"Coraline" is my 2022 best steelbook & discs art was the icing on the cake🎂 🏆
As I’ve increased my 4K purchases lately, I usually opt for the slipcover to offset the increase in expenses, since steelbooks are almost always more expensive. I work at a record store where I can get 4Ks at cost from the vendor that we use, and that cost for slipcovers is, as a general rule, cheaper than that of steelbooks. If I like the movie enough and like the steelbook, I sometimes get the steelbook if it’s available from our vendor-and once in a while I’ll get elsewhere if not available through our vendor. Edit: I did pick up The Fog, Army of Darkness, Carrie, and Pulp Fiction steelbooks! I really like them!
How big of a discount is cost?
@@MichaelWarne, it depends on the 4K, because studios have different MSRPs for different titles. It’s usually not a huge discount, but it helps. I can often get a $30-$35 4K for $20.
I loved the godfather steelbooks they all looked great
Dune import steelbook which shows the son & mother running down the sand dunes looks better plus top gun Maverick Steelbook is my top 3 along with Coraline steelbook

Solid list. You should do a video on top regrets that you missed buying hah. I had Encanto in my cart and missed it. I also missed the Dredd steelbook and 2018 The Thing blu ray steelbooks.
Wish they'd released dredd in uk 4k steelbook. I imported mine and it was like a 🍌.
My top ten 4K steelbooks for 2022 are... 3:10 to Yuma, Starship Troopers, Event Horizon, 8 Mile, Indiana Jones Trilogy, Juice, Heat, Fright Night, Heavy Metal, and Terminator 2. Best overall packaging: Columbia Classics 4K Collection Volume 3!
Terminator 2 was last year but good list. Fright night is soo good
In my opinion the best 4K-Steelbook this year comes from Sony : "Fright Night". 👉😍👈
The Hunger Games steelbook box set was awesome. I bought this set because of the design.
I liked the following in alphabetical order:
1) Carrie
2) Coraline
3) Event Horizon
4) Indiana Jones re-release black steelbooks
5) Lightyear
6) Sonic the Hedgehog 2
7) Starship Troopers
8) The Untouchables
9) Uncharted
10) Venom: Let There Be Carnage
I regret not getting the heat steelbook but alas as always Adam thank you for the content and updates you are a godsend for everyone trying to keep up with all the stellar releases
Writing before watching. Clerks 3 best. Has slip that changes the picture on box when on or off and second disc not stuck like normal is on Best Buy steelbook also price is right
Event Horizon was one of my top steelbooks of the year (along with Reservoir Dogs). The Fog was one of the better ones too. Can't wait for the new They Live steelbook to be released in a few weeks. That could possibly be a contender for next year.
The only 2022 Steelbook I have is Event Horizon, and I like it a lot. I'm curious about your list. 🤔

I feel like Sony did a nice job with steels this year. Heavy Metal, Fright Night, Lawrence of Arabia. Dracula.... all very solid
The "newer" version of the The Batman steelbook - the one that debuted in Italy - looks way cooler than the original US steelbook
Good list Adam, although, in a video about best steelbooks, your honorable mentions should also be steelbooks. Maybe you could’ve also done a top 10 packaging video. For steelbooks, I think La La Land and Warrior deserve a mention!
I might be wrong, but I believe if you hold the Dune discs against a bright light, you can see hidden artwork on the discs which resembles Spice and Sand. They're not just plain orange as you might think looking at them when they're placed inside the steelbook.
I buy most of my movies either from a pawn shop or when they go on sale so I don't own many steel books. I did have to pony up the cash for the Army of Darkness steel book though. it's probably my second favorite steel book right behind the Hunger Games Best Buy exclusive set. Those are absolutely beautiful.
Great list. I missed out on a few of those. Raw deal on Steelbook is very sleek. And although it was a late 2021 release the T2 Studio Canal Steelbook is also very nice.
Other ones I can think of are the Indiana Jones individual Steelbook releases. Like the artwork on them better than the box set release
The hunger games 4k steelbooks , the godfather, dune and event horizon be my top 5.
Nice list, my favourites this year have been Godfather trilogy, Coraline, Untouchables, The Batman, The Green Knight, Army of Darkness, Ghostbusters and not a steelbook but Columbia Classics has really classy presentation and packaging.

Steelbooks are better in my opinion, The Disc is safer inside and the Artwork is beautiful on most anyway. You can display them and show them off like vinyl collectors do with them 👌🏻

I was going tp get the heat one, but I read on multiple sites that the 4K transfer sucked
It's a shocking transfer, stick with the blu or even dvd.
I have the alternate steelbook for the batman the one where he is walking in front of the batmobile! It's pretty good
Some good picks in there and some really weird picks too... Heat steelbook? I can barely see it when I display it. Why pick that one over Top Gun Maverick, Running Man, Starship Troopers, Thor Love and Thunder, just to list a few top contenders.
Since Best Buy got rid of most of their movies I rarely go there these days and man I think I've missed out on a lot of these releases.
I'm pretty sure that those UK ratings logos on the Polar Express steelbook are stickers and you can take them off.
Silent Running deluxe steelbook version from Zavvi is amazing. Also Robin Hood. Please look into it.
I have the Robin Hood steel, I even did a review on it.
I am still angry with Arrow for releasing RoboCop and An American Werewolf in London on Blu-ray in a manner that seemed like no 4K was coming. So I bought them, and right after, they were released on 4K. NOT COOL ARROW. Also, they need to reissue the DUNE 2021 Steelbook. That thing lasted all of 5 minutes on the Best Buy website and I never had a chance. The secondary market is RIDICULOUS.
I ended up getting the regular version of Army of Darkness 4K. The original artwork is so iconic, and the steelbook just doesn't look great to me.
no fright night?
Gutted Robin Hood isn't on that list, nor are the godfather trilogy steel books, all of which are beautiful just like the I.J trilogy. I still love The Fog & Army of darkness for my favourites of this year. 👍👍👍
I haven't put too much thought into this, but The Fog definitely stands out. Maybe there is some recency bias in play, but I also find the House of the Dragon steelbook to look quite nice. And I think Moonfall deserves an honorable mention. The movie itself may be a full-blown turd, but that steelbook is very well done.
