    Thanks a lot for posting this info and review. I target Snook, Redfish, Spanish Mackerel (2-7 Kg) from the beach (USA and South America Atlantic) with lures 20-50 grams and occasionally just toss live bait. I wanted a light and strong reel and came to the conclusion between a Twinpower XD 21' or a Certate LT 19' to pair with a couple of rods 2.1 m (200 gr) and 2.4 m (260 gr). An important technical detail is the gear ratio. I aim to get a reel with the lowest possible gear ratio (for torque + durability) while having a retrieve speed of 90+cm. Although I love the looks and technology of the Certate LT, only the high geared models (HX 6.2:1) retrieve 90+cm, so at some point this may cause premature wear by pulling 20-50 gr lures and fish constantly in the Surf. Now, the Twinpower XD 21' 4000HG (245 gr), with a relatively low gear ratio of 5.8:1, a nice retrieve per turn of 95 cm. Which of these reels will be more durable and best suited for my Fishing?

      Hi Christian, looks like your point is the reel will need to have at least 90cm but lower gear ratio but 90cm with Power Gear will only be at least #8000 size or more, which would only be for heavy duty models, and that's a little too big against your requirement.
      The second best from your requirement is, as you already mentioned, 21 TP XD 4000HG, 5.8:1 + 95cm and personally I think this will match to your requirement.
      We basically think those 2 reels are quite similar, but different for handle length, line capacity and drag feeling, so if you like DAIWA's drag feeling better than SHIMANO then 19 Certate would be good, but if not, I would select TP XD because DAIWA's LT4000 line capacity is much less than SHIMANO's #4000 and you can have #1.5-300m with SHIMANO, which is safer for mackerel / tuna species, as you may be able to cast your jig for 80-100m first, then when you hook those fish at the landing point it could then go further and further. You can also have PE2-230~240m on SHIMANO.
      And those reel has more torque and power comparing to old models, so I believe even HG model has good enough power and torque.
      At least, when I used C5000XG the reeling power was at least stronger than lure hooks, even though it should be the weakest torque model.
      Hope this helps you.

      Hi! I'd go with 4000 or C5000, depends on what line capacity you would like. 3000 could be a bit too small and light against your rod. 4000 for PE1.5-320m, 5000 for PE2-300m, and you can even spool lighter line with pre-spooling by mono line first, if you want :)

    Question. The twin power XD 5000xg said on there that it can spool up PE #2 300m. When I tried to spool it up with electrical tape to take advantage of the whole line but it ended up over fill. What do you think?

    • @jpfishingtacklenews195
      @jpfishingtacklenews195  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi Jimmy :) I can't exactly say but here are some guess, one is that your line could be a bit thicker than expected. Or, line tension could be a little less.
      I am assuming line thickness is much higher possibility though, as line thickness of the same # number are actually different.
      At least the line I spooled this 5000XD is PE#2 300m and fit perfectly. That line is YGK X Braid Blue Sniper PE2 for reference :)

      Thank you for your comment!
      Hmm that really depends on personal preferences. Here are just my preferences:
      Body: 24 Certate (pretty similar), just because I love Monocoque body.
      Gear: 21 TPXD, smoother reeling than 24 Certate, not sure about durability but this reel does not have any issues on gears still.
      Rotor: 21 TPXD is lighter, 24 Certate is slightly heavier but lighter
      Feeling: 21 TPXD is lighter and smoother, 24 Certate is opposite but slightly stronger
      I would use 24 Certate mainly from now on as this is to be used for tougher, stronger type of fishing which 24 Certate can be suitable more.

    I have 2 certates one LT and one SW.. would you bother getting a TP to test it out or just go another certate? Thinking something around 5000-6000SW size

    • @jpfishingtacklenews195
      @jpfishingtacklenews195  2 года назад

      Hi, it really depends on what you are after with the new reel and what you love.
      If you prefer DAIWA reel rather than SHIMANO you won't need to go to TP.
      For heavy duty I would go with Certate SW or TP SW, but if it's for middle use Certate LT or TP / TPXD. TP has metal rotor so the beginning of spin is slightly heavier than Certate, TPXD is quite similar concept to Certate LT however really characteristic to SHIMANO reel.

      I have 5000LT and 14000sw.. looking for something in between so either TP SW or certate SW 5000-6000. Just wondering whether you'd bother getting a TP out of curiosity or just stick to the Certate?

    • @jpfishingtacklenews195
      @jpfishingtacklenews195  2 года назад

      @@daves7104 I see, if you are after in between, this is just what I would do if I were you, but would go with TPSW 6000 or 8000.
      It is just because I like SHIMANO's bail better and am used to it, therefore I wouldn't miss bailing like I did with Certate in this movie.
      But again, if you are used to DAIWA's reels then you would feel much difference on SHIMANO's reels, so if you are really keen to try SHIMANO then TP SW can be good choice but if not, probably easier to stick on DAIWA as you are used to.

      @@daves7104 No worries at all, we are all very happy if we could be your help :)
      Yeah especially normal Certate LT was really impressive, which we assume it may be renewing in the next year 2023 as well as SHIMANO's Vanquish.
      Honestly both are really good reels but like you are used to SHIMANO and are keen to have TPSW, that could be a good choice, especially if you fish on a boat.
      In that way TPSW #6000 can be used for a lot of type of fishing, for example in AUS jew, mulloway, snapper, kingfish ~10kg, cods, mackerels, longtail tuna, GT, etc.

      @jpfishingtacklenews195  4 месяца назад

      Hi, hmm that sounds odd, at least it's not happening with my reel and rod as you can see in this video. If you could compare to other SHIMANO reels and see if it's much closer than others, then probably should take it to the shop where you bought one and ask them to check or repair if possible.

    what is in your opinion of all reels now the best option for general salt water fishing with plugs, light jigs (20-30 grams) and soft plastics?

    • @jpfishingtacklenews195
      @jpfishingtacklenews195  2 года назад +3

      Hi, it really depends. If you have a rod below 200g I'd use this 21 Twin Power XD for versatile of light jigging, plugging and soft plastics because light, low inertia rotor is sensitive that gives you more information from your plugs.
      But if you use it more for tough use like mainly jigging, I would use 20 Twin Power, as it has metal rotor and can have more power to reel in.
      For rods more than 200g, I'd use saltwater model such as SHIMANO Twin Power SW, Stradic SW / DAIWA Certate SW, CALDIA SW, with #4000 - #5000 depends on the line capacity you need.
      Hope this help.

    • @jpfishingtacklenews195
      @jpfishingtacklenews195  Год назад +1

      Yes absolutely, the reel has no problem for casting and jerking. But I think you'll need to think more for what you target. If your target is something that you'd need to tighten the drag pretty much like amberjack, kingfish, grouper then normal TwinPower might be better as it has metal rotor. If you need lighter rotor for some reason, this will definitely be better.
      Good luck!!

    Do you recommend it for bass fishing

    • @jpfishingtacklenews195
      @jpfishingtacklenews195  2 года назад +1

      Hi Daffa, hm... honestly not for bass fishing, this is very nice reel but if you spend the same amount you can have more suitable reels for bass fishing like bigmouth, small mouth - like DAIWA Luvias / Luvias Airity, SHIMANO Vanquish / Vanford, Complex XR etc.
      If you are talking about 'cod type' monster bass fishing or barra, definitely yes.
      The Ci4+ rotor is very light, smooth and sensitive more than metal rotor / DAIWA air rotor in my opinion, but supposedly this has big diameter drive gear inside and therefore the reeling power is very strong, which you can even fight against over meter spanish mackerels.
