      Cheers Chris, I’ve got another video going live about 16:00 today using the same float rig for sea trout fishing, keep an eye out for it. I plan on doing much more sea fishing using the float as it’s a great way to fish.
      What sort of venue do you plan on using the float and target species?

    Sakuma circle hooks are my go to when using live prawns for bass. Always get an excellent hook up.

    I've had so many tangles with this setup, and I couldn't figure out why... and it's frustrating as hell - Finally the fish are there and your setup is f*cked because it's tanlged, and you need to redo the whole thing.... PERFECT !!!! Thanks !

    Good video thanks for this but i have i question : to make the stopper knot do you use powergum here is the powergum better than for example making a stopper from braid ? and one more question do you always tie the stopper on your leader or can you also tie it on the braid? .

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing
      @PiscatorUK-Fishing  2 года назад +2

      Hi William, I normally I use powegum for making stopper knots. Normally I put it on the braid but it all depends on the depth, if fishing really shallow say 3-6ft the I would put the not on the leader.

    Hello and good evening I have a question I never know about the sea hook sizes what is the largest circkelhook can you tell by the number or how does that work is Size 1 a large hook or is it the smallest?
    I am a fan of circlinghooks when fishing for sea bass, especially when it comes to float fishing, but also as a pennel hook. for fising on sea bass
    thanks in advance for your response .

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing

      Hi William, excellent question and it is similar to fresh water. High numbers represent small hooks down to a No1 but it doesn’t stop there. After a No1 you get 1/0, 2//0 and so on getting larger.

    Most modern float designs are dreadful. I used to buy floats made of balsa. Made by a company called VORTEX. These were straight tapered from top to bottom. They were tough and could be re-painted when the paint became bashed off. I then made my own also from balsa when no longer available. The hardest part is drilling straight through the middle. Sadly these were all lost eventually. Other than that the rig is much the same. except I use 2 hooks tied to the same swivel for mackerel.

    How deep do you usually fish with this rig?

    • @PiscatorUK-Fishing
      @PiscatorUK-Fishing  2 года назад

      Hi mate, it all depends on the depth of water and the species I’m targeting. For sea trout I usually have the bait about 12inches off the bottom.

      @@PiscatorUK-Fishing Thank you for responding. I am inquiring about de float rig depth due my pursue of a specie of fish from shore. I try to make a rig to reach a target (the fish of interest usually suspend at that distance except spawning season) about 5 to 7 meters under the water surface, around 100 meters from shore. Additionally, I have to be able to detect a subtle bite by feel. I have figured how to reach that distance and the tackle sensitive enough to feel the bite. I am able to figure out a fixed distance about 3 meters between the float and the lure. My only problem is how to get the distance between the float and lure to 7 meters. Sliding float and stopper wont work because setting a stopper 7 meters above the lure means that I have to reel back the stopper thru the guides and back the reel. I cannot have the stopper going thru the guide when casting because it create friction going thru the guides and diminish the casting distance considerably. I am not sure if there is a solution to this, the closest solution is to get a boat out there and drop the lure over them.
