Marlow thinking that hitch is sleeping while in 11:45 you can notice hitch who in reality was awake waiting for Marlow to come back....another love story destroyed by Isayama
Now I can say it and don't need to hold it in. Carlie's 3x12 mid-credits reaction: "What was Armin doing? ...He was just chill." Chill? CHILL?!!!!!!! CHIIILLL!!!??!!!! 🤣
"My dreams.. my life.. everything! This is the one and only thing I have to give!" 16:16 is such a good conclusion for Armin considering how since S1, he's always asking himself "Those who can't sacrifice anything, can't change anything.. What should I abandon?" and now he finally figured the answer
Erwin's speech inspired many, including Marlowe and the scared red haired boy. He convinced even those shaking down to their bones to charge with him in the hopes that their sacrifice would make a difference. Marlowe thought that Hitch was asleep, but she was actually waiting for him to return. The scared boy was the only one who emerged unscathed. But even though he was scared, he still rode forward. He still fought. MONKE down. I do appreciate that Levi knows he wouldn't have gotten this chance without the help of everyone charging. If the Beast had noticed him even a few seconds earlier, he would've hurled those rocks in Levi's direction and it would've been over. The Beast has lanky arms, which are amazing for throwing. Amazing for long range. But when you get up close and personal, that's where he struggles a bit. Armin was the one who showed Eren his book and told him about the outside world. Armin was the one who gave Eren the idea of going outside the walls. He gave Eren the idea of freedom. And even when Eren doubted himself, Armin was the one who gave him the motivation to keep going. You can tell that Eren is absolutely devastated by what happened. He doesn't sound sad, or happy that he took down Bertolt, he doesn't even sound angry at the end. He just looks and sounds completely and utterly broken. Because his best friend Armin was a hero.
nah Armin is useless. i still wish they should have bring back Erwin. like no one can replaced Erwin. armin was so useless like he didnt complish anything after he was back alive lol
@@syaredzaashrafi1101 1. I know they recorded ep 3x18 with this one but spoilers! 2. The very person that Erwin himself gave credit and believed in because he knew Armin was on his level of intelligence/planning. You don't have to like Armin, but dude is not useless. That's just you wanting to demean his character because you don't like him. As far as the next season (spoiler free), their introduction was a lot of Armin's own planning and he got his hands dirty so I don't see useless as the word I'd use.
@@thesmackdragon fyi i like Armin. but i wish he should have died and end his story there cuz it will make his character a truly tragic heroic story. but because he didn't die, he was bring back to life, thinking that he will be much better worth to returning him back to life than returning Erwin back to life which make us expecting that Armin gonna accomplish big things than Erwin but that didnt happen. Armin didn't accomplish anything after he return, he wasn't able to come up with a plan to stop Eren from rumbling, which makes it feel like Armin's character was pointless after he was bring back to life. i feel like if Erwin was bring back to life instead of Armin, i think Erwin would've been able to stop Eren from rumbling
@@syaredzaashrafi1101 Incorrect. Erwin is a good leader, but good leadership can be taught. Armin's intellect, natural instincts and reasoning are all inherent abilities to him. That can't be taught. Also, he just formulated the plan that defeated the Colossal Titan, the single biggest physical threat to the team thus far..."useless" is not the word to describe that.
12:52 I don't think Renier's loss of memory was because of the split personality. Right before this he got his brains fried by Thunder Spears and the Colassal's transformation.
This episode is a masterpiece. Always making me cry. Even though Erwin did gave up his dream in the end, Armin had been so selfless throughout the show. And the plan he came up with even included sealing the wall which was their goal in the first place! Truly amazing! I loved your reactions, both of you. 😍 Thank u so much! 👏
I disagree. On the contrary, Bert thought that what Armin was doing was very brave but pointless. He wasn't confused about Armin's courage but about Armin's plan. He simply didn't think what they could do, add to that that he saw Eren fell so he thought Armin was on his own. Also I think that the reason Bert started burning faster ("I'll make it quick for you" or something like that) which gave Eren an opening to attack, was because Bert respects Armin. That's kinda nice, having in mind they're enemies and they HAVE to kill each other.
As a Lord of the Rings fan, somehow it always reminds me how Erwin and the scout's final charge is similar with the riders of rohan in the battle of pelennor fields. The green capes, the death charge, and freaking epic speeches from Commander Erwin and LOTR's King Theoden
I won't be surprised if Isayama was inspired by that. He took inspiration from GoT when he was writing the final season, and was a huge fan of Breaking Bad.
