I own the Big Sky, and I have Never become " So Lost " in the Amazing Sounds. I have spent hours & hours & hours just Basking in those Thick, Lush Soundscapes. It's more then a Reverb Pedal - it is: An Inspiration Machine and like an Instrument unto itself.
The blue sky is so easy to use and sounds so good. The big sky is hours of working and less playing I’m not a fan of that at all. Less is more. Play your instrument. I’ve owned both. I prefer the blue sky.
Could not agree more. The features of the Big Sky are nice but it just takes too long to learn how to use the pedal properly. The blue sky is so simple it isn't distracting. I prefer the blue sky too.
I am in the throws of deciding myself and your comment hit on the nose for me. As long as I can get that great Strymon sound. I don't need 300 versions of it. Thanks for saving me 200.00!
Same for the El Capistan over the Timeline for me. El Cap is like a familiar pocket knife that clips to my pocket and I can find it in the dark. The Timeline is like a Wustof 17-piece chef's knife block in a backpack.

I have them both. Both sound super lush. But they sound very different.Blue sky has super realistic reverb types, where BigSky has more lush endless sounding with artefacts trails reverbs.
There is a subtle difference, but for regular audiences they would never know or care. These differences are only noticeable by those that use these pedals on a regular basis.
Tes vidéos sont super inspirants, Antoine! J'ai commandé la Big Sky aujourd'hui après avoir écouté tes compositions et tes reviews. Big Sky - Big Price...mais j'ai l'impression que ça va valoir la peine!
As a guy whose had many pedals over 40 years- I really like the blue sky for is clarity and simplicity. The big sky has a number of options, such as the chorale which are great options. However if you’re looking for a quick and excellent ambience. Blue sky. Thank you for the comparison. It is hard to compare the settings without a spectroscope.
I regret I bought the big sky. Great pedal, but way too complicated for me. I don't really know what to do with it, I end up using always the same 2 or 3 presets. The blue sky on the other hand seems much more compact and practical, I think I'll buy it.
Good comparison Antoine! One small correction is that while the Big Sky appears to have only one tone knob on most of the modes one of the parameter knobs controls low end. So I think you get the same amount of eq fiddling on either pedal.
I watched 2 videos of this. For more style of reverb, i more like bigsky. But for sound the best solid and tone, bluesky is the best. Bluesky is the winner!
that's funny, when I use my Big Sky I literally select a Reverb, then twiddle a knob for about 3 seconds, then I play. never twiddled for more than 20 seconds total.
I miss the compare of the spring-reverbs! They are so different, big sky has 3 options, the most heavy is the tube-mode with a lot of dust. The blue sky has only the decay-knob, on its max-position the spring start to work with a pretty nice metal-sound, its so natural and charming, i love it!! Very nice for dirty blues stuff, with a little bit overdrive e-guitar or an acoustic guitar.
I has bluesky for a long time, never yet try bigsky. It really doing the job well. Ofcourse bigsky better than bluesky. Sometime you need to consider pedalboard space.
I have BlueSky and the tone/sound is as you see here, a very solid, understandable range of tones. I think BigSky could do some of the same and can obviously do more other things, but BigSky is not a BlueSky++ to me. They are different.
Light Warriors What’s wrong with digital? I bet if Hendrix were alive now he would be looking for something new to try digital or analog. And besides practically everything analog has been done. Everything being done now is just copies of copies, but, with digital that’s where we start innovating again.
@@route6666 He said a "purist" which is what my response was in response to....It seems you don't know what a purist is. A purist doesn't compromise purity of tonal composition at all costs. My friend who passed away was an electrical and audio engineer and true audiophile purist who was analog only in regards to music. He had 1970s 8ft tall acoustat speakers that had Kimber cables on stands running across the floor so the signal coming through the cable wouldn't interfere with the carpet and then Ruby bit this and that lps and lots more. He built studio monitors and repaired studio equipment here locally in Nashville. I learned a lot from him but still use digital pedals like my boss rc-50 looper and ehx freeze but the comment was regarding what a purist would choose and a true purist would not buy a digital effects pedal period....ever..that's all.
hey antonie. is it possible that the reverb of the big sky fades out when turning the preset off. its so damn dry when i turn it off :) i think the timeline can do it. thanks for the help
It depends if the pedal is setup on True Bypass (kills the sound when turning it off) or Buffered Bypass mode (reverb continues to ring even if you turn it off). You can find that in the global settings, I think!
I can change it in my El Capistan. You just need to press the Bypass switch down unplugged and then plug the power chord in while keeping the button pressed for like 15 seconds, then release it, play something and turn it off to see if you keep the tails.
My angel conscience: If you really need it just go with the Blue Sky. It's just as good and it won't hurt your bank Me devil conscience: it's just a $200-$300 dollar difference. you know you can hear the difference in the pedals go big or go home kid! My own conscience: AUGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you considered other reverb options? Example : Boss RV500? I'm unsure about buying the Big Sky as even though it is an excellent pedal, the market has a lot of new options.

@Club Soda What a waste of a good pedal then... Praise the engineers of the blue sky, not some imagined magic man in the normal sky ;)

8:37 is my favorite modulation ever on a pedal! Puts the Formant on the mobius and Chorale on the Big Sky to shame... sounds almost human!
They both have some beautiful characteristics
This is really helpful - thanks for posting!
it feels like the big sky is the guys who is friends with everyone & the blue sky has only 3 friends but loyal as fucks.
I’d use one of these as a send/return effect on a DJ mixer. And the ability to recall multiple presents is worth the extra money alone.

Correctly said, many thanks for the analysis!
Big sky like my eventide way to big. To much time pissing about rather than just playing guitar. Blue sky all the way
I agree, you can spend too much time pissing about with too many knobs, reverb should be ideal with knobs at 12 o' clock.
Just spend time play and fiddling 🤔

To me the big sky sounds more fresh. The blue sky sounds just a bit more course. A purist will like the big sky better, I think.
Honestly, a purist wouldn't buy anything digital in the first place.

Both pedals are great but, that gear Is it just only for an Acoustik guitar.? Somebody can tell me please

the demo sounds like an electric guitar to me, which is probably what someone would buy these for.

No, they both are being played in stereo, no difference, but I had to put the Blue Sky first for the reason you stated.
BlueSky sounds better to me (in terms of eq)
Blue sky better has a more analog sound to it warmer and fuller. The big sky sounds very digital.
High Damp, Low Damp... the BigSky has more EQ controls in the Menu parameters, not just the Tone control on the top panel. You didn't mention this.
