      Antoinette Gabriel it is, but there’s been a ton of growth these past few years. Kerry Washington kind of led the charge with scandal, then TPH, then Viola Davis, and a few more. It’s great seeing more more black and brown faces on screen.

      @@SeanSpencerr Yes! Kerry Washington is my favorite. Zoe Saldana is one of my favorite actresses too (even though I think she's said some questionable things). I'm so happy that people are starting to see that ethnic people have so much talent, and that we can be in Sci-fi, action, and mainstream movies. For so long we were limited to slave movies, "hood dramas", and Tyler Perryesque movies. While they add to our culture, we can do so much more than that.

      Antoinette Gabriel well spike lee has been doing way more than that for over 30 years.
      Plus things like “Hood movies” are goodfellas and The Godfather for white ppl. Why are they allowed to elevate their gangster movies but black folks can’t?
      I don’t like Tyler perry movies but I’ve seen plenty of similar movies by white ppl become classics.
      I think we’re usually really unfair to black artists and undervalue the art that represents us but elevate others. Mainstream just means white ppl hold it up as special too and I don’t think that’s necessary for great art.

    • @antoinettemur
      @antoinettemur 5 лет назад +5

      @@iansmart4158 Oh no, I totally agree. That's why I said those types of movies add to the culture because those are things we experience everyday. I just feel that we've been put in a box and the world thinks that's all we can do. Why have there only been a hand full of ethnic superhero movies? Why can't we have more sci-fi movies with ethnic characters as the lead. As a kid, and even now, I love sci-fi and it's disappointing that it's hard to find characters that look like me in mainstream movies. For me it's about representation and giving other people the opportunity to have the level of success as white actors.

    Regina Hall - shaving story - followed by the talking about how shame is created by feeling lonely. With your story I felt less lonely! Thank you!

    These women could have had their own interviews. Wow. I'd like to hear from Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Natasha Lyonne on their own. I mean, those shows are intense and favorites.

    Phoebe owns the round table. Wow, the way she explains her trip through her peaks and valleys really pulls you in. Difficult to disconnect from this roundtable so long as she's talking.

    This is the best episode. I took notes on how to be an amazing woman,friend,heroes to each other. Right on ladies. Much respect to all of you. You all have opened my eyes to so many conversations to have with my circle. Thank you.

    Jane Fonda talks the least n said the most profound things. I actually cried during her how they 'relate to their characters' segment.

    This is one of my favorite ones I think! There’s so much respect and balance between all of them getting to answer, and their personalities all gel perfectly so they’re having fun, and also the answers are all so amazing and in depth. I love these ladies and the work they’re doing. Plus seeing people bonding irt and the relationships already formed prior to this is one of my fav parts, lol.

    "Nobody's making a show about a female stand up comic"
    Alex Borstein: 😐

      asapound yeah but haddish’s will be very very different hers will also be about family! So no one is doing that! Very different!

      @@AdamC2013 Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is all about her dealing with her family and marriage while trying to pursue standup comedy as a woman. I'm not saying it won't be different, but every storyline Haddish brought up had already been done in Maisel. It was rude of her not to have watched at least some of Maisel to get to know a bit more about her fellow interviewees.

      @@sebastiano728 Do you really think they all sat and watched The Last OG? Seriously doubtful. MMM is also a period piece, it is set in the past. Tiffany was essentially talking about making a TV show about her life as a comedian now. Both being female comedians would be where the similarities ended.

  • @JohnnyRoss
    @JohnnyRoss 5 лет назад +82

    Tiffany sitting next to Alex Borstein: “There’s no show on TV about a female comedian, and how hard it is to come up in a boys club.”
    : the exact plot of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel...

    • @Nairah912
      @Nairah912 5 лет назад +22

      But what Tiffany is saying is simply an extension of what Regina is saying. MMM is not going to be the same for her in the 60s and actually if we’re talking about the plot in today’s world, it’ll be completely different because there’s more factors that come into play.

      Found this video far too late but glad someone else said this. It felt like a slap in the face to Alex. Akin to "so you don't watch my show?"

    THIS conversation was EXCELLENT!! I learned so much. And all the way at the end when they spoke about kinda pretending to be a girl, not feeling sure about how to do it? I finally DON’T feel so much like an odd duck. 😁😁😁