100% agree. I also love lotr a lot, and consider the battle of the pelanor fields and the battle to retake shiganshina as some of the greatest moments in television history.
I am not sure about the inspiration since there a ton difference but it definetly is true that these two cavalry charges are the greatest in film history and rival each other for the most epic scene in television
At this point everyone had a soft side for Reiner, the way he was everybody's big brother and even saved Conny's life. While everyone thought of Bert as inferior, unimportant, sort of lackey. However, I actually respected Bert for not acting like a friend towards people he had massacred before, and I kind of understand why he was so silent and distant, much like Annie. Idk why people just judged him and didn't look at it from his angle. Actually, Reiner's act is what made the Scouts feel betrayed and wounded deeply, they had a hard time thinking of him as an enemy and trying to kill him, and refused to believe his betrayal until they saw it with their own eyes. I just feel that Bert's character doesn't deserve all the "humiliation" he gets for not being a hypocrite, as opposed to Reiner who's just hated for being the enemy.
Thanks to watching your reaction, I’ve gained a much deeper appreciation for Erwin. On my first watch, I never saw his determination to uncover the truth as selfishness. In the end, he abandoned what he was drunk on, entrusting his will to the living, much like Armin had given up his dream and entrusted it to Eren. Perfect episode and reaction! ✊🏽💚
My favorite moment was Armin's sacrifice, even through the excruciating pain of being burned alive (which is probably the most painful way to die) he still held on until the very end when the metal wires of his ODM gear failed & literally melted away. Armin is a true Hero.
What I love the most about the confrontation between Levi and the Beast is how Levi got him so hard at every single strike. - He launches his hand at Levi. Levi completely slices his arm. - He protects his nape. Levi was aiming for the eyes. - He asks: “Did he took out my eyes?”. Levi is already cutting off his legs. - He tries to harden his nape and protect it with his hand. Levi slaughters his remaining hand and doesn't even give him time to harden his nape. It's not even fair.
Now you guys can understand why most of the AOT fans hate that credits scene, it gave away a LOT of mystery and tension. Imagine you didn't know if Levi came to the rescue, imagine not knowing all that. Regardless the episode will have a lot more surprises for you
@@fareszaz3461 now the people who were saying to watch that scene are no where to be found😂 That scene was put..just because there was a gap of 1yr or few months..to maintain the hype.. But if you are watching it in an interval of few days..then there is no point of watching because you'll figure it out some context after the hero episode if not all of it.. So it takes away the mystery
I think there are two ways to approach season 3 part 2: 1) Watching the end credits of S3P1 and feeling an air of dread and horror going into S3P2 especially since the last ep of S3P1 was so hopeful and happy 2) Not watching the end credits and instead to realise the horror and magnitude of the dilemma that's about to happen in the next episode. I don't think there's one better way to watch. I do believe each offers unique experiences. The best part is, Attack On Titan offers so many pivotal moments that this issue that we're talking about isn't too drastic compared to the many plot twists and turns the series is yet to offer after the next episode.
It's actually my favorite opening. It's fast paced and got me hyped for each episode. I'm also not the sharpest viewer, so I wasn't able to predict much based on what was shown. I compare it to watching the trailer for a movie.
Carlie crying made me cry again at the scene. Such a sad and beautiful episode. Armins sacrafice is so powerful, going in and literally choosing one of the most painful deaths so his friends can see the sea.
The main reason why Levi destroyed the Beast titan is because "Zeke" doesn't have any experience fighting human using their ODM gear. That's why he seems interested about it while checking on Miche's gear in the first episode of season 2. The Beast seems extremely powerful with a massive throwing technique but doesn't seem to have any kind of defensive ability. The Female titan (Annie) was way more deadly against them because she had experience of how ODM gear works. But even so, she still lost against Levi. So yes, Levi is still a beast ... I was waiting since a long time for you to watch that episode! Its clearly one of my favorite, maybe even my favorite! Great reactions as always! But it's far to be over! 🤗
Also Levi caught the beast completely by surprise. Beasty barely had time to stretch out his arm before Levi was all over him. That and he does seem slower than the female Titan and the longer limbs also do not lend themselves as well to close-in combat as human-proportioned arms.
@@joen4287 hahaha I feel you. I’ve watched AOT reactions from different youtubers for the same episodes and the episodes still bring out emotions. Truly a masterpiece of a series to be able to engage us audiences even after we already watched the first time
Just so you know, Zeke was constantly hardening his nape and Levi was constantly cutting him, that's why that extended cutting scene in the end Also in the montage showing everyone waiting for thier return inside the walls, Hitch wasn't sleeping but awake and waiting for Marlo, looking out the window...... Love the fact that Carlie is speaking about the Facial Expressions in situations of the characters. Aot makes A LOT off these small details so its awesome if you can look so deep.
