You guys have built an amazing first time jet boat! I agree with the pump tuning, that will make a world of a difference getting the combo to work to its potential. Also, I have a feeling ya'll will find 70+mph in the next year, once you get their please start wearing life jackets! Those little jets will pitch you right into the gunnel if they lose an engine at a certain speed
@Barry Allen no its not lol. The pumps at its limit and the hulls arent designed for top speed. If they manage to get it to 70mph it will take alot more power or a much better pump
@@Jacobtheunwise if they had a pump setup to get it up and out of the water, the engine/pump doesnt really care about the hull that's on top. But you're right, not designed for high speeds. Once they get going fast enough then they're one failure away from the boat making a sharp turn while they get ejected. But still amazing build either way, just want em to be safe!
@@Jacobtheunwise I am not so sure it will be that much harder to go much faster, they still can turn up this engine a good bit more and a fully built K series is up to 3-4 times stronger than this. They have a LONG way to go before they run out of power. And i am sure they have planned it out somewhat with the pump guys for that. But whatever happens it will be a fun journey to see what happens with Cleetus and the boyz one upping each other. What i am wondering is how fast can these hulls even possible go before they just goes airborne and flips? I guess we'll see about that and I second that wish to see them using some protection.
2° wedge on the pump, bigger impeller, bigger fuel pump and cool the waste gate, I'm betting you would push 80+ mph. Once the pump is pushing back instead of up, you'll be much more efficient. Great job so far gents.
Actually for speed, you want a little bit of chop, to break the surface tension and the boundary layer to the bottom of the boat by letting some air go under it. "Glass" water kind of makes the boat "stick" to the water and slows it down some.

My thoughts exactly. Been boating for over50 years and wouldn't get in a boat without a fire extinguisher! The only thing worse than fire on a boat is sinking!
Definitely need to start wearing a life jacket in that beast and get a nice mount for the fire extinguisher and get an auxiliary battery for the other side and some stereo

Cleet will have a jet sprint boat in 2023 that’ll be way faster than kyles boat. And Kyle will buy a jet sprint boat after driving Cleetus’ and put a 1000hp built K series in one of them. I’d bet on it.
Awesome set up so far! Probably help a lot changing the impeller but also would help a tremendous amount if you could get some more trim out of it which will help it lift.
Positive pressure the engine compartment with a digital thermo fan placeing on the frount of the engine cover between the rear seats and a cover with an opening at the bottom. We have had to do this with 475hp diesel engines to stop them from cracking cylinder 1.
Love this build, the battle between you and Cleetus is going to be epic! I woild like to see you import a Thai Longtail boat to see what it will do compared to a jet ski,etc. It finally dawned on me why they all use diesels. No gearbox.
Not all of them use diesels but a lot of them do. I seen a video of a guy that said the fastest boat they had wasn’t diesel but the diesel was still deadly fast and sounds/looks cool to boot
If you're going to keep squeezing more and more power out of the jet boat you need to squeeze about 5° to 10° more angle of downward trim on your nozzle adjustment. Also wouldn't hurt to file down the steering stops to get just a bit more angle to help keep it under control with more power. If you're going to add the larger steeper impeller into the jet drive you also have to add a larger grate as well otherwise you will cavitate the crap out of the pump especially with the shallow available trim adjustment.....
Trimming the Jet drive up so the water shots up cool, but Jet drive isn't all suction. Just think if the water being shot up is being shot lower at the water line? You pick up more speed. This will help because trimming doesn't seem to raise the bow up at all. Find the sweet spot. Try a 2" increase in impeller pitch.

Hey I was at PRI with my company, we had the green shockr foxbody in the pro systems booth. I didnt know the truck was going and was very surprised to see it in person. great job on the truck wyatt i cant wait to see it rip down the street.
Don't forget the regular required safety boat items! Throw able floatation device, life jackets for yall passengers, flares, extinguisher etc.... I know you usually ride rivers and swamps that are 2 ft deep but you never know... cheers! The hatch did amazing at cleetus spect. drags.
If you plan on keeping the boats tune turned up or you plan to keep turning it up I would atleast put an engine diaper on the oil pan to keep everything contained just in case it does huck a rod it's important that It doesn't shoot a rod through the bottom of the boat and then that opens up a whole new set of problems

As a Kiwi and being luckily enough to grow up around jet boats and river racing, this is fucking awesome, was mainly always 302s or 350 chevs used but I'm going to share this around in hopes people think differently when they build their next boat for the season. We've used various V6s and V8s and only ever saw the odd rare turbo or 4cylinder boat. One guy did it with a Subaru WRX motor and the thing used to clean up until V8 fuel tech caught up.
Have to think that there's a lot of torque left on the table as fast as its getting to the full RPM. Really need to change that impeller and add that pitch to take advantage of the power but I wonder how much of an issue cavitation will be with the way that K Series can break loose of the water. Its an inevitable issue and am interested to see what kind of solutions there are to keep the boost in check when that impeller starts making steam. Its definitely trimmed better with Wyatt in the boat, need to dig those old sand bags from the MR2 and shove those pillowcases up in the bow.

