A lot of the "clean beauty" stuff goes bad quickly because they don't use preservatives that actually work well. I don't seek out "clean beauty" for that reason. Spoiled products can be really bad for your skin. I appreciate the companies that are "clean" for the sake of the environment and have environmentally-conscious packaging, but not if the actual prodcut doesn't have proper preservatives. Also, when you have to throw away products sooner that actually creates more waste.

Preservatives aren’t even “unclean”, like they’re still made of organic material. I really like what Half Magic has been doing with their compostable blush packaging, I’m excited to see if other makeup companies respond to that with their own compostable packaging.

Never bought Drunk Elephant products. Never will. Too expensive. Recently the founder invited a bunch of influencers in her state - Texas - to meet her, discuss the products, etc... Saw a couple of Instagram or YT vlogs : actually she entertained the influencers during a couple of days - nice hotels, fancy restaurants, rodeos, and of course flight trip offered. A couple of them flew from Europe. At the end the consumer, i.e. us, pays these costs when buying the products.
The same with Ole Henriksen who looks to be very kind, enthusiastic. Also entertains influencers - last year on a island in Spain, these days in Denmark to celebrate his birthday.
I am happy that some influencers can benefit by those interesting and fancy trips because I love to travel and discover new spots.
But I am not going to pay for it if I can find decent products at a decent price. And saving money for my own trips 🙂
Thank you for this video and your whole work

I recently ordered from Rose Inc for the first time, and they were running a really generous "pick two samples at checkout" where one of the choices was a full-sized refill of their cream blushes. I ended up with 3 (I got their discovery kit and used the included code to grab their concealer in a second order, which is an amazing product btw). Two of the refills already had gone off by the smell, and it became clear that, while generous, this offer was to get aging stock out quickly in a way that wouldn't cause a return of product. (IMO, I have no proof of anything.)
I also recently bought a $22 "best of" kit from Milk, and the bronzer was already OFF, and the highlighter started smelling after only a week and a half. Again, another "deal" that I suspect was made to move out the fast-aging clean products. From my personal experience, I just don't see how this is sustainable, especially at the prices they charge. I feel like a sea change might/should be coming to how clean makeup is sold, marketed, distributed and priced.

I’ve had my Kosas concealer for several months and hasn’t turned on me yet. That being said, I also bought their powder bronzer and it was patchy and smelled like a greasy hotdog by the third month I had it. As far as texturing sprays I looove the results with both Oribe and Kristin Ess, but I can’t get behind Kristin Ess scents. The heavy white florals give me an instant headache every time.

I'd love to hear your recs on a dupe for the Protini Moisturizer from Drunk Elephant. I've had great results using it at night time-- I feel significantly less irritation and overall stronger skin barrier. I've been attributing those results to the protein peptides.
But man the price point hurts! I typically buy the value size when Ulta has a 20% off of prestige products promo going to get the price/oz down.
I don't see too many protein moisturizers out there, so would love to hear alternatives!

That's very quick that you used it up. I don't think the average person is using it up in that time and it's not long after that the product turns and starts smelling off which isn't safe to then keep using. A typical concealer has a much longer shelflife.

Kosas concealer claims it has a 6 month shelve life (which is very normal for a concealer) and for the 3 that I've gone through, that is actually very accurate. All the complaining that it goes bad fast is why it took so long for me to try it and I'm sad about that because it only one that I've found that perfect skin match. It is probably the type of product that is perfect for some one that just wants one super good reliable product and not a huge collection.
But, I feel the need to point it does have preservative in it that function perfectly fine. It is probably more likely stuck at 6 months because of the skin care it has it. Particularly that it has Vitamin C and I have not found any vitamin C product that does not go bad between 5-6 months. Maybe if you put it the fridge it would last longer? Plus it would depend on how you are storing it. (Its also the least affective form of Vitamin C, so why they need to put that in there is beyond me. I think that where they get the "brightening" from, but this type of Vitamin C doesn't actually brighten).

$68??? Goodness gracious. And it lasts like what, a month? I use a $22 moisturizer from Cocokind, can’t imagine spending over $30 for skincare. Glad it was nice and useful when you had it- it would have sucked if you spent $68 and it was terrible. 😅

It’s so odd to me that the Rose Inc bronzer gets stiff like that when (in my opinion) they perfected the blushes and I’ve had mine for such a long time - it’s still great! Weird.

I wonder if the packaging accounts for the difference here. The bronzer comes with a twist off lid whereas the blush is in a compact. The packaging has the same shape but different opening mechanisms.

@@v.besson6808 Julia adams has mentioned she has to twist the rose inc bronzer lid super tight to the point where it doesn’t match up in order to keep it from drying out so fast. I agree that it is probably a packaging error

Kosas has a mini concealer now if u want to use it quicker. I have the kosas concealer bought it 3 times now and never had an issue with it going bad or breaking and I do have other concealer I use also but I love the kosas concealer it's my fav even over my 40$ concealers I am always hunting the perfect concealer and the kosas concealer is my fav sucks they raised the price I remember them being 28$ I think not 30$. I don't like the Tarte juicy plump things they dryer my lips out and made them burn and super dry it's a NO for me , I think it's the peppermint oil in it maybe and my lips don't like it.

I have to disagree on the drunk elephant. At my age anyway you can tell a difference in drugstore skincare. I do use some drugstore but I can't find a replacement for my DE lala retro moisturizer or my Zo eye serum!!
