Very nicely compiled comparison. I'm still using P3dv4.5HF3 and now really tempted to upgrade to 5.2 What prevented me was that many of my add-ons may not work anymore in an upgraded version.

Hey dude, i've been in a doubt recently about this thing of upgrading from V4 to V5. I currently have a GTX 1650 with 16 gigs of ram running on my main computer, while my laptop has a 3050 Ti and 8 gigs of ram. Should I upgrade to V5 on my PC or just stick with v4.5 at the moment? Or just install it in my laptop?
I would really love to run V5 instead of V4.5, but the only problem I had with v5 the first time I installed it was VRAM usage. I had a GTX 1050 Ti prior to the current 1650 but, since they both have 4 gigs of vram, I don't think there's much difference in that aspect. So, what should I do?

Very Informative Video, I would like to know-how is the default terrain in P3D v5.1? Do you need ORBX to enhance the trees, buildings, grass, and scenery as in P3D v4? I don't want to invest in ORBX Vector or Global base, so does P3D V5 have enhance default scenery?

    • @ALL4AVIATION
      @ALL4AVIATION  3 года назад +1

Hey, thanks! I would say that terrain is very P3Dv4 look alike when talking about default textures, buildings and trees. Maybe the ORBX Global is needed if you want more immersive and colourful scenery. I personally do not have any of the ORBX stuff, but maybe I will install it in future. And apart from this many users say that ORBX Vector is not anymore needed in V5 as the main data was updated and the scenery is more occurate then in V4. When comparing V4 and V5 default scenery airports in Africa I found out that airport in V4 is almost few nautical miles apart from the airport which is in V5 (very strange but yep the V4 data was definitely outdated). So I think it is mostly up to you to decide if you will use any additional scenery addons or not depending on your desires.

How does v5.2 work with Orbx scenery which I currently use in v4.5? Also, is v5.2 compatible with Active Sky and Active Sky Cloud Art for P3D v4.5. At the moment it's all fine with P3D v4.5 but will I have to buy yet more software from Orbs and HiFi Simulations?

    • @ALL4AVIATION

Hey Ray! I did not install any of ORBX stuff onto v5.2 and probably will not even do it as I mainly use Photoscenery. But as far as I know few friends use ORBX terrain addons on v5.2 without a problem. And as when looking at ORBX website I can see that almost all global addons except ORBX Vector are also for V5. So I think you do not need to buy the addons once again. And in regard to the weather addons I use Active Sky with Active Sky P3D addon. This addon works in v4 as well as in v5. But at the moment there are still few problems with the weather generating on the Lochkeed Martins side and because of this Active Sky might not show the actual weather. They are on it and maybe they will fix it very soon. But in regard to Active Sky Cloud Art I can not help you as I do not know the addon either do not use it, sorry. Regards!

@@ALL4AVIATION No need to apologise. What you've said is good news. It's okay(ish) to pay for a new version of P3D but to pay again for all the add-ons would be a step too far. Like a lot of people right now, I'm somewhat disappointed with the latest update of MSFS and the so-called Hotfix so I think I'll go back to P3D for a few months and as I invested in a good computer to run MSFS, my last flight in P3D was exceptional. Admittedly, I don't fly airliners but cruising around in my RealAir Simulations Turbine Duke, JustFlight Arrow III and A2A 182 and Comanche my new setup regularly gives me great performance in P3D. Hey! It depends totally on your system and addons. It is true that I also have a large number of addons, but the real thing that you might not have is IVAO Multiplayer Traffic Library-MTL (used for displaying other online traffic on IVAO network) which consists of many different planes which simulator needs to "check" before starting up the sim. In V4 that was not optimised but now in V5 it takes only few moments to start even with MTL installed. Also other members with MTL had the same problem when starting up the sim (friend of mine have to wait 10 min before V4 starts up😅). Do you fly on IVAO or any other online platform?

@@PAPIREY7 I do not totally agree here. But perspective is from person to person. About P3D there are more good things than only the fog as of now I am using both simulators at the same time and V5 looks and woorks much smoother than V4. But the MSFS is still unusable at the moment, as there are no complex airlines and no world/airport scenery. Only the photoreal and weather looks good in MSFS but other things need to improve firstly. At the moment real simmers will stay on P3D and Xplane thrust me. I will probably also go to MSFS but only when things improve, that means when I will have a reliable Airbus A320 and at least few airport sceneries in my region.

Unfortunatelly there is no addons which are high-level based like in P3D (FSlabs, Majestic, PMDG) or even Xplane. At the moment the scenery looks nice but there still are mistakes in orthophoto and also custom buildings are missing all over some countries. I will buy the MSFS but only when it develops to the point when it will be flyable like it is P3D or Xplane. That is my personal opinion and of course anybody has his own.

You haven't a clue - MSFS is the kids game.

@@ALL4AVIATION Well PMDG's DC-6 is here and A2A is already working on something. Not sure what you mean "only graphics". For the last 20 years we have always been choosing the base simulator for its graphics and then choosing good quality add-on planes. I too refrained from MSFS for the lack of good add-on planes, but now that at least one is here everything else looks obsolete. Kindest regards and thanks for the video.

@@johnpap9328 Hey! Thanks for the comment I really appreciate your feedback!
By meaning only graphics are better I can say from my perspective that the 3D modeling (more complex objects can be made without FPS hit), draw distance (better adjustments for autogen drawing compared to other simulators) and the lightning/textures/shadows are quite good.
I also consider graphics as the base of the simulator but I personally give priority to aircraft addons firstly. I am also a student pilot and I want to have the airplane that behaves as it should.
Maybe as you say A2A will be adding some great aircraft in near future and also the Fenix A320 is promising for me. Will see how the progress goes. So far I haven't tried the sim by myself (but I intend to try it out very soon) but I have only viewed streams and I got few reviews from my friends.
Will see what the future brings to the simulator.
      Enjoy your flights ;P

@@ALL4AVIATION I understand how you feel. It's the same reason I bought it on day one and then gave up for a year anticipating good airplanes. For now I'm more than happy with my DC-6. Also, I took some of the tours that come as missions with the sim and I think that they have also worked on the vanilla airplanes too. I mean I don't remember having to use the rudder pedals to make coordinated turns a year ago. Well they're not up to par with A2A and others but they're good enough for default airplanes. Happy landings!

P3dv5 is crap. they have made the sky so hazy it is pointless having good terrain because you can't see it.

In my opinion that was needed as this is also happening in real life. Especially in winter time when I fly in real life you will occasionally see haze in a distance and above the terrain.
