I love her accent. "We're the biths"
I guess it's relative. Your "Beths" might sound like "Baths" to everyone else. Just sayin'!
"We are still The Beths from Aukland, New Zealand." That made me laugh.
I really like that Acrid is here, that's an underappreciated song from Jumprope
The band is ridiculously good. Hooks aplenty and the musicianship is next level. Marvelous!!
The guitar tones had me hooked from the beginning, but the vocal harmonies keep me coming back. It's like ABBA meets the Beatles and cuts a record with the Breeders. This band gets heavy rotation on my stereo device. I think this performance is stellar, but in my opinion, they really shine in the studio.
Merry Christmas.
I’m 62 and loving this band. Classic smart NZ pop. The real deal!
ok
@@Bryce3189 ok
Gives me hope that there is still real music played by real people out there.
So damn fresh! Guitar pop lives! Thank you The Beths from one old boomer who is a fanboy. Well crafted pop tunes, expertly played, live.
+1 from a Gen X-er.
Yes, yes, yes!
So that's why it makes me feel nostalgic and stuff...
Finally a live version of acrid 😍
I was asking myself if I’ve ever heard Acrid live...Amazing song. In a near-3 way tie with Not Running and JRG as my favorite of theirs, but probably the first I’d use as proof of Liz’s genius. Cus it’s genius.
Those harmonies sound incredible, everyone! Loving these news tunes!
Hell yeah this band is fantastic. I bow down.
Brilliant melodic hooks, lyrics, composition, and musicianship. But really, the vulnerability in Liz’s vocal delivery cuts through the most to my ears.
Well said.
I totally agree.
Love her voice
Me too, it reminds me of the B-52s in the way Cindy and Kate would purposely sing slightly out of tune in harmony or just above their vocal range at times. I'm lovin' it.
Loved seeing "A Real Thing" live, great performance! Also Liz is pretty...
Yes brilliantly awkward just like us!!! ❤️👏👏👏
Thanks for sharing WNXP! We appreciate you bringing this to us tonight.
The Beth's are so awesome!!!!
Wow sounding spot on. :)
Liz's guitar tone is fantastic.
Lovely people!!
What a great band, More albums from you guy's! Thank's
Whoever does the sound knows what they are doing.
best band going
Great Band, great Songs! Thanks! 🙂
lovely pop licks....like a melodious mash up of the wannadies and the go betweens
This band is absolute fire!
i'm both stoked for them and bummed for me their only bay area date is at outside lands... i guess i'm seeing them in santa ana!
4:34 Acrid
9:18 Dying to Believe
I was hooked from the first note.
I love these guitar sounds.
@@tiki_trash agreed!
@@DavesCoverSongs Sometimes they remind me of The Beatles and the way they produced and arranged their songs. Having a guitarist/producer that looks like Sir George Martin probably adds to the effect for me. I watched a YT video interview with him recently and it is amazing how much someone can do with so little when it comes to recording music. Also, the whole reason I discovered this band is that I saw that G&L Fallout guitar in a YT thumbnail, I'm a huge fan of their products. G&L just doesn't get enough love IMO. These guys make pop rock cool again.
@@DavesCoverSongs Merry Christmas!
@@tiki_trash Same to you!
Just saw them in Santa Fe. Fun melodies, great guitar, superb songwriting, tight arrangements. See them if you can - it's a great time!
Liz getting interviewed by her future self had to be surreal.
Yet comforting to know that she actually doesn’t hate her current self, and in fact seems to be quite a fan.
As I've been setting up my own drum kit I'm realizing that most of my favorite bands keep it super simple. Tristan's got one crash, one ride, one rack tom, one floor tom. Who needs more?
Also, hey there Ayisha! Super glad that you've joined The Current.
It's not what you have but how you use it
IT'S THE BEATLES!!!
Lizzy is so cool 😊
I'm watching this for the Nth time, and only tonight do i notice and appreciate the handy label on Tristan's shirt 🙃
N + 1
They're so brilliantly awkward
They're from Awkward, New Zealand.
@@orangedcloud Gladys .......go to your room !
it is brilliant!! no obnoxious shit, just letting the music speak for itself 🙏
@@orangedcloud I thought you said awkward Auckland :)
Us Kiwis are an awkward lot
Best thing since Crowded House to come out of New Zealand….
aren't they from Australia? ..
.
@@tomkat69pc no, not at all! Neil Finn born in Te Awamutu…….
@@tomkat69pc If you would watch the video you would know that they are from Aucklandm New Zealand.
It only takes 7 seconds then she says it.
I really lose hope in the cognitive abilities of people. XD
@@dieterdietert7232 tomkat69pc was asking if Crowded House was from Australia, not The Beths.
Crowded House were made up of kiwis and ozzies
I wonder if they're still The Beths from Auckland, New Zealand...
Real Thing... bands like The Beths and Turnstile are proof-in -art that our system went too far....
Also shout out to the Paper Kites. Fly above the city and breathe.
They have new band members in every clip?
it depends whether they are touring and the availability of the members (ben and tristan in particular), but these are the core four 🤞
@@hayleyr4067 Oh I understand, thank you.
20:00 This moment reminds me of an interview with Regina Spektor where the woman asks “What DID you see from the cheap seats?” and Regina laughs and chides her amusedly, “Don’t do that to me!” and they literally just drop it. lol
Interviewed by her former haircut.
Needs more Jon in the mix
Otherwise, killer set!
Definitely thought the same thing about Jon's levels. Although, it's interesting to hear Liz's guitar so clearly. It's easy to believe that any lead singer is phoning in their guitar parts and that is clearly not the case here.
