    Wow, never realised these pumps shifted that much volume. The one in my car is 14 years old and still going strong. Amazing.

    Holy moly, and here I am wondering if I wanted two of these to run on my twin intercooler supercharger lid on four 16AN's.

      I think two would be overkill for a supercharger. There's a smaller version of this pump used for exactly that purpose!

    Im running this pump with a basic amazon rotary switch PWM. Tried it the same as you, left controller ground disconnected, this is actually the only way it would slightly work. My problem is when the switch is turned all the way up, the pump is off/low speed. Switch turned off is high speed on the pump. Would you be able to help me with this? Car is a street/drag car. Want to be able to control the speed manually

    I am trying to operate a prius electric water pump which is 4 wire. B+, GND and two other wires connected to the engine module, labled NWP and SWP When I connect the unit on a bench just power and ground without connecting anything to the two control wires the unit will operate approx 6000 RPM which is too fast as it will cavitate the coolant. I need to to run at 3000 RPM how would I generate and what type of signal is being used to control the pump.

    Does it need a 3ms pulse on the test pin to “wake the pump up”? Or is a straight PWM signal connected to the PWM input enough?

      It's been a while since I used PWM with this pump, I believe straight PWM is enough iirc.

    Can you tell me how did you hook-up this pump ? +12V and GND it is obvious - it goes from car battery. But what about signal - do you feed pump with 5V directly from Arduino - or 12V via transistor from battery.

      Signal is 12v via transistor from the battery. It's through a resistor and pulled low when signaled by the arduino.

    Hey, im really trying to wrap my head around this, im using a IRF520 from a arduino dev-kit, i can see that my arduino actually sends the PWM signlar out and i can also see the led on the MOSFET board dim, so something is happening, but my pump is still going into limpmode, if i hook up a logicanalyzer to the output of the IRF520 i just get one HIGH signal.
    I'm starting to thing that IRF520 isn't capable of sending out a PWM signal? or what am i doing wrong here? what Transistor/Mosfet are you using in your setup and do you happen to have a schematic on how you wired this up?

      Sorry, I don't. I think used a generic NPN transistor with a pull down resistor. I recall running into something similar to you where the signal was high all the time, I inverted the PWM output signal and pulled the signal to ground through the resistor and it worked. It should be a very low current output so just about anything should be able to drive it.

    I have a ecu masters black the most frequently I can get from it is 255hz would that be enough to run this water pump from minimum speed to maximum speed?

      I haven't touched the PWM side in a while, but I think it would be. The pump seems pretty tolerant to different signal inputs.

    How high did you go on duty cycle in this video? Do you have a current measurement? Spec sheet on their site shows 35-36 amps all out. It moves a lot of water at 50%, so I'd imagine it could be run at low DC a lot of the time. Cool video!

    Can you tell me what frequency of PWM you are using ?

      It's the board default, I believe 980 Hz for the Uno. I dropped the code here if you're interested. github.com/chesapeakemotorwerks/CWA400_PWM I'll verify it on my scope later. IIRC, the CWA 400 is tolerant of a range of PWM frequencies so it doesn't matter that much.

    Could You tell me the frequency range is used for controlling this pump ? Or Is the frequency is constant and the only thing is changed is duty cycle ?Could you share the pinout. What type/model of transistror did you use ?

      You keep the frequency constant I believe it is 60-500hz and there is a corresponding duty cycle range for operation. Search on Google for the data sheet

    Good morning
    Thanks for the help you gave me, I don't know English and I use a translator and I apologize if there are any mistakes. I am going to use a Pierburg CWA200 pump. I connected the pump to Arduino according to the said specifications. But now I have two problems to solve. On terminal D10 I set the frequency of 500 Hz, then I chose terminal D3, the frequency of 250 Hz. In both cases, if I vary the R6, (I'm using a poteziomer) on the oscilloscope I can see from a minimum of 20% PWM to a maximum of 98% PWM. Now I wonder, with this variation the flow rate remains unchanged, the pump speed remains unchanged. Where am I wrong?
    I'm sorry I don't know how to attach the oscilloscope photos and the wiring diagram.
    The second question, if I let the pump run, after about 30 minutes it turns off and after a few seconds it starts spinning, then it spins for another 20 minutes, wait a few seconds then it starts again, etc. I don't understand the motivation why it stops. Best regards Erio

    Can you post the Arduino code you used and the exact diagram of how you have everything connected? I’m trying to make a filter for a koi pond and also have plenty of these pumps laying around the shop

    I'm trying to build my version of pump controller. I have found tecomotive paper (www.tecomotive.com/download/PWMinfo_EN.pdf) for thier tinyCWA controller. I've bought used CWA200 pump a tought that when I connect 14V to the 1 pin, 4, GND to the 3 and 4 pin and 14V to the 2 pin (signal). According to tecomotive documentation - when 100% duty cycle issa applied - the pump works in limp/emergency mode.
    But in this setup pump starts spinning for about 1 sec and then stops for about 5 sec then starts again and stops. This cycle repeats forever.
    Can You help me to uderstand the priniciples of controlling this pump ?

      Yes, I'll try to post another video later. Battery voltage on the supply & signal line should be enough for it to kick on in emergency mode.

      Where are you getting the 12v to the arduino pwm signal? I don’t see any connection to the battery?

      Great question. As far as I know, these were developed exclusively for automotive applications that don't run corrosive fluids. However, the materials look like they would be compatible and used pumps are cheap enough to experiment with.
