What will the maximum output be for powering a house?
From the onboard power panel of the Ramcharger or REV the maximum output will be 7.2 kW.

I love these types of animated engineering layout videos. As a mechanic, seeing the individual battery pack moduels come together gives me more confidence that I'll be able to replace them myself once the warranty runs out.

Months of waiting and it was a press release. I got more info from other early look videos. Cmon RAM, do better.
I think the Ramcharger is going to be very successful and I hope that technology is expanded on going forward. I am all about EV technology, but I also don't want to deal with range and charging station anxiety. The Ramcharger eliminates that anxiety while still having the awesome benefits of an EV. I would love to see a heavy duty version of the Ramcharger in the future!

Will the bidirectional charger allow you to connect a trailer with batteries to extend the range while driving? Or plug the trailer in to a charging port and charge both at the same time, where it's hard to access the truck port when connected to a trailer?

I’m a Ford guy, never really been interested in a Dodge. BUT…. The proposed Ramcharger is checking a lot of boxes for what I want in my next truck. Increase the capability of the power outlets in the bed (for an RV as an example like what’s available in the F150 Hybrid) and I’ll likely become a convert.

I'm on the buy list for the Ramcharger and will be pulling a 4,500 lb rv. I know the Ramcharger is rated at approx. 670 miles of range, but what kind of mileage can I anticipate pulling this rv? I am sure you guys have figured this out. I appreciate your response. Thank you!
Styling seems a little soft. Also will there be outlets in the bed like other ev trucks and at what voltage will they be. My dirt bike has a 240v charger and it would be nice to charge it up off the truck like the F-150 Lighting can.

I am on the buy list for the ramcharger. I will be pulling my rv nationwide. One question I have is, "Will the electric motor run for short distances without activating the gas engine, or does the gas engine run all the time"? It would be important for me to be able to run exclusively off the electric motor for short trips to the grocer, etc. What say you, Ram? Thank you!
The gas engine wouldn’t run all of the time. Why have any batteries if that were the case. I bet though that once you deplete your batteries on your towing across the country trip your gas engine WILL have to run all of the time. It’s unlikely it could tow and charge up the batteries at the same time while towing.
What kind of plugs and power is expected in the front trunk and bed? What is the front trunk its load capacity?
The Ram REV features an available onboard power panel that provides up to 3.6 kW in the frunk, while also boasting a Best-in-Class 15 cubic feet of storage space with secure, weatherproof protection. The onboard power panel in the bed of the REV or Ramcharger can provide up to 7.2 kW.
Will the Ramcharger Tungsten have the same features as the ICE 1500 Tungsten such a spray in bed liner, bed cover, chrome mirrors ect?

As a Ford Lightning owner who, couldn't wait to get back in a ram, this was extremely disappointing! Live Q&A??? Just regurgitated information. Did you think you can appease us with this....I'm pretty sure you just ticked off many of us. Pretty sure this lack of new information tells us reservation holders not to hold our breath for the release! How far are you going to push it Back Ram, Q2 2026, maybe Q4. You know, just tell us!

Will they come with CCS or NACS charging connectors?
The video clearly shows CCS on that platform but I guess that could change for production models.

Absolute horrible with CCS… if no NACS I WONT BUY ONE. NACS and I’ll buy one… cash! Simply comes down to that one item for me !
It’s really not that big a deal for most folks. CCS network has been better every year and even in the charger challenged Southeast NACS access will make things easier but not drastically change where i can take my Rivian.

Will it be able to operate as an automatic standby battery backup for home to switch on when grid goes down?
The Ramcharger can power a home for 30 days with device power rationing-based on 10kw hours per day for 30 days using a fully charged battery and full gas-powered on-board generator in a well-ventilated area.
Will the engine be able to charge the battery as you drive - then you could reach a destination fully charged? Is there a way to set preferences on desired level of charge? Do you have an idea of the performance while towing? (I expect a 50% reduction in range) Is the range estimate (on the dash) accurate - (Tesla's are optimistic)?