For me the facial details in S4 by mappa are even better x). Not in pt1 but in pt2 the traitor episode, the last episode... They literally live through hard detailed facieexpressions
This has to be my favourite episode of the series. As much as I love season 4, this is the culmination of all of the buildup of the past 3 seasons. I've never felt how I felt when I first saw this episode before, no other show has even come close. Incredible.
Hero is the best episode in this season. White horses represent the triumph of good versus evil, a symbol of hope in times of despair, like Erwin's speech last episode.
This episode is the second best episode of television history according to IMDb after Breaking Bad's Ozymandias. Hero actually had surpassed Ozymandias many times but currently its on the second spot.
Angelo: "Best episode yet" Yes, man!... 9.9 out of 10 on IMDB. It scored 10 for a looooooong time. It was a historic record for any TV show. Don't check the score so you don't get spoiled with the other episodes thumbnails, but that number is a fact!
What kind of beings rate this episode less than 10, how in the world did the score got lower? I' m interested to know from a scientific viewpoint: what do they are like, what do they eat, what kind of civilization do they have, do they have some traits in common with humans etc...
One thing about isayama Is it’s amazing everything is planned ( as much as possible ) and so connected To a point sometimes , as weird as it sounds , feel unnatural as if everything happen for a reason and become a plot device It’s like every character , every memory happen at right time right amount of info , every event is for next event It is genius writing for sure but going back few times , u start to notice Not saying Erwin is not completely selfish about wanting to see basement but it seems that isayama purposely add more detail or written in a way just “beginning of this arc” that make it easier for viewers to “root for armin “ next episode ( since they already saw it it’s not a spoiler ) I’m sure Erwin has always wanting to see the basement and it’s human nature to be curious / selfish but it feels forced Btw Never realize Erwin and armin have similar names in terms of alphabet Won’t be surprised if it’s intentional
The guy who broke down and gave the monologue with pinkish hair is 'Floch'. We've seen him before in that scene when he tells the scouts that they all look different now. He is a brilliant character.
Good Job ! Thank you. keep it up. I certainly wouldnt mind a 40 min video every episode, the discussions are very refreshing and enjoyable, it sets me up in a good mood everytime. both of you are very smart.
dear most of the comment section, 20:20 THIS IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE DON'T RECOMMEND WATCHING THAT ENDING SCENE. it is so easy to predict at this point and there will be no surprise anymore. jesus the comment section really needs to realize this
The title "hero" refers to many characters who made a sacrifice. There was Armin for holding on so Bert could be cut out, Moblit who pushed Hange out of the way of the blast, Hange for using her thunder spear in Reiner's jaw (despite her injuries), Erwin for dedicating his life and leading the charge with all the new scouts, and Levi for singlehandedly bringing down the beast titan (he chose to sacrifice his bae Erwin 😢). RIP to the fallen survey corps 😭😭✊🏼
It’s crazy that the people I wanted dead during this time were the people we needed alive for future things in season 4 to transpire. Also “Memories of the future” will always and forever be my favorite episode I’m glad they are watching it in sub so when they get to that episode they can see what I mean
Exactly That last credit scene was best when watched after Season 3 part 2 And that credit scene was just to keep viewers hooked up because of the weekly gap between episodes
I understand your viewpoint, but I disagree here. Watching that scene after the positive conclusion of Season 3 Part 1 gave them a shock and curiosity that they wouldn't have gotten if they skipped the scene. Look at their faces a few episodes back as they're watching it. I'd say that was worth it.
True, and I think the big problems are 1. They don't have big gaps like us between part 1 and part 2 so obviously they still remember it very clearly, and 2. They breakdown that scene which is not supposed to, that scene was just a teaser to make us anime onlys shock and manga readers hype, that's it. Breakdown the scene would ruin it cus then you spoiled yourself. But well, it's too late now😥. I just wanna say to viewers, don't let this happen again for other AoT reactors.
Hi guys, how do you feel now about watching the after credits scene?Would you prefered to go blind into "midnight sun" or you think is a better experience anticipating what is about to happen?
41:29 The hardened hands that Eren had were not for the plan against the Colossal. It was the hardening he's used since battling the Armored and Eren just didn't remove it because it's not practical to do so.
