Fun trivia: imaginal discs (with a c) are parts of an insect larva that become the outer parts of the adult insect when they undergo metamorphosis. I like to think this album has the general theme of “parts of your youth that determine who you are as an adult”. Matt and Mica’s brains are just on another level.

As far as their discography goes, this is their 2nd album. Their first album, "Mercurial World", is not as adventurous as "Imaginal Disk", but is still a great synth pop album. For the promotion of their first album, they asked people to send them voicemails with secrets, as one of the singles is called "Secrets". In the deluxe version of that album, they included a few of those recorded secrets from that promotion. The album loops the last track back into the first, but the deluxe edition breaks it by putting a secret as the first track. They also have 6 EPs. Their last EP, "A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling", contains their most popular track, "Killshot".
