    Much improved over the early machines, but, they wouldn't stand a chance once the RCA machines came along

      I think it's been said that the Edison Diamond Discs (With the Blue Amberol cylinders coming a close second) were some of the best records available in the pre-electric era. I think the pathe records also sounded much better than most as well.
