Brilliant James. Thanks for all you do mate. My Broadcasting dreams would likely not ever come true without you and your amazing help. God bless, Brother.
We have some guides available on this! You need licenses from both PPL and PRS - both can be purchased online and are relatively easy to sign up for and maintain. Hope that helps!
@@AudioInsider_YT Thanks James - yup, I’ve had a read at the guides, but I’m clearly not as clever as I thought I was. I simply don’t understand it and can’t work out what the costs will be. More research required on my part.
@@alanfindlayviewfromtherock6200 its all depends from where you broadcasting and to where. UK laws very clear cheap and easy. Some EU country laws are more difficult and messed up. For example in Cyprus where i live there is no license needed to run an online radio. Cool, BUT there is no license exist for music copyright here for online radio. So basically i can run one here in Cyprus but its 50/50 legal and illegal because i cant get music license because its not exist in Cyprus for this category.
@@bencecyprus 10 months on for me and still I have no clarity on costs from our UK based people at PPL and PRS. I have tonnes of info, all conflicting and none of it making any sense. It's as if it's designed to put people off, which to be fair it has in my case. I want to keep on the side of regulation, but it's just too unclear. What I don't get is how folk can 'broadcast' live on Tik Tok with absolutely no need to pay their dues. Time to give up on this I think.
I really like the idea of a radio station but podcasting has knocked this out of the park for most people. No worries about licensing music as the platforms already have licences. 365radio tried to make this simpler but an online radio station is too expensive to launch initially and we are better off doing podcasts on Spotify or Apple. Would love you to correct me on this James as I am really interested but looking at a huge money pit with radio sadly.
Great stuff! Having the right equipment is important, but knowing your audience is even moreso! Remember to download my 5 step checklist at jamesm.com/radio where I outline the common mistakes people make - so you can avoid them and have the best chance at success! best of luck 😄
I rock at Zoom L-8 but I’ve thought of building my own station at my school site or just launching a vinyl DJ channel. I have mics for days and just podcasting with friends. But might need to take a look and actually plan this out and then dive in.

Hi James! First time viewer. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on getting started in the radio world! I have one recommendation, and I'm not sure if it's my place, but please make sure your shot doesn't cut off the top of your head. It's very distracting!
Internet radio broadcasting, similar to podcasting. Using Internet broadband to share your radio station. Does not need FCC registration/regulations. Air (am / fm) radio broadcasting, requires FCC regulations
Hello, what can I use to start my live internet radio? I have a MacBook Pro & iPhone 13. I want to play music and talk in between each song without the 10 second delay as I talk?????? What can I broadcast services should I use to do that🤔🤔🤔🤔💭
@@AudioInsider_YT Will it have the delay when I talk? The last 2 I tried had the delay when I talked. I would hear what I said like 5 or 8 seconds later.... Thanks
I want to make a radio station because all the good music is gone and it’s just trash pop as always. Do you think there’s I’ll run into any copyright stuff like RUclips does? Or is that just RUclips?
The same check list that thousands of people have downloaded? No scams here, just useful information. There is a reason why we have thousands of radio stations running on our platform and have a team of 40 members of staff! If we were in any way trying to 'scam' people - trust me, there are MUCH easier ways to go about it!
