Hi There is a BTL converter that will, like Paul said take a single un-balanced input and make an out put that is 180 degrees out of phase. Now on a" regular" stereo feed these 2 new outputs(from the BTL) into the stereo left and right inputs and only use the red speaker connections. Also be careful don't go below 8 ohms. The converter is on Ebay it's a DIY circuit board. Just search unbalanced to balanced converter it should pop up. Again this is a DIY so if you aren't comfortable soldering or connecting an AC power supply, stay away. Just my 2 cents
Is it a good idea to bi-wire my Infinity Alpha 50 speakers with two bridged stereo mono blocks? To be more exact I have 2 NAD 2200 pe and one NAD 1155 along.
I discovered something. I took two sets of speakers with different signature. Cambridge Audio Aero2 and Monitor Audio Bronze2 and play them together from 2 amps, OMG it sounds so good. It turned out that either set plays what the other lacks.
Ouch !! We got there ... I think ! To do this in practice just make or buy an unbalanced to balanced line driver with unity gain and couple the balanced lines to the input of each channel of the stereo amp and hook up the speaker as Paul said ...( check the correct phasing of the speakers though )
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, very few modern amps have ANY kind of earthing on the output stage, all outputs are balanced and floating. That is one of the reasons you're able to brigde certain amps. A bit of confusing and contradictory info from Paul here
I never really liked the sound of early bridged solutions. They had a kind of implausible punch in the mid bass to my ears. I don't know for sure why but I suspect it had something to do with the damping factor that resulted from putting the stages in series.

Paul, isn’t most high-end modern stereo amps full differential anyway? Meaning a stereo amp actually has four amps inside? I suppose such an amp cannot be bridged?
Is running a stereo amp bridged for one speaker better I think he was asking. I’m using one stereo amp bridged to make about 160watts for one of my towers. I have two of the same amps and run them as monoblocks. One for each speaker. It’s either that or only getting 50rms out of them per channel in stereo mode.

He did miss that although you gain around x3.5 in power you lose in impedance. So you half the impedance that the amplifier is able to drive. Bridged mono also comes with other problems it sucks compared to a true monoblock system in sound. There is nothing like a true dedicated mono system. However using a good integrated can be just as good as you have shorter wiring although this is only evident in better constructed integrated amps say as a starter Prima Luna and yes valves/tubes rock contrary to popular belief

Get a multimeter and check the continuity of the negative speaker terminal to the eath pin on the 3 pin plug, or if it's only a 2 pin plug, to the chassis metal of the amp or one of the earth shields on one of your analog RCA inputs and I guarantee on most amps it will zero ohms. We would have to, of course, find a humane way of documenting the undocumented as well.
Take left channel split into two using RCA splitters. Do the same for right channel. Now you have two left channels and two right channels. Take two left channels and input it to a stereo amplifier. In the output side of amp use the splitter again but this time it will combine the two outputs from amplifier to one single left channel. Do same for right channel. Now my question is will this setup ever work or will blow the amp or speaker.? Asking because we are combining the output of a stereo amp into one thought both outputs were carrying only one channel. I hope I was clear.
I never tried this. I get what you are saying but I don't think it will work too well. What you are explaining is kinda like what amplifier designers do when they double up on the output transistors so that each channel has four output transistors instead of two and they are basically paralleled up. But doing this by just connecting the left and right outputs in parallel is not the same thing electronically. I wouldn't recomended it personally. And even if it did not bother the amp, you wouldn't have as much to gain in overall output power as if you use the amp in bridged mode as described in the video.

The converter is on Ebay it's a DIY circuit board. Just search unbalanced to balanced converter it should pop up.
Again this is a DIY so if you aren't comfortable soldering or connecting an AC power supply, stay away.
Just my 2 cents
Yep. It's a relatively simple circuit. Built several in the past.

Is it a good idea to bi-wire my Infinity Alpha 50 speakers with two bridged stereo mono blocks? To be more exact I have 2 NAD 2200 pe and one NAD 1155 along.
Wait, just by using two red terminals, you get bridged amp?? No interior modifications needed?
I’m using an old technics amp in that way (bridged or mono mode) in order to connect my home made subwoofer. No issue at all working like a charm.
I discovered something. I took two sets of speakers with different signature. Cambridge Audio Aero2 and Monitor Audio Bronze2 and play them together from 2 amps, OMG it sounds so good. It turned out that either set plays what the other lacks.
We're all "legal" immigrants or used to be. Big difference.
Ouch !! We got there ... I think !
To do this in practice just make or buy an unbalanced to balanced line driver with unity gain and couple the balanced lines to the input of each channel of the stereo amp and hook up the speaker as Paul said ...( check the correct phasing of the speakers though )
If I walk by a pair of speakers that are playing and they are wired out of relative phase my head feels like it is going to explode.
I know what you mean. I get that too. It's like going into warp.
I've worked on amps where the negative speaker connection was not at ground and if you connect the grounds together you could damage the amp.
Please no politics Paul. Thanky you.

@Edward Allen So you don't mind everyone knowing that you are a traitor to your home country? Figures. The Leftist Twits of America now think it's Politically Correct to overuse the terms racist, white supremacy, and undocumented migrant. Geez, that one takes the cake since by using the term you admit at the start that they are here without Permission from the government. If you think this is trivial, try to sneak over the border into most other countries and then beg for food and money. Go move into a neighborhood full of them in your amazing state and see how long you or your "stuff" lasts. News flash: now the Illegals are bringing out their terror weapon, the machete. Read this mornings news from SoCal. Look at several sites to find out that the attacker and the victims were all Hispanic. Since the attacker wasn't white, most stories will omit that part.

