We took my sons Midget team to see this movie as a team building exercise, ha, and we won a championship that year. Funny memory, they were a great group of boys.
Yea i feel like this is made up. This movie was never in theaters and I'm pretty sure most parents wouldn't let their kids see an R rated movie that has a ton of drugs, violence, profanity, and maybe nudity (can't remember). Good on ya if it's true, just don't see it 🤥.
Wish you saw the last couple of minutes after that. It speaks to where the movie really went. This movie has tons of heart and decent people just trying to get by. Was really surprised.
@Tom Henesey Jay didn't direct it but co-wrote the script with Evan Goldberg. He was also dating Allison Pill at the time so I'm guessing that was a big reason she was in it. So no Jay, no movie.
Ivry watched both movies bit to be honest, what cements slap shot to its cult status for me is the French Canadian dub translation. It's even more offensive that the original.
Alison Pill was so cute in this, and her swearing just made me want her more. She looked like Aileen Wuornos in the sequel though, which was a shame. A special shout to Liev Schrieber though, he was Oscar worthy in this. He didn’t clown his role up, he played it straight and he was immense. Seann definitely at long last broke away from Stifler, and proved he could be a good dramatic actor. This film was a lot better than it had any right to be, not as good as Slapshot but definitely better than Mystery, Alaska.
@@MrDavidKordthere are few of us these days who have been in fights. Even fewer that know what it’s like to respect the opponent no matter who gets up first.
Would never happen in today's game unfortunately. The minute the refs smell a fight, it's 10 mins ejection. No chance you get the chance to skate over to the box.
There's nothing like the feeling of enduring and proving to yourself you can excell in a tough world like that. Also fighting is a lot more fun than you'd think.

@@amorris2235 This story is 100% true, and the movie was released in theaters, at least here it was.
@@amorris2235 yea I feel like hockey isn’t for you
@@richardthompson5436 well then good on ya; I wish I'd had coaches that cool haha.
Nice
Great Hockey film . Perfect mix of total hilarity and examination of the game and its culture .
"Kid! Ready?"
Two words. Such fuckin professionalism.
“Yes, thank you for asking” 😂

I was a good football player in highschool. It takes aggression and grit to be good, but hockey is a real test of fear.
That music. This movie was special.
Def Sean William Scott’s best performance
Dude was hilarious, but yes, this was him at his absolute best.
@@BasedRangerhilarious, yes. But the guy showed his heart also. It was great range for him.
The people who made this you can tell they love hockey.
I love when Ross points at the referee and says, "Don't you fucking dare". Like he would beat the shit out of the referee too if he interfere .🤣
Take Jay Baruchel out and this would have been a classic. Still a great movie with a lot of heart, surprisingly.
Nah, I think there was enough of Jay's character to be integral to the plot while providing some comedy to not be too much.

1 comment are you kidding me! Well what the hell I'm number two. I enjoyed the movie thought dialogue in some ways better than slap shot.

Holy shit this youtube recommendation is awesome
now that's a real hockey fight, not like the NHL girlie men
There's still the odd good fight in the NHL these days.
Jamie Benn vs Luke Schenn this season was pretty good.
Damn this movie is epic
When buddy snaps his ankle 😂☠️
The other team stepped on it on purpose while he was blocking the goal in an earlier scene. It's a little hard to watch
I fucking love this movie.

Not gonna lie, Ross won that fight
Ross got knocked out, turned right into that punch. He won by points but that doesn't matter when one of you gets up and the other doesn't.

Bobby Baun style boys (you have to be old and Canadian to understand that one).
The dude with camera ruins every movie he's in
Yeah he ruined how to train ur dargon 🤣🤣
Sure, Ben. Jay ruined Tropic Thunder. Brilliant analysis.
Also, since he wrote Goon, it is pretty hard to claim he ruined it, genius.
Dident jay direct goon 2 ?
Bruh, are you really positioning your moms phone on the tv for the full frame lol.
What a crock.
Unclear to me why two men brutally beating each other for the crowd's entertainment is heroic.
It's a contact sport, zoomer. Stick to your fortnite and roblox streams, you don't meet the testosterone requirement to play or enjoy this.

The entertainment of the crowd is the last thing they are thinking about. This isn't fucking twitch. Spoken by someone who has never competed before.
