You get points in temple trekking based off the difficulty, route you took, and what specific events you completed. The more events and harder difficulty the greater the rewards. You are going to get minimum rewards if you skipped all events on the easy path.

when you take easy paths you get a blue token, harder ones offer different coloured tokens which can be used to gain more supplies and or xp.

Aberrants don't have that high defence, but they do have a really high HP regeneration. So switching targets often means the task takes forever.
