the roots before putting them in semi hydro.

Emma your decursiva can grow without a moss pole. I used a bamboo trellis and it is 12 feet tall in 2 years. I chop the runners when it has more than 2 nodes with no leaves. I have 7 lobes on my growth. Good luck.

I have the pulchra and repens, as well, but I know of a third and possible forth variety, that are both solid green, the argentea and the emerald green, The emerald green may be the same plant as the argentea, however, the leaves look wavier to me than the pictures of the argentea. I didn't find the botanical name for the emerald green. They are nice looking plants, but not as nice as the variegated varieties, imo. Emma is right, I don't know of another besides me (and those of us commenting) that own a pulchra. Until recently, I have never seen pelliona in garden centers or big box stores in the US and only the repens. I found my pulchra in my local grocery store, of all places, about 3, or so, years ago, and it didn't look so good, but I bought it because I thought it was so interesting. It recovered nicely and reminds me of a shingling plant. I bet it would climb pretty well on a moss pole.

My Decursiva has been nothing but a PITA. I’ve tried 3 or 4 times. One grew into the pole so I lost the top. A couple just died. I finally bought a mature one and it’s doing good. I potted it with the headless wonder which, after 1/2 a year is finally growing again.
There is a Epipremnum Dragon’s Tail. It’s a different plant than the Decursiva. I’m on a plant list with a bunch of genius Aroiders and they confirmed it for me. I bought one and was then told it is just a Decursiva. It’s not. But again, the Epi is a PITA too so if you want one, buy big.

B oobie cactus are expensive because they are a mutation of Myrtillocactus geometrizans. Cactus display a lot of mutations to their apical meristem that cause altered growth patterns. This type of growth is known as “monstrose”. While you could theoretically get a b oobie cactus by growing it from seed, in practice, they are always sold as cuttings. Thats why they are more expensive. You can’t just sow 10k seeds and get 10k b oobie cactus seedlings.
That’s the reason why all the other mutants, like the totem pole cactus or the spiral cactus are also expensive.