Great question! Under normal operation, we expect to “deplete” the battery energy first before the generator will turn on to provide charge sustaining operation. There will be special modes that allow you to “hold or achieve” a particular state of charge.
If I had to decide, I’d pick the Ramcharger, not just because of the classic nameplate, but because you get the best of both worlds. Period.
Will the production Ram 1500 REVs offer the pass throughs shown on the prototype units?
The Ram 1500 REV will not offer the pass through shown in the Revolution Concept BEV, but it will offer Best-in-Class frunk with 15 cubic feet of storage space with secure, weatherproof protection.
I'm on my 10th EV, 2nd EV Truck, please for the love of all EV Charging put the charge port on the bumper or within six inches of the corner. Tesla and Rivian have it perfect. Ford and GM have their head in the committee room, please don't copy them.
And REAR corner please, not front. Makes it hard to do a hard 90 turn into a public charging space. Trucks should always be backed in.
Will the REV and Ramcharger have the multifunction tailgate as an option?
When are there going to be test drive events so we can see in person?
Two questions: On the Ramcharger, will the bed be removable for a flatbed tray conversion ? And what will the maximum payload be for a "hopefully" Rebel trim :) ? Seems like a perfect Overland vehicle
My second Q&A question was if they were going to provide the self-leveling air suspension similar to the Rivian, perfect for setting up level at camp.
Stay tuned for more details on trims to be released in the future, but recognizing that a base version is capable of 2,625 lbs max payload, options and features that are selected will reduce the payload value accordingly. With respect to removing the bed for a flat tray conversion, the Ramcharger was designed with the bed as an integral part of the structure in order to ensure its durability and crashworthiness; it was not designed to maintain those attributes with the bed removed or replaced with a flat deck/tray.
What is the expected range for towing large loads on the Ramcharger? Do we expect a 50% range reduction (Common for EV trucks)? Or less (Assuming the generator provides better towing efficiency)?
Expect the range drop to be similar to a normal ICE car, since that’s essentially what the charger is, but because it is charging a battery instead of directly driving, it can run at its most efficient speed
Towing range is going to depend upon the trailer size. Our current analysis is that with a 14,000 lb. trailer we expect a combined towing range to be >250 miles at 65 mph on level ground

Yes! The Tungsten trim will be available on the Ramcharger.

Has any testing been done towing with a payload for range on battery/fuel combined? Thanks! Eco-diesel owner here sold on the Ramcharger locomotive idea wish it was still diesel. E85 flexibility might be cool.
Yes, extensive testing goes into our trucks. The Ramcharger will deliver targeted best-in-class maximum payload capacity of 2,625 lbs. and 14,000 lbs. of towing capacity.

Thank you for sharing that estimate, for me that’s a workable number! And there will be a lot of variability with weight/terrain and also for wind resistance and “driving style” as well. Like most living/working/playing around NorCal we tow up into the mountains occasionally and back down. Will a towing regenerative braking setting be incorporated? Or the ability to increase the regenerative charging to help with and take advantage of slowing the additional mass?

On the Ram charger how often do you have to change the oil?
How often you need to change the oil will depend driving habits. Our control system is equipped with an oil life monitor which will maximize the time between oil changes while still offering maximum protection of the generator.
Say I use it 10 times a year to haul my 7,000 lb trailer 250 miles each way. Using the generator to make it without charging. Would I need to change the oil 10 times or 1 time. The rest of the time I would be on only electric
I think the RAM Charger is a great idea following in the footsteps of the Locomotives that replaced steam. A modern Locomotive has an engine that powers a generator that provides electricity for the electric motors driving the wheels. The RAM Charger’s design is brilliant, no transmission, drive train, differential, transfer case, etc., all of which add weight and require maintenance, and replaced it with batteries to provide short range electric power. Why didn’t someone think of this sooner?

The point is that this technology is not new, it's only new to the truck segment.
They're actually building semi's now with this concept, and pickup truck retrofit kits to come. Check out Edison Motors.
You know this concept is a knock-off from Li L9, don't you? It's brilliant, but it wasn't created by RAM.
Really needs to have NACS charging port so that it can utilize the Tesla Supercharger network!

