There is nothing better than helping children open their eyes to the beauty of nature.
A far greater gift than endlessly piling up the latest gadget or plastic toy.

I totally agree. Perhaps the Green Cross Code should be updated, & also revised for adults; that is to say anyone who owns a mobile, should exercise prudence when crossing the road, & not to 'gork' at their mobile when crossing a busy road. GORK - Acronym for "God Only Really Knows" - Medical slang for someone who has suffered a traumatic head injury and is comatose or in a persistent vegetative state. // Medicine slang, derogatory, offensive
a patient whose brain has suffered severe and irreversible damage and whose vital functions are being maintained by artificial means. What a disturbing example of irony. Gorking at one's mobile not paying attention when crossing the road, hit by a vehicle, to then be kept alive by another piece of technology.

I'm not able to get out of the house very much because of my health, so getting to view these wildlife walks is very therapeutic. My mum and I enjoy watching them together over hot drinks, and learning more about different species is a bonus! We enjoyed seeing a swallowtail in motion for the first time.

Yes! Stay as close to home as you can! With our first child ( also a daughter) I was delivering to a place 3 hours away and a woman walked onto the loading dock and asked if my wife was expecting? "" Huh""?!? She then proceeded to tell me that they were enroute to the hospital and I better get going! We finished the unload and I drove straight to the hospital! Parked on a side road and walked the rest of the way! Yup, 53 ft trailer, full size American "" lorry"" as you guys say! I made it. I was in the room for both of our children. A son who just graduated from college and a daughter who studied veterinarian medicine. Yes! We have many great animals and have had many wonderful experiences in the outdoors! Enjoy this time of life! God bless and safe travels!

No dragonfly on the head this time then! 😆 Top sighting that butterfly. Only seen them once before myself, back in about 1999 or 2000 or 2001 on the Norfolk Broads during a boating holiday. Keep up the good work my friend. 👍👍👍

Thanks for the great video Liam, I used to go sailing every year on the Broads and it is interesting to see Hickling Broad from the land, I really must revisit. I remember having my own marsh harrier experience on Hickling, seeing a pair doing airborne food exchange. Wishing you all the best with your new baby.

I was at Hickling the week after you and there were several swallowtails feeding on the blackberry flowers at the end of the path that goes past the hides. There is a junction which goes to the woodland walk and that was the general area. I stayed there for about half an hour until I got one shot of a pristine insect, several had had narrow escapes from predators with bits missing from their wings. I hadn't noticed any other flowers during my walk, so it was just a case of waiting until they showed up. They do not settle for very long when they are feeding.

That was a very nice walk, Liam. Everywhere I see pied wagtails, they look the same as each other, but quite different from the pied wagtails I’ve seen elsewhere. There really does seem to be an awful lot of local variants. I wonder why?

So as I’m watching this a Southern Hawker dragonfly has flown into our kitchen. Carefully picked it up and now resting in our bay tree by the pond. Beautiful, about 4” long. Think I’m right in saying one of the differences between damselflies and dragonflies, dragonflies can’t fold their wings whereas damsels do. And dragonflies generally bigger !
