@@RetroGameCorps Hi, I really love your videos. Interesting and highly informative. Just received my 351 in the mail 2 days ago and immediately put all my own ROMS in the SD card, all nes, snes, genesis and 64. However, on all the new rims I have no way of exiting a game, performing a save state or anything other than playing a game. Pressing the 2 joysticks does nothing, pressing start and select at the same time or pressing start and a does nothing. I love this little device but if I can’t effectively exit a game or save a game then what’s the point?? Any ideas?? Thank you so much for all your help
I'm doing exactly that for my sister. She's going thru a rough time and basically the other day told me she will play Tumblepop all day if she had "something like that" (I was showing her my RP2). So I got her a RG351p, put 351ELEC with brand new sd, and now I'm scrapping the art, so I can give it to her next week :)
The audio jack and charging placement is perfect. I lay down and rest this on a big pillow on my stomach for perfect comfort when playing for hours on end.
My unit is on the way so I am here by the will of search engines. Dude I have seen and done a whole lot of tech presentations in my life. I just want to tell you that you are very good at it. And all of this was digested by you and streamlined for the "average user". No word salads, no meaningless deep dives and a lot of reference material for the curious mind. This tutorial is very good. Haha, that is the best compliment I've heard today! So funny story, I actually got the new iPhone to take better videos, but then I accidentally filmed everything for this video in its default HDR setting. So I spent all day color grading the whole footage by hand, and it looks worse than before! I do have a tripod on order, so hopefully I can make more improvements soon :)
I've been playing PlayStation 1: Suikoden on my RG351P for the last 4 days. It's flawless. I take breaks and play Mario Kart 64 and working on getting a zero star win on Mario 64 with save states. The save states are so fast. It's perfect for grinding on RPGs or any game
I just got one. The only thing I don't like is the small size of the device and the small screen . It cramps my hand as I have bigger hands...it still works really well and has TONS of games. I got a 128GB version with over 17k games on it. Basically every game I ever played as a kid in the 80s and 90s. I'll wait about 2-3 years and one should come out that has like a 5-6 inch screen, 720p and plays up to GameCube games. That will be my next upgrade.
Very useful, I got mine recently and was really frustrated why almost none of the systems would play properly! Not very user friendly, there's so many settings, so this video was really useful!

Just had a quick 10.mins with it out of the box, quick play of Mario Kart 64 which seems fine enough for me at the moment. Comes with the OTG WiFi dobgle thingy and all looks good. Will definitely be coming back to check out your videos on this, you explain it all so well.
Still catching up with your great guides, made the suggested changes including changing hotkeys to quit back to the main menu. Also changed the video settings for SNES, Gameboy and Megadrive and they all look so much better.

@@RetroGameCorps Thanks ,will do ! There's a lot to be told about this device. Im kinda sad I just now found out about the 351M being out but nevertheless first impressions on this device are very good though, such good build quality (with the standard firmware still, have to figure out connecting to it, havent got a SD reader around)
Thanks for all the efforts you have put in these videos. You convinced me to get 351P and its on its way to me :). I am kinda new to this things and I wonder if anywhere I can find all those games and new ones to come other than games included in the device ? or you just shared that info in one of your videos and I missed it. Thanks anyway for your hardwork !!!
Something that happened to me when I did this process was that I used a sandisk micro usb card reader, it pretty much made it so whenever I flashed the OS onto the hardrive the other partition would not be read at all, so I would only have a 0.99 gig card. My work around was getting the Anker disk reader Retro Gme Corps used, then going into the disk management section and extending the volume of the closed partition to be used for the games (This took me a few days of trial and error but got it to work) I hope this helps anyone else, but this might've been just a me problem.
I’m so confused. I’ve been at this for an hour and am frustrated with myself. I just bought a new micro sd yesterday but there’s no partitions on it and I don’t know how to make any. I’ve been wanting to get into the retro handheld community for so long but any time I try anything like this I never do it right even when I follow the instructions step by step
Very informative video, you just got a new subscriber. I have a question though! What if I don’t do any of this, will the device still work? Are the games gonna be playable? Thank you in advance
Hey there! Great video! Just wondering... My kid says that he pressed the center of the DPAD one time and now is says "no entries". Did he wipe the SD card by accident? Should I get a card reader to see if he did then follow your instructions to flash new firmware etc.? We do not have the Wifi version of this device. We have the RG351P without WiFi. Help is appreciated. Thanks!
Love your videos! Got an rg351p after watching this set up video. I also want to purchase the Retroid Pocket 2 now. Would you ever consider doing a similar set up guide video for the RP2?
I think I'm past the point of doing RP2 videos. I just don't find myself using the device enough to be able to speak authoritatively about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So everytime i remove my sd card i lose all saved files in my games. I only do this to move newly obtained ROMs over. Is there an easier way to do this without messing with my saves?
Hello Russ, would I be able to transfer/and backup my roms from the shipped china SD card to a sandisk 128 on my Acer Chromebook spin 311 without any issues? Thank you for the detailed help👍🏾
I always have issues with arcade, final burn alpha, and Neo Geo… Is the updated firmware with Fios flashtaking care of that? So it is basically just drag and drop your games and things “should“ work?
