- The time we have all been eagerly waiting for has finally arrived! 4th July marks as a significant milestone in Raju’s journey at Wildlife SOS as he almost completes a decade under our care.
It’s almost as if we met Raju yesterday. We remember the day when he stood before us shackled and burdened with the weight of bull hooks. It was then when the Wildlife SOS team stepped in and changed his destiny forever. His scars from the past began to fade away as he was finally surrounded with care and empathy.
Today as we see Raju play, eat, bath, and walk freely, it fills our heart with immense gratitude. We pray for more elephants like Raju to live life they are deprived of. Here’s to Raju, a symbol of hope, resilience and freedom!

Raju's rescue opened my eyes to the heinous practise of "owning" an elephant & the disgusting cruelty they are subjected to by horrible, incompassionate, uncaring, self-absorbed people. Regardless of a person's financial status, this does NOT excuse them for hurting & exploiting animals for their own gain or otherwise. Ignorance is also not an excuse. Raju may have recovered well physically, mentally & emotionally, but the scars will remain & he will never forget. The last 10 years have allowed him to heal to some extent & I hope for this sweet boy, his remaining years will continue to be happy & surrounded by people who care & will always be there to cater to his every need. It is my sincere hope that his pain will not be in vain & with the tireless work of Wildlife SOS, ALL elephants will be given their right to freedom from human incarceration & cruelty. We ALL need to speak up for the Rajus in the world because we are their voice!!!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️🐘

Wow Raju and Wildlife SOS have come a long was from it's beginnings. I was wondering if you've ever thought about inviting the girls from Soma Memorial Girls Home set up by Urmi Basu? You have so many different kinds of jobs from veterinarian to car giver to rescuer, that girls may want to do in the future. I would love to see all the girls visiting the elephants at the hospital. We need more women in the sciences and I think these girls would love to meet the women at Wildlife SOS to show them they can be whatever they want to be. 🙂

I feel like the biggest responsible party involved in this horrible heinous crime is the government. They need to do something NOW. The gentle giants deserve so much more

CAPTURED ELEPHANT OWNERS SHOULD BE MADE TO SUFFER THE SAME CRUELTY AS THEY MADE FOR THESE MAJESTIC WILD CREATURES. THEY SHOULD BE MADE TO SUBMIT THROUGH THE SAME MEANS AS THEY DID TO THE ELEPHANTS AND THEN GIVE THEM JAIL TERM JUSTICE....THEY ARE TOO IGNORANT AND EVIL TO OWN SUCH A PRECIOUS CREATURE!
I wish I could change the past where these animals were brutally tortured and died in brutal pain. Hope 21st century ends the captivity completely.😔😔😔😔
How is elephant digestion? I mean if human has been starving for a long time, eating has to be start very carefully with very small portions since too much food can kill a person. Can elephants just start eating without any worries?
I believe animals are the same. Too much food too quickly stresses the major organs & can cause them to go into organ failure. I'm no vet or doctor, but that's my understanding.

Why don’t you show pictures of him today (2023)? All you ever show are years old pictures. Instead of saying something ridiculously vague, like “he has a long way to go,” why don’t you tell us specifics, like what exactly is going well, and what else needs to happen for him? I’m sure you would get more donations with REAL updates.