"RAMCHARGER" Can you plug in a camp trailer 220V to dry camp? Also can you plug into your home as a battery backup?

Indeed, with a generator onboard, we could now easily electrify HD trucks, too.
But with the Cummins.
I don't think Cummins would make sense. You need something that doesn't add much weight, doesn't require complex emissions control systems, and doesn't take much space, either.
EV motors are already much stronger than the Cummins motors would ever be, so it will feel every bit as HD worthy, regardless. The motor is only needed to recharge the batteries afterall.

@@oozk oh sorry I wasn't clear enough, since Cummins already produces generator engines that would be a great fit for this application. Also since you don't need a heavy transmission there's loads of weight savings already. But yeah the 6.7L Cummins weights around half ton.

When towing the battery is running low and the generator is turned on what will the output be? Will the generator be able to keep up with the power loss while towing?
For level towing, the generator is sized to meet the needs of our max trailer weight. For more severe grades, we have a special mode where the battery and generator work together to provide maximum towing capability.

Wondering what the warranty will be on the Ramcharger? Bumper to bumper, Batteries, Drivetrain, and is the generator considered part of the drivetrain?
Both the Ram 1500 REV and Ramcharger will offer an 8-year or 100,000-mile Electric Powertrain Limited Warranty, 8-year of 100,000-mile High Voltage Battery Warranty, and a 3-year of 36,000-mile Basic Limited Warranty.
What happens when you run out of juice? Can it be jumped?
Why is the generator powered by a full size V6? A smaller engine or disel could run the generator just fine as it is only running the generator.
With the time you have before you roll out the REV, I can't believe you did not adopt the NACS (Tesla) charging type instead of the CCS. A missed opportunity IN MY OPINION

People in Canada aren't part of the microtransaction RRI+ bs (Exclusive paid cashgrab club). I want to purchase a REV to replace my RAM Rebel. All I get are marketing emails for things I do not care about and no information about the REV (that I DO care about and am willing to spend the money to get a home charger and upgrade my house for).
Lets get some action. At least a time frame when I can order one better than "soon".

Getting the impression there was a sudden change of plans here. Was expecting more than a 4 minute video of already known information. Don't get me wrong, I love the direction y'all are going in with these trucks but people have MANY questions. I personally am dying to know the price points for these things as just about everything depends on that.

Did you bother to add satellite view to the map in nav yet? We bought our Tesla over the Kia EV9 just for that feature. We will do the same when it comes to a Truck.

@MrCjohnson098 I currently have a 2500 with the cummins and it have the same 14,000 towing and 2600 payload as the Ram Charger so it would be nice to convert. We have 2 other electric vehicles and love the ev concept . Fast and cheap to drive

they say it has 14,000 lb towing capacity with a 2,700 lb payload. So, yes.. It's a 3/4 ton.
The maximum tow capacity of both the REV and Ramcharger is 14,000 lbs.
Who thinks the BEV vs Hybrid is their truck of choice? When these come out in volume, is ICE still on your radar with gas around $2,000-$3,000 a year?

They should release a smaller battery version of the Ramcharger so it might be affordable. I could get by with 30 or 40 miles with daily charging. On a long trip, it would not matter if the battery ran out after 40 or 140 miles..
Read the Specs. 690 miles is "Combined" All electric mode is 145 miles. A 27 gallon gas tank recharges the batteries. Perhaps a smaller more efficient engine would have made it cheaper and more efficient. Questions that could have been answered if this was a "LIVE Q&A Event". I thought this was exclusive content to the early adopters that paid the $100.

Not a very though video more data needs to be disclosed. How many miles can you get on fuel part only. Sounds like 120-130. Not impressed with anything electric yet, way more infrastructure needed meaning charging locations, before I would even consider.

This was a disappointing experience/video. I thought they were going to answer our questions LIVE and share new developments. Instead, RAM is cherry picking which questions to answer in the chat and ignored the rest. The video shared information we already knew in a different way. What a waste of time.
