Why pay that much for a axe/hatchet when you can buy a cheap one for less than 50 bucks and put any edge you want with angle grinders or a sharpening file and a vice it just baffles me you're paying for twice the price of one i got my hatchet from the hardware store it had a very thick edge right off the bat but than i sharpened it with a angle grinder for less than half a hour and i put a razor edge on it did some light and sandpaper scratches to the edge so it smoothens it out and bunch of straps through leather belt the end result was a perfect razor edge cutted like butter and for those saying "u get better quality steel from grandfors bruks" I haven't sharpened my hatchet for an entire year it cuts like butter and still cuts paper like a razor blade i just dont get it why pay so much for a hatchet or axe when you get the same performance from less than half an hour and 20-30 bucks is all u pay for it feels like ur just paying for the brand not the axes
@@Dav624idk what your quoted portion did to discredit the argument about steel quality? Different steels have different qualities logically making them better at different things. It’s a fact. You saying that your lower steel quality axe holds an edge for a long time doesn’t hold weight like the science does
It also depends on the style of camping you do. If you need to hike to your campsites, and carry everything you need, a good hatchet is important. If you "car camp", however, we found that hatchets are inherently dangerous. For car camping, when wood splitting was a major component, we switched to wedges and a maul.
ive used the older friskars models hundreds of times they get dull real quick but are super light honestly get the newer one but friskars in general are solid but need tons of maintenance
As for the handle, I prefer a wooden handle. I was a carpenter for many years and swear by wooden hammers. Height and weight are also very important. nice offer
You right bro I'm a Carpenter too for 20 + years I'm 42 Weight and height is important and also depends the size of the person who gonna used and for what
No, people that make videos like this typically have no clue what they’re talking about, they find products online from other peoples ranking list and they record videos of themself reading the generic description of said product.
After reading all the updates: The best times for Gransfors Bruks are gone, using recycled steel with unknown mixtures, less quality craftsmanship, overpriced, overrated ... there are much better companies on the market.

This comes off as AI written. Which is dangerous for when deciding the quality of sharp tools.
