    I think this is really great cuz I have ALOT OF HOODIES. It gets freezing where I live, but I feel like I’m constantly taking them in and off and it gets really annoying. So I want to put them to better use and sew zippers into all of them to make my life easier.

      @@oncearoundtheparkpls I have the same problem with my shoulder, and can't wear my hoodies. The problem comes when you need to move your shoulder when putting the pullover on, or removing it. I can no longer wear anything that requires full range of motion in one or both shoulders. The pain is excruciating. I don't have arthritis, I have adhesive capsulitis.

    I don't know if it's possible, but I would want to have some kind of overlock stitching at the edge of where the thick hoodie garment was cut to keep that edge from eventually fraying & fuzzing up. Maybe even some kind of cloth glue, or some of that fusible cloth, or 3M water protector. I wouldn't want to have to fold some of that over. I have 3 pullover hoodies I want to convert to zipper but at the same time I don't want to shorten the width of the hoodie where the zipper will be because there is some design & lettering on the front which I would ideally like to keep as continuous as possible. It's hard to explain.

    • @TessHere
      @TessHere 6 месяцев назад

      I was thinking of adding a bias tape or similar to extend the width & cover the edge so the zipping & unzipping won't fray the edge. Then sew the zipper onto the bias tape. There will be a gap between any lettering or image. As long as it is an even or small gap, it may be something I could live with knowing that the edge won't fray. I like that idea of stabilizing underneath first before cutting.

    I question cutting it afer putting in the zipper. As said, raw edges will fray after wear and washing. I do like the interfacing suggestion to hold in place.

      Eric Jones; Since no one got back to your question and it’s been a year, I’ll give you my opinion. Sewing by hand, (I believe) is weaker. I really like using a sewing machine for projects such as this one. I just think using a machine, the stitching holds up better. Just my opinion. Have you tried this? I actually just found this video. God bless friend 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

      he is saying that this is not the correct way to install a zipper because both the zipper-tape and fabric edges are unfinished. after a short time the fabric will fray and look bad.

    • @emoja30
      @emoja30 6 лет назад +10

      It may not fray but it may roll regardless of the interfacing. I think it was done this way because of the design on the shirt otherwise you'd cut the hoodie first. Id then turn the hoodie inside out and with right sides together sew it back together with a stay stitch about 5/8 inch from the edge. Iron the stitch open then do what she did except instead of cutting seam rip the stay stitch

      I'm not sure if you will see this, but you can put some fusible stuff on each side of the zippers. Then cut through the middle of the fusible stuff. Then sow both sides together. In the end it will most likely end up smaller than it was before though. I haven't tried it so it might not work, so do it at the risk of your zip-up

    • @xungnham1388

    Please don't do it this way. You should put the zipper on the right side, right sides together, sew it on. then fold it over and top stitch it so you don't have a raw edge. this looks so bad and is going to fray after the 1st wash
