    I like how you treat beasts/dragons as heavy artillery units. Fire, reload, fire, reload. They are the "Worker 8" of this game.

    Just a correction (based on Rucecssion's comments):
    Phys/Mag Up Cards are a x1.5 multiplier to their respective types of damage for the first card, and +0.5 for every card after the first (up to a total of x3 at 4 cards).

    The problem with most of these missions is that levels are significantly important until endgame, so Oz being multiple levels above your highest level kills the balance. I get what they were going for, but most of the time it sucks the fun out of these fights when you're getting 1 to 2 shot and doing next to nothing in damage unless you spam finishers.

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Год назад +1

      If you're working the system, levels don't matter that much. This was a no shop approach, but realistically a Divine unit running high Dark resistance can lead Oz around by the nose, you can bait his help out and deal with them individually, and there's plenty of guaranteed debuffs that would help the equation. Since most are operating on a %, you can nullify a lot more from someone like a boss than a normal unit. It's a series of problems, but that feeling of mastery when you see the counters before even taking a move feels awesome. I'll add it to the list, but this might be a good example for how to abuse a Swordmaster and suppression TK to clown on bosses.

    I think the hard fight is the one after. With him and his... sister(?) in the castle. It's like having two of them. I had a knight Denam get destroyed by his melee while getting some ''air strike'' from his sister above with her magic.
    Having two of them to deal with is hard a on top of having new first time unit to deal with. If I remember right there's a hydra.

    i only use one zombie octopus to close the path on the left and a zombie winged rune fencer to close the path on the right, but in either case the game WILL find a way to take them out the path, (mainly by knocking them back with a spell or a hit, really! is like the game help himself in this situations allowing those combos to happen often)... it will however be a very long fight as you will be trimming down the dark knights troops one by one till only oz is left alone, but once the priest was dead that easy up the process. Then breach, weaken Oz and he will be dead in no time. Also notice the AI seems frustrated enough that, just to annoy you, makes Cerya idiotically charge Oz with no weapons, just to put herself in the way for Oz to one shot her with a finisher, is like a petty revenge to make her die for you managing a great no incap fight with lvl 21 Oz two levels above you. There is still the Chaos rout to get her though... i did manage to save her as oz was two moves to die with canapus dagger finisher.

    Coffee Potato, I am thinking in getting this game, I played it so much on ps1, its one of my favorites.
    Could you answer me something? Can you shot out of your range with bows and stones like on ps1?
    I remember praticing long shots that are way out of my range on ps1, it was so fun!
    I am asking because FF Tactics doesnt allow archers to attack tiles that arent in their 3~6 squares range, which kills the fun of my favorite class, so I fear that new Tactics Ogre followed the same path.
    Thank you in advance

    • @soandsononame8750
      @soandsononame8750 Год назад +6

      bows can shoot beyond their range, subject to trajectory and physics. In tactics ogre the game won't show you the extended range while you are selecting a target, but you can still attempt to shoot beyond that displayed range, the trajectory line will show if you can make the shot or not. In FFT from what I remember bows do get a bonus to range when you are high in elevation, difference being that FFT does show that extended bow range from height when you are targeting. This only applies to bows, not crossbows

    how do You have lvl 25 here ? I have 19 max union
    This union lvl is fkn bullshit. Double moves for enemies and sudden jumps in diff while You are restricted.
    For some reason You don't have to save Cerya in this battle ? - I do

    • @CoffeePotato
      @CoffeePotato  Год назад

      You're on a different route, and it's not. You have the tools to make it a breeze, and levels aren't the tool. Sounds to me that you're on Neutral, in which case you get this fight earlier. If you want to save her, you can use an item Gryphon, they're basically free from the forest. If you have a Knight switched into Divine, you can use that and Phalanx to draw aggro from Oz, since he'll be pretty darn likely to sniff out divine units for that element bonus. Concentration and poison for minimum 30% hit odds, distract their healing by melting their units at a distance, or use status arrows on ninjas from the sides. If you're feeling extra spicy, sending some Cockatrices to take the top can disable a lot of their team pretty quick. You can also employ shots to get around Oz's defense, or even just consider Cerya a write off for now, hold back, deal with the trickle of units. This is probably the toughest situation to save her on.
      Random other notes:
      -Debuffs are your friend. Beast tamer and Lobber to Weaken and Breach Oz. He's nothing but a wizard now.
      -Use Canopus to shield bash her to you. Use healers behind the wall to top her off. Fortify if possible.
      -Levels and stats are related, but separate, and you're never going to have more than you can handle.
      -If you want to do the big funny, surround that Knight from above with Dragon Scale using Dragons, and just have Oz delete himself.
      -Charm and Concentration also helps a lot here. Caldias on Clerics work for this too.
      -You can do it. Forget the numbers, those might as well be a trick.
      -If I recall, he can be poisoned too. Envenom arrows and True flight should be guaranteed poison for you, if you're within Shortbow range.

      @@CoffeePotato I see.
      So there are 3 routes law neutral and chaotic ?
      There are many tools / status effects / builds to go around every fight ?
      Explain dragoon tactic once again.
      Dragons as beast or human class dragon ?
      I saw few dragons in side area that I can farm and tame them there.
      So If I for ex.. tame holy/divine dragoon - make him hp/tank.
      Attack with Denim -> poison claw zerker.
      He will focus divine dragoon. ( boss )
      But I'll have to do something about enemy healers.
      Still union lvl is bs- If enemy would be on Your lvl always - fair - they are often +2 lvl above You ton od dmg and def.
      Its shame game will be fun around end with side zones and ulocked lvl.

      @CoffeePotato  Год назад +1

      @@soulflame5635 The levels are more set dressing than anything, like two levels in this case are about 2-4 stats per level in each stat, and in the high end we're talking like a 20-30 odd damage difference.
      The big damage spikes you're likely seeing are coming from two things. A- Elements. Hitting on an effective type matchup is a 30% advantage. There's other quirks, but their archers are showing what your archers could be doing if abusing those advantages.
      B- Oz is a boss, and an unusual element for that part in the game. This means he's likely hitting extra hard on your Clerics and Knights, who I assume are likely running Divine. This gives the impression that he can just do that to everyone.
      You can recruit Dragons on the second map of the forest area. They have Dragon Scale, which reflects damage. It's an easy way to cheese harder hitting things.
      The easiest way to handle it, though, is still to use faster units to escort Cerya out of there, then pull back, wait for Oz to get impatient, Breach (Lobber on Tamer, Dynast King's Mead), and just hit him 4-5 times. He seems tough because he's way back there. Get him alone, and he's just another dude.
