Alternates between dreadful (good kind) and very mundane. Serious, consistent level of dread for me, but it took me two nights to finish because I kept falling asleep. It hit some kind of nerve, and brought back some deep-seated anxious feelings. I think that's a lot of what I hear from other folks as well. They felt childhood fears resurfacing when watching this. Very mixed feelings, though. I'd never really felt anything like it when watching a movie, but there was not enough there to justify that runtime, imo. I totally get why some folks find it uncomfortably familiar and terrifying, while others can't understand why anyone would be scared. I'm in the middle. Glad I watched it, interested in this director's future, but will probably never watch this again. Most folks I see online seem to hate it, so I'm interested to hear y'alls take.
Chris and I were divided on this one. Please tell us what you thought about this movie?