Arcade games run really well, as long as you load the specific romset for the console. I'm often surprised at how well it works. Here is my arcade guide: retrogamecorps.com/2020/10/29/rg351p-arcade-games-guide/
I followed these steps, but after burning your image, I do not have access to the games or storage partitions. I only see the emuele partition in windows explorer. It is visible in the disk genius app as "Games (2)" Fat32 and "Storage (1)" EXT4, but they are not accessible in any other way. What did I do wrong?
I want to save my game in mario. I tried it with dra stic "safe state" but I dont understand how and ingame is no feature to safe ist , any advise for me ?
Hi guys, as a newbie user without any Linux experience I've got a RG351MP device today. I made some setting changes in EmuElec Emulationstation, for example set the language to Hungarian. Since that time the main menu (START button) of the EmuElec has only two options: Information and Exit. I can not enter into the settings anymore. Please help me!
You need to do a "graceful shutdown" when using a save game with RetroArch. So after saving your game, press L3+R3 to open the RetroArch Quick Menu, and then select "Close Content". That will make sure your save game works.
I have been taking a pause on guides for the RP2 because I've been waiting on the Android 8 update...but now that October has come and gone, I might have to just start working on it with the current Android 6 build :(
My problem is that i flash image to a sandisk 256gig card and put the card into my 351p. but when i put the card into my PC it shows only the E: partition and no F; Games partition. what format was the SD card suppose to have ie fat or exfat ?
Hey I lost my USB thing for wifi and I really want to update my rg351p but I can't update it and also in the missing bio it's missing a bunch of games like it doesn't have super Mario 64 which I'm very sad about because I would of loved to played it do you think you can sell the USB wifi thing so maybe if I update it it'll give the games it was missing
You know if it's possible to get it online without the adaptor (such as using a usb c cable?) or download stuff to add to it without an online connection? i wanna get drastic, themes, doom, etc. but i have the non-wifi version.
Great video! I intend on getting a device just for handheld emulation: GB/GBC/GBA, Neo Geo Pocket/Pocket Color, Sega Game Gear and WonderSwan/WonderSwan Color. I will use configurations like the ones you used for Game Boy: No filters, core provided aspect ratio and most likely integer scale. With this in mind, I would like to ask you, on your opinion, which device delivers the best/crispiest visuals for the platforms I talked about: The RG351P or the RG350M with its 640x480 screen? Adventure Island for Game Boy looks really crisp on your video from 13:22 onwards, but I'm wondering if it would look even better on the 350M, because of the higher resolution. Thank you in advance!
Hi, without a doubt, games made for 4:3 aspect ratio look better on the RG350M. So NES, SNES, GB/GBC, and PS1 all look wonderful on the RG350M. GB/GBC actually allows for 3x scaling on the 350M while you only get 2x scaling on the RG351P. Performance is much better on the RG351P, which can make a significant difference on PS1. I would say that WonderSwan and GBA look better on the RG351P due to its aspect ratio, but everything else will look better on the RG350M. If you're not looking for heavy-duty systems then the RG350M might be the better choice for you.
Hi how do I set up autofire I have rg350p the X and Y is autofire by default but in rg351p when I going to game by default the X and Y is no function. Thanks
hey friend how do i download these videos that appear in the game before selecting , and I can only pass files over wifi, is there any way to pass with the cable like the rg350?
Nice video. Doing the scraping now for 2547 games. My console is making a really weird noise when I'm using the WiFi dongle though. It sounds like an old 2-bit speaker that you had on an old PC from 1989 or something. It really sounds retro haha. Does yours also make this sound?
Yes, that’s the signal noise that Anbernic was trying to avoid by removing the internal WiFi chip, it still happens with a dongle. You can shield the right speaker wire with foil and electrical tape to dampen the sound, if you’d like. I have a video for it: retrogamecorps.com/2020/10/11/how-to-fix-rg351p-internal-wifi-antenna-audio-issues/
I have a lot of trouble trying to flash the new sd card on MacOs, for some reason the ApplePi Baker just flashes the EMUELEC drive but the GAMES drive is nowhere to be found, I have tried to partition the ssd card manually but i have failed many times, do you have a video for mac?
Great instructions thanks! One question just to clarify before I buy - does following this procedure mean that the psp and other games will play flawlessley (without the glitches other reviewers have mentioned) or is it mainly just to load games that you want as opposed to the games that come preloaded?
PSP, N64, DS, and Dreamcast will never run flawlessly on this device, it just doesn't have the power for those systems. Most games run, and a bunch will run well, but they are definitely compromises. I think in a couple years we'll have devices that can chew up those systems with no problem, but we're not there yet. This guide will mostly let you get the most out of the device -- better user interface, screen configuration, etc.
great video bro, it's really helpful and very clear. I have a cuestion for you about the save states, they didn't work properly. i can't save and load any of them. please can you give any recommendation?
