@DocRox I wonder what happened there because George Lucas was a rebel, independent film maker! Star Wars ('77) wouldn't have been made as a studio picture, and now it's just another money maker only. Philosophically maybe that's inevitable?
I was really pleased with the process you used! I do mine pretty much the same way but I had always added water & I think that was my downfall!! Thanks for sharing! p.s. if you have a recipe for cantelope I would love it. I'm making it now but can't find not 1 recipe for it. so I'm doing it by experience.
Freeze the chunks for a few days then thaw, then use an apple cider press. Maybe $30 online. 3 cups of sugar should get it up to 11-14%. Let it ferment as bout 2 weeks at 68 degrees.

This should be a tribute video to Tom T. Hall and to his most remarkable, sensational song, Old Dogs, and Children and Watermelon Wine. It's a classic!
Hey bubba, Really enjoyed part 1on watermelon wine. Are you gonna put out a part 2? Been making my own hard apple cider and want to branch out. I'd like to find that price on watermelons here in E. TN. Take care and thanx for the vids. Mark

You get the flavour crom tbe skins leav untill black spots on the skins. Fully ripe bananas are best. But your recipe looks very good. Thanks fir shering it xxx
Wow, that's high ABV!! I actually made s dandelion and orange mead this spring which came out 18% and my starting gravity was 1.127 but it went all the way down to 0.992. Not exactly what I was shooting for but the honey was super strong and I used champagne yeast. In the end, I like it. It's currently only 3 months old and it's already really good, the alcohol bite is all but gone despite the 18% ABV. After another 3 months, it'll be amazing
Don't put the air locks on the jugs for the first day or two. Instead, place paper towels or a piece of cloth, held with an elastic band, to allow for the carbon dioxide to escape. Doing this will keep them from volcanoing (provided you leave head space).
Nice video and really showing the process with the tablets for controlled ferment. One question though - how did you get a plastic bucket that had oysters in that clean that you can make a fermentation it in without flavour transfer? Impressive!
White vinegar and baking soda pulls out the stench. HOT WATER RNISE , AIR DRY IN SUN A FEW DAYS . REWASH WITH YOUR STERILIZING SOULTION WATER & AIR DRY.
I really liked your video. However i never used campden tabltes( = sulfite ) in my wines to destroy any wild yeasts, since my added yeasts are by far stronger in power and concentration. One problem I still have though. Are you not afraid of having to much methanol in allowing pulp, may it be in small particles passing thru the screen, yeasting next to the sugar(added or natural present)?
@TimeforaChange InGovernment Hi you are doing fine in using lemon juice ( or a little citric acid) to break down the sugar into its base components( glucose and fructose), sure you knew this allready. For yeast I simply used the commercial dry yeasts( cheap ones in a little sachet ) , depending on what kind/type of wine I wanted ( which alcohol percentage and leftover sugar) I still like sweet wines. Regular bread yeast seems to be very hard as it produces only approx.5% alcohol(beer)(not of interest to you, but it gives some taste) and a host of other products with a smell and taste not every one agreeable I hope you `ll enjoy, because it`s your very own product!
Old Dogs and Children, and Watermelon Wine. I think Tom T. Hall made that wine up. I've made wine out of anything that has sugar in it. I finally gave up trying with watermelon because it spoils in the bucket before it gets to the end of fermentation. It tastes pretty good if you can get past the smell. I've had better luck with the rind and throwing away the red meat. Next time, I think I will try fermenting it in the refrigerator.
This looks like something somewhat easy to do without all the necessary sanitation of other alcohol types. Don't get me wrong-I like clean stuff, but Id still buy a beer or a wine and then make mead, shine or this. Thanks for the tutorial!
I know you have the ratio down… The recipe is of utmost importance… We were trying to make wine and it just came out so sugary, because the east kept activating in the heat ends looks like there was too much used in there so he needed more sugar, that was wrong… And made it so sugary and sweet like syrups… This is not as easy as it seems. But I totally dig that you’re using honey do you sweeten. We’ve learned a lot since we started and thank you for your tips and tutorials 💜
They're not hard to read. There's a paper insert with the measurements on it. You take an initial reading before fermentation then take a second afterward. You simply look up "abv calculator" on Google and enter your first and last measurements where indicated. It will calculate your alcohol by volume. Most add campden tablets after fermentation to make sure all yeast is dead so when you add sugar for taste you don't end up with exploding bottles.

Does potassium Metabisulfite in store bought juice kill your yeast if you’re trying to make wine from store bought juice.

It probably didn't survive all the bacteria.. zero sanitation here
the Camden tablets do that exact job.
Can the watermelon pulp be processed in a blender/juicer, or will the possible micro-amounts of seed affect the overall final product?
You could use a very fine filter/coffee paper and neglect “micro amounts”
