Not this particular recording, but this piece. Last year, I was playing viola in an orchestra with a girl named Mary. She is one of the best high school violin players in the state. The first time we played was chaotic. Until, of course, we got to the solos. There, in that moment, I heard the delicate and accurate notes emerge from a haze of disorder. Every time I think about it I get a little emotional, remembering the beauty and raw talent that echoed through that room.
Do you suppose that the movements in each of the seasons represent the Zodiac signs as well? Like this 3rd movement of Spring represents the Sign of Gemini. Which fits perfectly because it is jovial, free-spirited, up-lifting and airy. I love it!