The first time I watched this episode I was literally jumping up and down in my living room shouting at the top of my lungs. One of the best episodes of any show I have ever watched. Thanks for sharing these reactions. These are fun.
And I love the titan carrier most of all. She kills the least of all people, does the most work, and when fighting strength is needed, she has a lot of it. The moments where she will show herself have not yet come out. Well, the pilot is beautiful and clever.
You can think and feel what you like about Bert, but he has never shown any hints of awful personality. He has responsibilities he has to see through. Just because you refuse to look at the hints doesn't mean they're not there. He fell for Armin's plan because he cared too much for Armin as a friend and didn't want him to suffer.
Yeah it's normal. Many people feel this. Its feels different when its a person you know personally getting killed. That, while its not that much anger at the time Reyner killed many people when they break the wall. Those people's death isn't have the same feeling as the death of Marco. (spoiler warning) Especially those life lost furthermore down the series.
I genuinely like bertholdt. His story is one of the saddest mainly because of how the other characters and the fans view him. He was just like the other marleyan kids, doing what he thought was right, probably to be able to get his family in a better standing in society. He's felt guilty the entire time he's been on the island and been more hidden away from everyone else because of it. How scared he looked when Reiner spilled the beans on them being shifters, him breaking down when everyone confronted him when him and Reiner were running. And then finally coming to terms with the bad he was doing, because really what other choice could he feel he had. He didn't like it, but he had to
Marlo was a good guy. Not the biggest screen time but his actions spoke for his character and that quickly made him grow on me. Definitely one of my favorite side / minor characters.
Also guys, Episode 19 is called The Basement and has a mid credits scene you need to watch. The actual basement reveal takes place over like 3 or 4 episodes.
This episode left me a mess when I first saw it. So many hype moments, combined with the tragic sacrifice from Armin was too much for me emotionally. The combination of episodes 16/17/18 together left me where I could hardly breathe. Other people say it all the time, so it might get tiresome to hear it again, but the writing in this story really is just on another level. I love watching your reactions to this show, and I can't wait to see your take on the episodes to come. Love you guys! ❤
They already watched the next episode, so no point in trying to mess much with them... But I wanted to point out that the injection wouldn't bring back anyone from death. They need to still be alive (even if in the brink of death) to be turned into titans. They obviously know now that Armin wasn't death... but yeah. Had they know that it wouldn't work on a corpse; they may have gotten more worried about Armin's future.
@@uniquescience7047 I'm not so sure, eh? The way they talked about it made me think they thought it could bring a corpse back to life. Granted, maybe Levi's translation subtitles saying "[...] I can bring back to life." while thinking about Erwin (instead of something more along the lines of "Bring back from the brink of death") maybe is partially to blame...
@@Kaemonarch bruh no , they clearly only thought they could revive erwin becuase he was found alive.. otherwise, they would have been carefree and thought erwin would be brought back even if he dies.... they 1000% knew it couldn't work on corpses

Shout to Marlo for keeping it going when Erwin fell
Yeah :’)
"My dreams.. my life.. everything! This is the one and only thing I have to give!"
16:16 is such a good conclusion for Armin considering how since S1, he's always asking himself "Those who can't sacrifice anything, can't change anything..
@@hanzalarafat466 Spoilers for the channel, jeez
12:52 I don't think Renier's loss of memory was because of the split personality. Right before this he got his brains fried by Thunder Spears and the Colassal's transformation.
short term memory part of the brain blew off
Yea they blew his head off there's bound to be some memory loss
MY EYES LITERALLY WENT BIG AFTER SEEING THIS EPISODE HAS 43 MINUTES LONG REACTION!!! DESERVE!!! 😭😭😭
Goat he died
"You were alright Marlo, the haircut was debatable" DAMN, it was too soon".
The story only gets better and better from here on out.
⚠️Spoiler⚠️
And Darker :(
It's already dark enough but gets even more darker
Thanks to watching your reaction, I’ve gained a much deeper appreciation for Erwin. On my first watch, I never saw his determination to uncover the truth as selfishness. In the end, he abandoned what he was drunk on, entrusting his will to the living, much like Armin had given up his dream and entrusted it to Eren. Perfect episode and reaction! ✊🏽💚
My favorite moment was Armin's sacrifice,
even through the excruciating pain of being burned alive (which is probably the most painful way to die)
he still held on until the very end when the metal wires of his ODM gear failed & literally melted away.
Armin is a true Hero.