When you buy a new SD card how do you get the preloaded stuff onto the new one? What is kept on the existing SD card the whole system and the menus or just the roms for the games? Very new to this stuff and making sure I understand everything before I buy one. Your guides are great I’ve been watching all of them.
Hi, when you buy a new card and flash a new firmware onto it, it won't preserve anything. So if you want to keep your games (and especially those BIOS files!) you will want to move them over from the old card to the new card. It's always a good idea to keep the old card handy in case you want to pull a game or BIOS file from it.
You are sure to rapidly gain new subscribers, because you are putting together clear, informative videos. Nice work.
Thank you, glad that you find them helpful! :)

Same with me. I have not figured this out. So the ssd will go in the trash and I will enjoy the games that came with it for now.
Are all these RG351P tutorial also applicable to the 351M since the device is basically the same but in another casing?
I also need to know this im tryna clone the sd it came with and im havin a hard ass time i literally dragged errythin in to the sd and it got issues
13:55 Thank you. I though mine was broken.
It's such an easy mistake to make...I'm glad you found that part helpful!
Wow this guide is awe! Getting my gba colored one this week. So the skraper also downloads videos too??
Yep, it will download little preview videos (about 8MB each), it really makes it a nice experience to scroll through.
@@RetroGameCorps dos everithing like the vídeo but vídeos wont play.. do you have any clue to help me?
Great Video! Very helpful. Greatings from Germany .Sub is on!
Thanks for the sub!
Very informative video, you just got a new subscriber. I have a question though! What if I don’t do any of this, will the device still work? Are the games gonna be playable? Thank you in advance
I have a problem where I can SAVE a State but when I go to Load State nothing happens although it says it's loaded.. Any ideas? Thank you
Thanks!
Adding cheats was my deal maker
Same - it's such a pain to implement cheats on standalone emulators, and this RetroArch feature is just so universally easy.
My RG351P is on the way and i cant wait to play it🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🙂🙂🙂🤣🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹
Love your videos! Got an rg351p after watching this set up video. I also want to purchase the Retroid Pocket 2 now. Would you ever consider doing a similar set up guide video for the RP2?
I think I'm past the point of doing RP2 videos. I just don't find myself using the device enough to be able to speak authoritatively about it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
hey! thanks for the video!
i seem to get "access denied" after i enter the password (emuelec) in winSCP is there something i'm missing?
So everytime i remove my sd card i lose all saved files in my games. I only do this to move newly obtained ROMs over. Is there an easier way to do this without messing with my saves?
I didn't get a dongle or anything apart from a charge cable.. From Bangood??
Nice video thanks. Is there a way to Watch videos or listen music on the rg351p with original fw
Hello Russ, would I be able to transfer/and backup my roms from the shipped china SD card to a sandisk 128 on my Acer Chromebook spin 311 without any issues? Thank you for the detailed help👍🏾
How to save game?! Didn’t work when i did 😩
I always have issues with arcade, final burn alpha, and Neo Geo… Is the updated firmware with Fios flashtaking care of that?
I just got my unit in and I’m trying to change the game like you said but I don’t see ya R3 or L3
L3 and R3 are when you click down on the analog sticks.
@@RetroGameCorps Thank you work perfectly I can’t wait to set it up like you said
I want to save my game in mario. I tried it with dra stic "safe state" but I dont understand how and ingame is no feature to safe ist , any advise for me ?
Hi guys,
as a newbie user without any Linux experience I've got a RG351MP device today. I made some setting changes in EmuElec Emulationstation, for example set the language to Hungarian. Since that time the main menu (START button) of the EmuElec has only two options: Information and Exit. I can not enter into the settings anymore. Please help me!
how come my save dont work? im playing xenogears on ps1 but my game resets everytime i close it
You need to do a "graceful shutdown" when using a save game with RetroArch. So after saving your game, press L3+R3 to open the RetroArch Quick Menu, and then select "Close Content". That will make sure your save game works.
@@RetroGameCorps noted. Gonna try it out. Ty sir for the reply
This was incredibly detailed! Do you plan to do a video like this but for the Retroid Pocket 2?
I have been taking a pause on guides for the RP2 because I've been waiting on the Android 8 update...but now that October has come and gone, I might have to just start working on it with the current Android 6 build :(
My problem is that i flash image to a sandisk 256gig card and put the card into my 351p. but when i put the card into my PC it shows only the E: partition and no F; Games partition.
what format was the SD card suppose to have ie fat or exfat ?
It's so fast... Way better than my X9
You have convinced me to buy this! Quick question though where is a good place to buy it from?
Here are my recommended places: retrogamecorps.com/shop/
Are you going to be doing a version of this for the RG351V?
Yes, but will probably wait until there is custom firmware available.
I tried to use Disk Genius and when I try to resize partion the games file it ruined my micro sd.
same here
I have a lot of trouble trying to flash the new sd card on MacOs, for some reason the ApplePi Baker just flashes the EMUELEC drive but the GAMES drive is nowhere to be found, I have tried to partition the ssd card manually but i have failed many times, do you have a video for mac?
Where do you get all the games/Emulators from?
