I don't see it as an argument, it's the start of an intimate conversation between Mizore and Nozomi. A fleeing moment of communication that only those two can understand. That is the moment that Nozomi realized she was Liz and she would be holding back Mizore in the future. I don't see Mizore and Nozomi having the argument that followed the piece out of anger, but it came from misunderstanding one another. Nozomi is afraid that after Mizore realizes that there's nothing special about her Mizore would leave and just like the pufferfish she went on the defensive to keep Mizore away from her in that vulnerable state. Mizore doesn't care, because without Nozomi's friendship Mizore would not be the person she is now. Everything for Mizore changed that day Nozomi asked her to be in the concert band.
The bluebird wanted to be with Liz but deep down she also wants to be free. There was scene where they were outdoors and Liz asked the bird to never leave her. So the bird thinks Liz didn't want her to go.(Liz's decision is her decision ) Another scene shows the blue bird staring at other birds in the sky. She didn't say anything but Liz understood. *Every night* the bird fly outside but returns home b4 Liz 'wakes up', Liz pretended not to know so that she never have to face that fact that she should let her go. At first Liz wanted to 'cage' her, but then deep down she knows blue bird should return to where it belongs. The bird didn't want to go but when Liz set her free, even though she was sad to leave her u can see the joy and excitement in her eyes. Liz was brave to make the choice. Sometimes we're in denial of our true desire because of someone important, but when that person knows, and make the decision to let us go, there's no longer anything holding us back. For those who think that Liz should've caged the bird, imagine Nozomi going to music school because of someone else, it'd be a disaster.
We never want to be with someone who locked down our freedom. But, who knows if we feel locked down or not? No one but ourself. Which kind of freedom do you mean? And how could that person knows that you freedom is taken by him/her. In this case, that blue bird has freedom to fly freely on the sky, but she has freedom to love and stay with liz as long as she can right? Liz also has freedom to be together with the blue bird. When you live together some freedoms may be fade, but there were not just "my freedom" and "her freedom", but there was also "our freedom". In this case I want to ask. Say goodbye to the blue bird and the blue bird fly high to the wild sky, is that the best choice for them? Or just for one of them?
Hats off to the sound editing team. The entrances by the ensemble are just a tad bit off, showing that they're still learning the piece. They're not entirely up to speed with the tempo of the piece they're playing. The little baited breaths added to emphasize their hesitation to play. So many little details. It's so uncommon to find this in anime nowadays. Good job Kyoani.
I do not know why I did not cry the first time, yet I understood the whole story but for all that I admit that this scene of the film is very beautiful.

@@jin6089 if you want tears from k-on watch the behind the scenes where the actual VAs from the show spend weeks learning the songs from the anime to play for the VA for Azusa and she breaks down in tears
At first I thought Nozomi was the blue bird, because she seemed to be very cheerful and Mizore was Liz, because she was rather alone. But then I realized that the blue bird one was actually Mizore, because she suppressed her emotions and hid her actual talent so she could be with Nozomi and even go to the same uni. Nozomi then realizes this and lets Mizore express herself in music freely. Theoretically, if they would go to the same uni, Nozomi would become blue bird again since she wouldn't follow her actual dreams and be caged somewhere instead only to stick with Mizore.
I don't think Mizore suppressed her talent to be with Nozomi but rather, Mizore's expressiveness depends on her emotional state which is something she has to overcome as a pro musician, she'll have to find ways to motivate herself & be self-sufficient as an adult without Nozomi being around. Nozomi was the 1 who originally loved music but she previously quit in protest of previous band corruption but the setback left her feeling empty & her skills have also dulled. Miscommunication Cliches dominated their friendship since the schism.
One area this series truly excels at is the climatic performance scenes. Music is used by the characters as a powerful means of communicating their feelings to each other, sometimes feelings that can't be put into words, and here we have yet another climax that does not disappoint in that regard.

Yeah, there are only two types of oboe players: Your average nasal-toned oboe player in a high school band who picked up the instrument because the music needed an oboe player, and then the oboe players who are dedicated enough to have a tone as good as Mizore's.
Such a criminally underrated film, personally I think this perfectly captures anime's essence, every frame, movement and music is quintessential in the film, not a single one of them is wasted. All of it works as one to convey the message of relationship breaking apart and coming back together, and it is only possible to do so because it is an anime. If someone ask what is anime, this could be use as an textbook example. And in my personal opinion this movie rivals some of the best anime films out there

This might just be my favourite piece of animation
It is an indescribably beautiful song.
1:46 Short tribute (or is it?) to Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Another film about making bonds through synesthesia.

WTF I'M CRYING!
When i listene the this i got low key journey vibes it was just so calming and had that very whimsical feel that most journey songs had and it made me very nostalgic. Great movie btw 9/10 could be gayer
A song about to say goodbye to a dear friend .
It’s so Beautiful
I almost cried this is the best song ever it makes me want learn to play the oboe coz I play piano
Amazing movie ❤️😍
Keep Wondering where 8,2 score on MAL coming from (considering it's genre), when i finished watching it can't even argue with that score
At 2:22 the oboe almost seems to say "I love you"
i really wish there was some way to find the score, itd be so cool for my school band to play this!!
www.print-gakufu.com/score/detail/290435/ This contains both the full score and all seperate parts, but I'm not fluent in Japanese reading, so it's best to have some guidance from a Japanese speaker while considering this piece. Have fun!
Gila setiap nonton scene ini merinding cuy apalagi bagian oboe
its ia ao beautiful it make me so cawm
Man, I wish I could be that good of a flute player.
Practice :)
Me and my friend are trying it she's playing the flute and since we don't have an oboe Im going to do the oboe part so far its not bad just need to practice

I just saw the movie and mygod this made me cry and I don't even know anything about music
Its the power of music the author clearly put meaning into the music and
I cried.
I agree, this is beautiful! :)
Whaaaa how haven't I seen this before???
I finally realized what some of the bits sound like to me, some parts of jungle book.
Damn, I’m about to watch the Chikai but I’m itching to watch this first. Dhakvekabsjabs the emotions is too good, I’m crying 😭

#PrayForKyoAni
In 1:45, it gave some Titanic soundtrack flashbacks yoooo
its freaking the same people from Hibeki Euphonium
HOW DID I ONLY NOTICE NOW?!?!
Just leave me some Stardust to remember you by...
damn it! was the movie supposedly a teaser of a new season? cuz it played that way, shuichi is benched in kumiko's heart, new characters cried after losing and the fact that they lost?! though I must say they lost because of this piece, yes it's a pretty great piece but, it was too emotional for a contest. though goddamn mizore nailed every second of it!
2:27 My alarm.
