- Unboxing!! I get a 1940s Hollywood Pattern catalog in the mail! Let’s look inside at the fashions!
This pattern catalog is from Hollywood Patterns, a pattern company in existence from 1933-1947.
Come take a peek at what was in fashion in 1943, during WWII fabric rationing.

I'm so pleased you are now the caretaker of this pattern catalog.
This was amazing to watch!!! So many beautiful ideas. I love 1940's fashion and this is just golden. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
That was so enjoyable!!! I took a million screenshots 😂! I think I want a dress from every page!! Thanks for sharing!
Awesome find! I'm going to need to watch this again on the big screen tv.
Definitely, my first watch was on the phone -- SO much Better on the desktop, plus, pausing it is easier (and very necessary.)
This was So Much FUN!!! I don't know what I liked more -- the pictures, the old recipes, the fact that You Have Some, or THE CAT!!!!! It would be fun if you let us know what the different categories corresponded to (pies, frosting, etc. = skirts, tops, etc.) and what recipes you received. I wonder if they are all contemporaries of the catalogue or if they are younger than the book.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!!! Stay well!
This was SO satisfying to watch! And now I want a 2 piece dress sooooooo badly!
Fab handling of the cat invasion ;-)
Such a treasure trove of American wartime fashion! Also, I did a double-take at 16:44, realizing that I actually have that coat pattern on the left- hand page. Hollywood 930 - which featured an actress named Shirley Patterson of Columbia Pictures. It's been on my want-to-make list for a while, now.
AH YOURS HAS HOLLYWOOD 903! That is literally the pattern I am sewing up right now for a Queens Gambit style.
Can’t wait to see! LOVE both the pieces in that pattern 😍. I need to watch that show,
P.a- everyone looking at comments go subscribe to Stephanie’s channel if you haven’t already. Vintage patterns galore!
This was sheer heaven. Thank you!
I really enjoyed this, and will be referring back to video for inspiration. Thank you so much
It's fascinating to look at the patterns in the USA, which are apparently designed for fabric rationing, and comparing to the patterns elsewhere where fabric rationing was obviously stricter. No pockets, no lapels, narrow skirts, fitted sleeves without puffy tops (mum grew up in the war). Designed to get the most out of a piece of fabric and while they may well have had false pockets (the top with nothing else) they certainly had nothing of what is shown in this catalogue. I find it truly fascinating and actually prefer the plainer styles without all the fancy extras on them, they were instead dressed up with extras made from scraps but which could be worn with a number of different blouses or dresses to change the looks (collars, belts, etc).
Great video.
What a treasure! It was fun spotting a couple patterns I own in the catalog. I’d love more videos like this if you have other catalogs!
This is a great video! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing this! I now have a great need for the coat pattern - 959 I believe it is.
I also think I have a copy of the Red Cross uniform pattern. I'll have to take a look in the morning. Fingers crossed it's the same one with the hat patterns too.
Merry Christmas,happy new near 💕👌🏾🦹🏾♂️🌷👼🏿
I have some Hollywood patterns I inherited from my grandmother. I’ll have to look through and see if any are from your catalog year. Thank you for sharing and going into so much detail.
you have such a soft relaxing voice! so much inspiration in this catalog!
amazing! thank you so much!
This was wonderful!
It was really fun to see the catalog; I wish we could still buy those patterns! It's interesting that the catalog refers to what people would call casual wear as "sports wear"; I have a 1940s etiquette book from my grandparents, and it refers to those kinds of clothes -- as well as more casual house dresses, skirts and blouses -- as "country wear," as opposed to "town wear." It was also fun to see P. at the beginning of the video; she's getting so big!
My dream book, but the postage and fees is mind blowing.
I think I only have ONE Hollywood pattern! Didn't spot it in here; I'll have to go see if I can look up what year it is.