Reminds me of those monks that set themselves on fire in absolute silence as protest against government persecution
Remember that red haired soldier guys, his arc is only starting now
What I love the most about the confrontation between Levi and the Beast is how Levi got him so hard at every single strike.
Regardless the episode will have a lot more surprises for you
Same thoughts here i was just about to express that's why we didn't want them to see the it
@@fareszaz3461 now the people who were saying to watch that scene are no where to be found😂
That scene was put..just because there was a gap of 1yr or few months..to maintain the hype..
But if you are watching it in an interval of few days..then there is no point of watching because you'll figure it out some context after the hero episode if not all of it..
So it takes away the mystery
I think there are two ways to approach season 3 part 2:
1) Watching the end credits of S3P1 and feeling an air of dread and horror going into S3P2 especially since the last ep of S3P1 was so hopeful and happy
2) Not watching the end credits and instead to realise the horror and magnitude of the dilemma that's about to happen in the next episode.
@@Darkrider_Adi Carle and Ange themselves said they were glad they watched that scene
Carlie crying made me cry again at the scene. Such a sad and beautiful episode. Armins sacrafice is so powerful, going in and literally choosing one of the most painful deaths so his friends can see the sea.
I am crying every time I rewatch this episode and Armin's sacrifice. So well written. Isayama nailed it.

Love the fact that Carlie is speaking about the Facial Expressions in situations of the characters. Aot makes A LOT off these small details so its awesome if you can look so deep.
unfortunately the facial expressions in S4 is so so bad, mappa just can't express enough a lot of Eren facial expressions.
7:35 thats actually the steam from the female titans blood
This episode is the second best episode of television history according to IMDb after Breaking Bad's Ozymandias. Hero actually had surpassed Ozymandias many times but currently its on the second spot.
Angelo: "Best episode yet"
Yes, man!...
I know it's been here for a couple episodes now but man, your cover/intro really hypes me up.
One thing about isayama
Is it’s amazing everything is planned ( as much as possible ) and so connected
To a point sometimes , as weird as it sounds , feel unnatural as if everything happen for a reason and become a plot device
It’s like every character , every memory happen at right time right amount of info , every event is for next event
It is genius writing for sure but going back few times , u start to notice
Not saying Erwin is not completely selfish about wanting to see basement but it seems that isayama purposely add more detail or written in a way just “beginning of this arc”
that make it easier for viewers to “root for armin “ next episode ( since they already saw it it’s not a spoiler )
I’m sure Erwin has always wanting to see the basement and it’s human nature to be curious / selfish but it feels forced
Btw
Never realize Erwin and armin have similar names in terms of alphabet Won’t be surprised if it’s intentional
Hero is second highest rated episode in IMDB history for any series, animated or live action..truly some of the best writing in tv history
This episode is still the highest rated anime episode ever, and after on second on 2nd and 3rd is episodes 16 and 18, and I love all three of them
The guy who broke down and gave the monologue with pinkish hair is 'Floch'. We've seen him before in that scene when he tells the scouts that they all look different now. He is a brilliant character.

dear most of the comment section, 20:20 THIS IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE DON'T RECOMMEND WATCHING THAT ENDING SCENE. it is so easy to predict at this point and there will be no surprise anymore. jesus the comment section really needs to realize this
The title "hero" refers to many characters who made a sacrifice.
20:20 that's why it's much better not watching the end credit scene on part 1. Now you went to episode 18 knowing what to expect. 😅
true
Exactly
That last credit scene was best when watched after Season 3 part 2
And that credit scene was just to keep viewers hooked up because of the weekly gap between episodes
True, and I think the big problems are
1. They don't have big gaps like us between part 1 and part 2 so obviously they still remember it very clearly, and
@@camachoreloaded5496 Yeah but then they breakdown the scene so much that ofc it will stick to their mind so the experience will be lowered.

18:19 "and then we're gonna be sad again" im dead 🤣
41:29 The hardened hands that Eren had were not for the plan against the Colossal. It was the hardening he's used since battling the Armored and Eren just didn't remove it because it's not practical to do so.

You guys are in for a ride, from here onwards the show is on a whole different level.
(spoiler warning)
Especially those life lost furthermore down the series.
Weird to defend a mass murderer
@@rabnessmonster25LMAO STFU all the characters are mass murderers by the end of the show
I genuinely like bertholdt.

They already watched the next episode, so no point in trying to mess much with them... But I wanted to point out that the injection wouldn't bring back anyone from death. They need to still be alive (even if in the brink of death) to be turned into titans. They obviously know now that Armin wasn't death... but yeah.
