- In Robert Mugge's 2003 music documentary, he delves into the vanishing heritage of juke joints, the birthplace of the blues a century ago. These venues remain vital for regional musicians to hone their craft and delight their audiences. The film spotlights iconic establishments like Jimmy King's Subway Lounge in Jackson, MS, and Morgan Freeman's and Bill Luckett's Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, MS.

Favorite blues is just a fella with his guitar. Turn in to r&b I guess when you get blues with a band
? I get the guitar part but what does that other sentence mean?
There is nothing better than than the Blues.
Truth
Blues fan from Melbourne Australia here. Visited USA twice and have been to Mississippi each time for festivals and fun. There's been some great work done by local community groups and counties all through the South to keep blues alive and well. True, there are fewer traditionally 'jooks' left but even if you can't get that feeling of a 1950's shack with booze and blues, you'll still get great little venues like steak joints or crawfish joints who'll regularly have music, along with the annual festivals and we need to keep supporting it!
Unlike rap and pop you never find violence in blues joints or festivals. Blues is about love , healing and finding peace
Bull
That's a stupid comment. Hell there barley is no blues fests anymore.
Cause they got old. You know it was fights in them JUKE JOINTS.LOL
That's an untruth if I've ever heard one.
Uhhhh… the entire story of BB King’s “Lucille” guitar is based on a juke joint fight
Many Many thanks for sharing God bless you and all the viewers 🙋♂️❤️🙏

MY FIRST TIME, BUT AN OLD SOUL OF THE BLUES ..
MY SINCEREST CONDOLENCES AND SYMPATHIES FOR THE LOSS OF A VERY, VERY LOVED ONE ..
I PRAY FOR THE JOINT .. A HISTORICAL MONUMENT OF MISSISSIPPI AND WITH A POSITIVE SPIRIT I HOPE IT STILL BRINGING THE “BLUES FAMILY” TOGETHER ..
MY QUESTION IS HOW IT HAS BEEN UPDATED VA IN CONSTRUCTION .. THERE IS A TREMENDOUS VIBE AND SOME AMAZING TALENT IN THERE ..
GOD BLESS YOU ALL ..♥️
What a great video ! I love the blues and everything that is related to it, from all the great stories of the plantation life, the crossroads, and especially all the different juke joints in the delta.I am Mex-American born in Southern Texas, but i,m just drawn to this style of music. I was instantly hooked to this video. THANK YOU for posting this. ❤
The Subway Lounge was really special.
Even though a lot of blues artist have passed we will keep the heart and soul of it alive through the music we play. As they say blues ain't nothing but someone having a bad day

Great video. 042024😊
What's the brand/name of that electric blonde guitar w/ tail-piece is that gentleman slide-playing on stage @ 8:25...anyone?
Take 5, they don't change oil filters. Now video
Wow basically a few legit clubs at the beginning and then the “subway” which seems very generic/white tourist accommodating. Their part was huge but it was such refined music almost jazz like. Not into it. But the first 1/4 of this doc was great!
are you implying Caucasians can't have the blues ?
Who is the girl playing slide guitar ?
For anybody commenting, I've been down here. Your great comments and praise are fine and all but enough people didn't show interest to keep these places alive. They're all dead now. People feel victim to their cell phones instead of enjoying good, human to human interaction with people who can actually play instruments and have talent. It is what it is. You made your choice.
Should you not know, The Subway Lounge is no more. Of course it's gone. Just take a look at Jackson today through the lense of it's white Mississippi overlords. A lense of continuing oppression. Shit, I got the Blues right now just thinking about it.
he dont know what classicl means and use it like a charlatan he is
Love it
