    Hack for when your trying to find a wiring short. Instead of going through 5 packs of fuses get a 5w 12v bulb and solder two lengths of wire to + and -. Crimp on a couple of male spade terminals to insert into fuse holder and voila! If you have a short to ground the bulb will light up and start hunting for your short. When the light goes out you've found it.

    For cutting silicone hoses. A hose clamp softly nipped up works a treat for providing a hard straight edge to guide a Stanley knife blade to around the hose leaving you a nice straight cut

    Love your oil filler. Great hack. My favourite is instead of sandwich bags for bolts, use one of your cheap parts boxes. Take off the first bolts and put them in the first section and write on the lid. Place the second lot of bolts in the next space and so on. Then when you come to reassemble you are not digging through a bunch of bags, you just take the bolts out of the box in reverse order which also makes sure you don't miss anything.

    First hack. Keep white squishy foam packaging. Use hole punches or internal coutersunk tube as a cutter to make plugs from the foam for hole blocking when painting something that needs holes plugged. Just did a fuel rail using the same method.
    Second hack. The Cricket Maker machine. Or as i call it The Cricket Gasket Maker machine. Make your own gaskets. Just buy gasket paper from parts store. Need to learn a bit of CAD work. I think i may do a video tutorial. Perfect for Sunday afternoon thermostat or TB gasket replacements on any car. Within a few minutes you have a perfect gasket. And you can make your own vinyl lables with it too. My favorite tool!

    A really good magnet in the end of a thin plastic conduit, so if you drop a bolt or screw its easy to pick it up. The length and diameter of the plastic tube is dependant on your needs. Really good magnets can be found in old computer hard drives... they are strong as!

    My top Hack-
    Do you tap threads? Want a free ratchet tap adapter?
    Cut down an Allen key to 20mm long. Any size, 8mm or 10mm is my go to.
    Get a gladbag style plastic bag, put it over the Allen key, then push it into a 3/8" or 1/2" drive socket in either the above 8mm/10mm size.
    The plastic locks it onto the socket but can be removed. Rip, cut or use your bic to remove the excess plastic.
    Then use a 2nd 8mm/10mm socket on your desired ratchet.
    You now have an adapter that fits any ratchet/breaker bar/t handle that is square drive to fit exactly on any 3mm-18mm tap

    #1) I use stainless steel meat hooks that you buy at your local hunting store to hang brake calipers while you do the brake job. These are S shaped hooks that are used to hang a deer while you are cleaning it. They work great to hook through the large opening in the caliper and then hang it from the coil spring of the vehicle, keeping all strain off the flex hose. I think the hooks I use are 7 inches long. Just remember to remove the hook from the spring when the job is done or it'll slice through the sidewall of the tire in a split second. #2) I use 6 inch round magnetic parts trays to hold wheel nuts when you remove wheels for a swap over, but not really doing any work to the vehicle. These trays magnet right onto the side of your car hoist column or arm and cling on onto each set of wheel nuts as you take them off to swap over to snow tires or mud tires or summer tires. That way you're not kicking wheel nuts all over the shop, #3) I keep my air tool oil in a small metal hand pump oil can. One quick shot into the fitting on the tool delivers the perfect amount of oil. The little plastic nozzles on the oil bottles you buy always seem to be a gooey mess, and when the bottle falls over on the bench, the oil runs out all over the place.

    finding a blind hole, lets say you have to pieces of metal one has a hole but another piece of metal over lays that hole with no way of getting behind that hole, get a thin piece of metal strap, fold it in half, where the 2 ends meet drill a hole near the edge in one of the holes put a pop rivet now you have a way to locate the hole, the rivet will slot into the hole and a way on the top side to mark where you need to drill ......... sorry if you've covered this one i only just found your channel

    07:09
    Yeah, ... also got fussed at by my dad for doing it wrong. Should have just bought a light with a clamp & left me be.
    16:03 It's a neat trick, I don't know how the wood affects the job your doing... I.e. it acts as an insulator..
    But you could get yourself a thick gauge of ware, bend it into a square "U" shape... with two alligator clips , & it would probably
    hold up just as good. . . & be lighter.
    Interesting stuff.

  • @janeblogs324
    @janeblogs324 2 года назад +5

    11:20 is crazy. Use a y piece on an air nozzle using the venturi effect instead of pressuring the container.
    Same way a spray gun works and using an old cheap non gravity gun would be easy. The degreaser style guns would be best.
    Remember your compressor is drawing moist air, the nature of expanding/contracting pressures introduces more water too.
    So make sure you have a water trap installed

    Your toolbox labels... I upped the game on that about 15 years ago. Get some of those adhesive backed magnets (like the Avery 3270). Print off your labels as you're doing, but stick them to the adhesive side of the magnet. Now when you move stuff around drawer to drawer, or even just side to side it's easy to move the labels.

    • @DrFiero
      @DrFiero 2 года назад

    13:00 warming them would raise the pressure too.
    I've tried this once, water stuck to the can and dripped on the paint job ruining it :(
    Shaking the water off was a pain.
    After you clear the nozzle upside down always wipe the tip too.
    I used to fill a small cup with thinner to put the cap in while inverted spraying but the effort lol.
    You can unclog cans with thinner dripped in the tube under the nozzle. Requires lots of drops over an hour while depressing the cap.
    You can refill cans and depressurize them too

    To step up your oil filler to the next level attach a bolt, washer or some other weight at the end of the inlet hose (eg with a cable tie), that way if you tip the container the inlet will stay in the oil (props to the designers of my kids water bottle where I saw this)...
