    Thank you! I did my first games 2 years ago and had no idea what I was doing except for the momentary lesson on site, lovely and supportive sport it is. I heard someone yelling, "Get it in the pocket!". Makes sense now.

    very cool. I appreciate your posting this. I've just started tossing caber at school, and nobody seems to have this much advice on technique. I can't wait to apply the stuff I've learned from your tutorial!

    @SonnyAmou
    I think you're on the right track, for sure! The major lifts are where I like to spend my time: bench, incline, OH press, front squat, back squat, and of course hang snatch and hang clean. Best of luck to you, Sonny!

    Excellent...good information here. I learned much the same information from another thrower and it was key to my being able to get my turns.
    I'm still a jump stop'er...but that was what I was taught, may have to try your way and see. Thanks for the examples and good luck as a Pro!

    Hi Dan, I'm just starting out, transitioning from being a mediocre thrower in track because this seems way more fun and exciting. Caber is pretty foreign and a bit intimidating for me. Your video is extremely helpful and I appreciate you putting it on! Thanks!

  • @mckimdaniel
    @mckimdaniel  16 лет назад

    Thanks man, I'm glad it was helpful. Yeah, I try and concentrate on the hips, and it seems to be more explosive in a competition when you're psyched.

    Thanks DL! Yeah, the jump stop works for a lot of great throwers, so I agree it works for many. Hope to see you in St. Louis. Happy Training.

    Sometime you want to go out and throw, let me know. I'm just minutes from the park I throw at, and I've got all the equipment. I go in the evenings after work, and yes, it's a monster of a caber!

    Thanks for this vid. I've never tried it, but I'd like to. The technique looks straightforward enough, and i stress: 'looks', but what size caber should somebody start off with to train?; Should they be shorter or is it better to just start right off with full length?

  • @prairiestitcher2724
    @prairiestitcher2724 6 лет назад

    It seems like pulling straight up when it is already tilted a lot makes it spin and hit the ground faster... Why not pull up and forward, wouldn't that make it go further?

    How does one train for the caber toss as a beginner?

    • @mckimdaniel
      @mckimdaniel  10 лет назад +2

      The best way is to get a caber and just start playing with it. There's no replacement for the real thing! Good luck!

    • @Surielis
      @Surielis 10 лет назад

      Thank you so much sir! A friend of mine has some old telephone poles near his place which aren't in use so we may cut those down for practice! Will those work?

    • @mckimdaniel
      @mckimdaniel  10 лет назад +1

      The Sylvan Smith
      I would make sure they are smaller, power poles. Telephone poles are too big. You can make a caber with supplies from your local hardware store (boards, screws, glue, sandpaper). Good luck!