Yes but also no. That’s definitely making enough power for some speed in a fast hull but I love the abuse that this rig can take. The jet boat river ride videos in places like New Zealand and Alaska sold me on these jet boats years ago.
In case anyone has a crv with the k24a1 and wanting a coil cover, they do fit even though the website doesn’t mention a k24a1. All you have to do is remove the 2 stud bolts for coil packs & replace with normal bolts without studs.
one thing you could still do is build a low wide and custom made tank sitting under the floor underneath the seats , it should balance the boat better no matter how mush fuel is in it and its out of the way of the hot parts on the engine the only thing i can think of is that the tank can spring a leak if you start running over treetrunks and stuff causing the bottom to flex and hit the tank another option would be a tank above the floor under the front seats replace the seat raisers with a tank across the boat and now we wait for jh diesel to build one with a light fast running diesel maibe a vw tdi or sumting like it (cummins probable be too heavy for a boat that size unless he uses the 4 cilinder version out of a backhoe or sumting )
All you need to do to that thing to go faster is weld a raised pad onto the bottom...and a scoop at the back for the water into the pump...... that should get it up out of the water for some real speed.. google hydrostream boats and look at the pads that are molded into the bottoms of the hulls... or any other high performance boat. Also a little chop is a good thing , less surface drag on the hull.
I love this Boat!!! I want to see what happens when you let it just sit a 8K RPM! Put in that Type S Oil pump, some roods, pistons, and just let this boat eat! I want to see 70MPH!!! Maybe add the Piston Oil Squirters back in and a oil cooler?

60+ is Moving in a mini.... my 10 foot Jetstream tops out at 40 and I haven't felt much need to go faster. Love to see y'all making progress with this 🤘
Awesome work, love the jet boat videos, but if you broach it you will get thrown out hard. Life jackets might save you. Plus I would look at some padding for around the windows. I was in a race boat when it broached and it was brutal, we had full body life jackets.
i wouldn't be changing the impeller for more speed, you have to remember its a jet boat not a speed boat and the top speed gains you'll get are pretty minimal compared to what you'll loose down low. you want that acceleration for technical traversing rapids or turning hard and getting out of the hole fast or even towing. youll appreciate it more in the right place that they are desighned for, get Garett and Blake out on a river exploration with some rapids and youll understand it. Im from New Zealand so we grew up with jet boats as its where they originated from, they really are designed to do other things other than go fast.
You've built an absolute ripper boiz 👌👌 Worth putting an oil baffle in the sump, type S oil pump and potentially a water cooled oil cooler? And maybe a fresh air feed from the side of the boat into the turbo?
The thumbnail SHOULD have been a picture of the boat at the pump with the pump still in the tank. Would have looked cool with just the yellow pump hanging out the boat getting filled up.
A lot of going fast on the water relates to fluid mechanics. A impeller with trim optimized for speed along with a different stator and nozzle should have it going easily in the 70’s with the same power.
Don't forget to check the health of your impeller. If the clearance gets too big you will give up a lot of speed. Rigging is more of the game than engine in boats !
Congrats! Looks like alot of speed can be gained by getting more of the boat out of the water maybe with trim or shifting the gravity aft. Lots of drag the way it rides
I used to ride jet ski… 400hp+ jet ski… and please Trust me when i say « please wear helmet boys… and a good life jacket, not a one to float, one built for impact ! Any way I really love that little boat and I can’t wait to see the airboat !!

being knocked out or knocked around can mess you up in the water. flotation device brings you up.

Down the road when you get board of the boat, look up a dude who put a glider on his boat, would work with your size of boat.. Works crazy stuff..

60+ is Moving in a mini.... my 10 foot Jetstream tops out at 40 and I haven't felt much need to go faster. Love to see y'all making progress with this 🤘

They make apps that save your top speed for when you get to that point.
Awesome work, love the jet boat videos, but if you broach it you will get thrown out hard. Life jackets might save you. Plus I would look at some padding for around the windows. I was in a race boat when it broached and it was brutal, we had full body life jackets.
i wouldn't be changing the impeller for more speed, you have to remember its a jet boat not a speed boat and the top speed gains you'll get are pretty minimal compared to what you'll loose down low. you want that acceleration for technical traversing rapids or turning hard and getting out of the hole fast or even towing. youll appreciate it more in the right place that they are desighned for, get Garett and Blake out on a river exploration with some rapids and youll understand it.
Im from New Zealand so we grew up with jet boats as its where they originated from, they really are designed to do other things other than go fast.

Worth putting an oil baffle in the sump, type S oil pump and potentially a water cooled oil cooler? And maybe a fresh air feed from the side of the boat into the turbo?

The thumbnail SHOULD have been a picture of the boat at the pump with the pump still in the tank. Would have looked cool with just the yellow pump hanging out the boat getting filled up.
A lot of going fast on the water relates to fluid mechanics. A impeller with trim optimized for speed along with a different stator and nozzle should have it going easily in the 70’s with the same power.
Imagine what it’s going to be like with 40PSI a built engine and a high pitch impeller! Awesome built!
Don't forget to check the health of your impeller. If the clearance gets too big you will give up a lot of speed. Rigging is more of the game than engine in boats !
I have a 4 seater same boat with svho yamaha and ran 66 mph stock. Stock 300 hp and now its at 450 hp so in 70s...

Congrats! Looks like alot of speed can be gained by getting more of the boat out of the water maybe with trim or shifting the gravity aft. Lots of drag the way it rides
