It takes a tremendous amount of time to properly cleanup the old wire and install the new wiring. Of course that involves opening and closing necessary crevices. I just spent a lot of time installing two new units and a vhf radio. The result is beautiful because i am fussy.
Just purchased the Elite T12 , I have a Lund SS adventure series 18 foot Deep V. The unit I bought has the 3 in 1 transducer. My buddy thought I needed to also have a hull Transducer so it reads the depth when I am running on the water? Also when hooking up my Transducer how should I mount that in correlation to the existing Transducer that’s already there? Do I need a different mounting location closer to the bottom of the boat? Any help would be appreciated.
Connecting an HDS 12 Live to the front should the yellow wire be connected to the Active Target unit I'm also installing up front? Question, wouldn't you be better off for a longer time if all your connections were soldered?
Change that bilge plug while your at it. This boats looking for havoc when the plug get's pulled by wood. Put a new pull in place plug on a cable that can be opened or closed at the drivers seat. You think?
How about NMEA connections - will rev. 3's / live work with HDS Rev. 2 units? How can I find out of my antenna is dead. I put two on the boat, the front one now has no control of the front units on the boat. Did it die? How can I test it.
Will the HDS live(are they rev. 3/4/or 5) for sale now, be able to hook up and share waypoints with a rev. 2. Getting ready to redo my '96 Skeeter, have been running Rev. 2 HDS 12 / 9 and other goodies. Why is everyone out of inventory until March on HDS units and the Active Target.
I hear you can fracture transducer cables with zip ties when attaching wire to trolling motor shafts. Shouldn't you do that attaching the transducer cable with Scotch Super 33+ electrical tape? It also stops fishing line with 12 lbers attached getting hung up on Zip ties when they last minute run around the trolling motor?
Do the HDS Live 12" units not need the directional GPS compass module? I didn't see you attach a puck to this boat. Sitting still this unit will search and swing around like crazy showing current location in mapping, or will it?
Does Lowrance agree that running a large 6-10 gauge supply wire through the boat to insure all the electronics are getting a clean real 12 volt supply? Rear to console and on up to the front?
I just watched this entire webinar. Obviously I am a year late (at least). All comments are 1 yo. I just performed an upgrade to my boat. Installed a 12”Live at the helm and moved a 7” carbon to the bow. I chase walleye more than anything so the 12 Live will be more beneficial to me at the helm. That was a decent install you guys just did, but there was a few things I’d have done a little differently. For starters I NEVER drill holes in the hull of my boat for transducers. And I mean NEVER. It’s 2022, in this videos case 2021, but I know for a fact they now have mounting boards available and some really REALLY serious epoxies or flies one can use to mount those boards with - to the hull of the boat. Then you can screw the ducer mounts to the board. No drill installs makes papa happy. And you mentioned 8 gauge power leads but didn’t install them ??? Either way, I’ve installed all of my equipment myself. 12” Live 7” carbon, XI5 motorguide, Point 1 heading sensor, NMEA 2k and Ethernet. Will be looking to add a Ghost next year hopefully and upgrading the 7” carbon to a 9” Live at the bow. Mama says I spent too much this year on you guys lol.
Yeah when I am snowed in in southern Missouri it would be nice to get my active target that I ordered on December 7th so I could install it on my boat before my tournaments start in March. Garmin is looking better and better. Keep up the horrible customer service and more will follow me to other brands
That was a great install Jacob! I learned a ton. Thank you!
we're happy it helped ;-)
Great time for a project like this. Also a great topic.
When you have a lot of extra wire should you cut it and splice it? Or bundle it and wire tie it all together.

Perfect. Do you know when will comes the new model HDS live?
We have no updates about new products releases.

What transducer did you put on the back of this boat? The 3 in 1?

Can the active target be used with the HDS 7 gen 3 units? I have these for the front of my boat?
No, ActiveTarget is not compatible with HDS Gen 3. It is only compatible with Elite FS, HDS Live and HDS Carbon.

What gauge wire do you use when connecting to the battery

You talked about it, did you pull a BIG POWER wire through this boat?
How does one work for lowrance?
Doesn't that boat need an Ultrex? Mine did!

Really appreciate the installation, next time get the lighting a little better. Hard to see all that you were doing.
Your wife asks you alot of questions. Did you just get married recently?