I live in Albuquerque, it's great, but if your "stuff" is outside and not nailed down, or bolted down even, it will go missing. Garages too. It's a drug thing. Also cars go missing at a rate higher than anywhere else in the world, until a few months ago. APD cracked down, so now they are back to robbing houses.
Stuff going missing has been around for thousands of years, go to any museum in England and check out all the stolen stuff (artifacts).
It’s either that or only getting 50rms out of them per channel in stereo mode.
phantastic... now how to invert the phase on only one channel ;)
I can respect differing opinions, but would prefer my entertainment politics free.
It's an educational channel, not an entertainment channel. Apparently you need more education.
hey i have a skytec 2000 mk11 it can bridge but there is no switch how can i bridge to run one dual coil speaker
Good day.I have 5 TDA based amps which im trying to connect via one input signsl and a single volume knob. When i run the amps one by one they run fine but two or more togather they sound crap. The quaility drops nots just the volume. I know i doing something wrong but not sure what, can you help?
He did miss that although you gain around x3.5 in power you lose in impedance. So you half the impedance that the amplifier is able to drive. Bridged mono also comes with other problems it sucks compared to a true monoblock system in sound. There is nothing like a true dedicated mono system. However using a good integrated can be just as good as you have shorter wiring although this is only evident in better constructed integrated amps say as a starter Prima Luna and yes valves/tubes rock contrary to popular belief
Very confusing
Why would anyone want to do this with the plethora of stereo and mono amps out there?
I love his patience and passion for explaining the subject. Also check out Uncle Doug's channel if you like vintage amps and the way they work, he has the same calm way of explaining the technics

As long as you know what bridging is that was perfectly clear. Sorry, not one of his better answers.

thank you so much for your first few words of this vid. 👍🏾
so you make a statement that supports the fact that we are a nation of immigrants even more. take your resentments over people who probably have never hurt you personally, or affected your ability to provide for you and yours, somewhere else. there is some underlying issue with you that has your panties in a wad about immigration and I don't really care what it is, but deal with the source of your problem. I guarantee that it's not immigration, legal or otherwise.
Nice office.
Great info except the ground part. That is not how it works. Heck my amps are only 2 prong with no ground what soever. The ground is important on car audio amps but not on pretty much any home audio amps due to converting ac to ac unlike car audio that converts dc to ac.
A direct connection. That is ground sir.
@@marcusfred4480 Everything i have hooked up is 2 prong.NOTHING is grounded to the (earth). You can ask any GOOD electrician and they will tell you the earth rod pounded into the EARTH by your home does absolutely NOTHING!! Dirt is a terrible conductor.SIR.
@@jondoe6618 Ok. Fair enough. Only that wasn't what I was getting at. I am talking about what is considered 'ground' to the electronics of the amp. i.e what is at 0 volts potential relative to the rest of the circuit. This is the chassis, and also the shield on an RCA input. It's also the negative terminal on your speaker outputs, unless the amp is of a different configuration. But that's very rare.

@@edwardallenthree Progressives like superficial differences in appearance and sex, but uniformity of thought. In the 90s it was perfectly ok to have a variety films about the struggles of individuals of different backgrounds, ethnic or otherwise. With progressive media and entertainment the goal is to force everyone to make the same content with the same ideology and intent to normalize and manipulate behavior. Not that there weren't subversive films before, but it was the individual artist's choice, and the only thing holding the artist back was obtaining funding. If the money people didn't think it would sell or if blatant offense would cut into their bottom line then they would either moderate the content or it wouldn't happen. Now it's all the same agenda, and the companies don't care what their viewers think.
@@Frank_42 I don't understand what any of that has to do with the topic at hand. The only ideas I am trying to suppress are racist ideas. Yes, I have reported individuals for hate speech. That is because hate speech is wrong. You seem to be projecting the approach of Fox News onto "progressive media." An interesting argument, and not entirely wrong (but certainly not correct), and would be interesting to explore. **** But it has nothing to do with the fact that WESTEL AUDIO is arguing that white people and Asian people are better than black and Hispanic people, and should have the right to oppress black and Hispanic people because of their superiority. Read his comments. Look at all them. You will see he is racist AF. That is a problem that even a Fox News addict like you should be able to see. ****
The fact is that there is no reason, none at all, to limit migration (at the moment). Arguments all come down to the one that WESTEL Audio makes above: that immigrants are stupid, lazy, criminals. That argument is slanderous, false, and evil. We can argue about what diversity means. We can argue about whether certain inequities are caused by systemic racism. But if you dare try to repeat WESTAL Audio's arguments that immigrants are bad people, and claim to not be a FUCKING BIGOT, then you are not worth any more of my time.
If you want to talk immigration compromise, by the way, I am game. I would support a dramatic increase in legal immigration (to the point were supply and demand for labor are met) and a guarantee of support for refugees (up to, say, 1 million a year?) in exchange for more money for border security, as well as a system for identifying who crosses, and whether or not they are a criminal fugitive or suspected terrorist. We would have to, of course, find a humane way of documenting the undocumented as well.
@@edwardallenthree you're just a lousy stinking troll just admit it.
This gentleman is very knowledgeable but every time I watch one of his videos I always think "Holy shit get to the point".
